The movie is very well taken.
How could it be a flop ?
It is hundred times better than any useless hit movies with cheesy storylines.
Something doesnt seem right.
The storyline is even much better than devadasu. But of course devadasu was hit due to the younger looking anr ‘s sad emotions and savithri’s innocent acting .
This movie plot is much more nicer than devadasu ! How it ended up as a flop?
Even the songs are so refreshing.
Someone have done some fraud in under declaring the revenue. Maybe thats why income tax raid could have happened.
The finance record keeping could have been played out. Surely middle men might have done some fraud.
If savithri mam was smart , she should have filed a police report for potential fraud. Apparently her servants were stealing too. At least she could have gotten some legal advice or guidance that could have prevented much finance loss for her.
Guess she was talented in acting but too naive in money matter. World in 1950s is so much different than in 1970s. She should have just watched the debut movie of her husband : miss malini. ( the story line is similar to her life story
Of being cheated by producing movies ). Very sad.

After paasamalar movie, sivaji and Savitri were considered as real brother and sister by the fans. Fans were not accepted them as pair. That was the main reason for this film's flop.
This picture is Milan in Hindi with Sunil dutt and nutan. It was a super hit. Wonder why this film was a flop in Tamil. Very nice movie 👌

This does not applicable for Sivaji Movies. Simaltaneously movies of Sivaji Ganesan released and got succeed. It is immaterial of the other movies domination. Commercially got success. In Madurai the movie ran 80 days. In the other Main areas the movie would have run more days not because of this as main reason. Right from the beginning failure/ flop words were used for the movies of great actor for the reason the only actor dominated the two third of tollywood and No. Box office hit king all because mainly of best acting skill not depending on commercial flavour. Nothing else political benefit is not required, which never work out always.

Savitri has done mistake about controling Sivaji action.Sivaji has done 200% emotion than required.That time so many flims of Shivaji released contiously like Vietnam veedu,iru druvam,deiva magan,Raman ethanai ramanadi with sad climax so audience was not like this movie with entire sad storyline.But in Telugu ANR acted in optimum emotion and also ANR,and Savitri was successful pair during release.

Gemini said in one interview the main reason for heavy loss incurred in Praptham was because of Sivaji’s brother he didn’t give dates and kept dragging. I highly doubt Sivaji acted for free it’s unlikely. Think practically if no money was spent for lead hero and she played the lead heroine and also directed is to be noted production cost would have been considerably cut. She was a peak heroine in Tamil and Telugu for 15 yrs. With just one flop she will not be in financial crunch. It is not believable.

Savitri herself is responsible for her downfall.Bad company of Chamchas she kept including her relatives contributed to her downfall.When Gemini Ganesan gave good education to all his 4 daughters He was against the marriage of Vijaya Chamundshwri at that age.He wanted her also to study further.But Savitri perhaps from her own xperience of marrying GeminiGanesan wanted her daughter to get married early. This movie did not affect her life. There were so many reasons. Better not to waste time and energy in this matter.
