Hello everyone and welcome to a VERY special episode of #TheatreThursday🎉💕🎭 (HOW VERY)
Today, I'm going to transform into one of my FAVE musical theatre heroines, Veronica Sawyer from HEATHERS! While I do it, I'm going to chat about my thoughts on Heathers: The Musical and share an embarrassing audition story time.

I love Heathers. It's one of my favorite musicals. It's just overall great.
I once auditioned for "Your a Good Man Charlie Brown" and apparently I had a great audition according to the director, they just thought I didn't look young enough to play a child.
"My mom was there... Ben Platt was there.....
Ben Platt was in my dream last night too! I went to see Great Comet but it was a weird showing of only the first act and I got lost so I showed up as the show was ending and Ben was leaving and I yelled "Ben Platt I love you!" And he said "I love you too!" And then the dream ended, presumably because I would have died

I was Veronica Sawyer for one of our semesters, and I used the makeup tutorial and it worked amazing. The shimmer worked really well on stage! ❤️💚💛💙

My friend is actually auditioning for Veronica tomorrow! :D Also my first ever theatre camp is really fun. Kinda sad it ends tomorrow tho but either way it's been a great experience ^^

Sophie Grace it could be seen like that, BuT..... in the movie he asks her if she takes german, implying he’s using the translation as a sort of way to taunt(?) veronica without her knowing, since she blindly trusts him and doesn’t know german

hey you should really do just a basic stage makeup look! cause I know a lot of is young theatre kids don't know exactly how to do it. and there aren't very many out there

To make you feel better, my worst audition was last year. I sung the first verse and chorus and it was fine, but for some reason when I went on to the second verse I completely forgot the words. So I just stood there, the music still going, but I was silent. Thankfully someone turned off the music and I ran off stage. I was so humiliated oh my god!! I didn't get the part obviously 😂

I think that Veronica sawyer is my IDEAL role, she has my personality, I can sing her songs, and I fit the casting type
I needed this so much, I just bombed like TWO auditions last week (it was terrible) and started thinking about if I was good enough. To know that even you have bad auditions made me feel so much better! Thank you!

I adore your videos so much honestly. In September I auditioned for my first musical (and it didn't go great) and I felt so discouraged I was pretty sure I never wanted to audition for anything again, but you're always so candid about everything, i've been able to audition for more things and have a good sense of humor about not getting cast and still want to keep auditioning because I know it's not always gonna go my way.
Yessss the Australian production of heathers was incredible! In my opinion, from what I've seen online of the off Broadway version, the Australian one was loads better particularly set and costume wise. So glad I got to see it in its short run, was definitely worth it! 🌈
Eliza P I'm so bummed I missed it! I think it came to Melbourne and I legit just forgot to book tickets. *smacks self* I did see Carrie when it was here though so it's not all bad.
I was talking about my friend's school musical and she said I would make a great Veronica and I just... * hand on heart * it touched me. Especially since I had just told her she would make a nice McNamara.
HOW are you so good at makeup all the time??? On a completely different note this audition story honestly makes me feel so much better about my first terrible audition a few weeks ago. I basically butchered Life I Never Led and literally cried for ten minutes on the phone and everyone kept telling me that everyone there probably had bad auditions too but none of them have ever really worked on any kind of theatre productions so it makes me feel so much better hearing from someone who has done so many great roles in all of these great shows about having bad auditions. So thank you for that.

Is it like a trend for people to have dreams involving Ben platt now? The other night I had a dream where they were doing Dear Evan Hansen at my local community theatre with the OBC which is SO WEIRD because I live in a small town and Ben ran up and down the aisle at the beginning of the show (also no idea why) but he tripped over my foot and I kinda helped him up-ish and for the rest of the show I just freaked out.

This past fall semester, I was auditioning for West Side Story, and just like you, I forgot to eat for the dance call and almost passed out. I almost did right before the actual audition part of it. So the director had me step out to get water and air and I almost had a panic attack over it. Luckily, the director said I could come back the next night and redo it. (P.S. I love your videos!!!! Question though: How do you find good roles to play when your type cast is completely opposite of your sing part/range? Thank you!!!!)

omg I was in a VERY similar situation!! I ALSO bombed a heathers audition about a month ago!! I had to stay for a longer time (not as late as you though) and at the time I was kinda sick bc a few days before that I had to perform for something and wear something that wasn't warm in a cold place and I just didn't feel very well and I really SUCKED at the dance call (I came w/ friends and they were in the same dance call while I was not, another coincidence)(also, this is where the resemblance stops) and I felt pretty bad about not getting in because it was HEATHERS and I was willing to pull through the audition even though I was sick (but when I sang I sounded fine which was why I let myself go) but this was my first audition outside of school productions and the dance part was hard for me whereas there were more experienced people there and I just kinda gave up in the middle bc I was feeling pretty hopeless :/ but anyways I'm going into high school next year and I'm gonna see if I have a chance there?? I heard it's harder to get in but if I don't, I'm just gonna see if I can find anything outside of school for my age :( but anyways, it's nice to hear more about your own experiences w/ auditions kath, keep it up!!
