The idea of hanging a person is not about strangulation, it's about breaking the neck using the weight of the person. Because neck is very delicate part of human body, it's super easy to deform it. That's why hanging as a method for suicide works. But for some reason idiots think that's it's totally OK to apply the whole weight of your body to your neck if it's standing on your head. They do it because it looks cool and because illiterate esoteric people from India, who don't even shower, declared that it should be practiced and it's a sign of great spirituality. (Although I wouldn't trust people who don't shower when they try to teach spirituality).
