The English lesson is about homographs. These are words that have the same spelling but their meanings are different and their pronunciations may or may not be the same. These English words often confuse us and we end up using them using wrongly in our English communication. This ESL lesson will clear this doubt about similar sounding words in English- called the Homographs.

Bow - To bend your head or body forward, especially as a way of showing someone respect or expressing thanks to the people who have watched your performance

Content - matter included in something like a book, a show, a packet, etc.
This content is mainly meant for those interested in medicine.
Content - satisfied/happy
It is good to be content with one’s decision in life.
Contract - a legal agreement between two or more parties

Contract - to become smaller in size
This exercise consists of stretching and the contracting the muscles.
Desert - a hot and dry region
It is not easy to survive in a desert.
Desert - to leave someone alone and helpless
The old man was deserted by his family
Minute - a timeframe of 60 seconds
I’ll be back in a minute
Minute- tiny
The glass fell and broke into minute pieces
Tear - to rip apart, tore is the past tense
I was so angry that I tore the card into tiny bits.
Wind - moving air
A strong wind swung the door open
Wind - usually used to talk about a road that has many bends and curves
The road has paths that wind all along the way.
