Yea Subaru is a monster, both by his insane feets in strategy and manipulation and also by even having the mental fortitude to withstand RBD. The man is pretty strong even physically. He defeated the thugs in the alley like they were nothing in one loop and only lost in the others because of fear or recklessness. He outran the Mabeasts in Season 1 while carrying Ram, threw her more than several feet into the air, and was able to hold onto a cliff while carrying her. And in Aganau after years of constant but crude training he got to the point he was able to throw witch cultists around like they were nothing and clash almost toe-to-toe with Elsa. By our world's standards, he'd rival a top athlete or someone who's immensely genetically gifted with endurance and strength. The Re:Zero world is just Dark Souls levels of broken.
According to Author subaru can kill anyone except reinhard (and Sattela since Author did said Reinhard and Sattela can't beat each other and are equal ), and I thinks IF stories are proof enough to show us what subaru is capable of, even if they are non-canons they are still in the realm of possibilites and show us the potential future of Subaru if he had made wrong decisions in certain scenarios, also subaru can almost beat any pre-isekaid mc based on how insanely strong he is as a normal human and I think he could have easily been a great athlete if he wanted to.
Quick correction: the author stated the Reinhard is the strongest character and that no character ever was, will be, or is as strong as him or stronger. The author only stated that due to Reinhard having no way to permanently put down satella and vice Versa, it would be a draw.

Even if the virus didn't kill them, it would weaken them, then have a bunch of new Cell Max kill them. While Subaru is incredibly powerful due to his strategic/diplomatic prowess, his allies, and his Authorities, I can't comfortably say that he's "easily top 3" in the verse. Subaru said himself in Arc 7 that when facing certain levels of power, it can prove impossible to overcome them no matter how many loops. Outside of Reinhardt & Satella, people like Reid (while he was alive), Cecilus (who he knew he had no chances of beating), and Halibel (who's been portrayed as comparable to Cecilus) would be too much for him to handle currently in the story. That's why Subaru usually deals with these threats by trying to make them his allies instead. So, I'd say that Subaru still has a way to go before he can be considered Top 3.

In the web novels (obv spoilers), Al is shown to have basically the exact same authority, despite it being weaker, only shorter returns etc, but Subaru can basically just avoid him for the story and do what he wants, at least in the What Ifs. It’d be interesting to see a fight between the two to see how they interact, although Subaru could probably prep and immobilize him

Subaru is no where near weak he’s just constantly surrounded and going against monsters that go against reason, and to them Subaru must look like a monster , remember they don’t know about return by death all they see is a guy perfectly seeing through them and stopping them while stopping anyone close to him from dying, so if you can handle the immense mental damage that return by death causes it’s one of the most broken abilities in anime
Subaru is even still relatively strong as of episode one; he faces 3v1 odds against armed opponents and lays them the fuck out with his bare hands. Even with the foreknowledge granted by RBD, that's pretty impressive for a baseline human. You spend enough time watching anime, even outside shonen and seinen, and you start to forget how physically limited most people actually are.
It is probably because they make him look like the average skinny japanese high schooler even though he is far from it. I don't know many kids who have a 6 pack and 70 kg grip strength that can send people flying. Ngl he kind of hot 😂
My favorite aspect of the RE: Zero anime is the character development of the protagonist. Dude recognized his own faults and shortcomings. Choosing to change and not let his failures get to them he made great strides of effort to be the man he needed to be. Subaru's true weakness was never his physical one but his inner struggles which I still wouldn't really call a weakness just flaws that literally almost every human has. And he even gets over most of those struggles throughout the first 2 seasons and he is only improving so far.
In pride IF Subaru managed to kill all the antagonists( including Regulus) and heroes as well as set the the entire kingdom of fire while still having no ability other than RBD. But sure, weak 😮💨

What Subaru lacks in raw power he makes up for in the fact that he will always find a way. As long as Subaru’s save point isn’t too far back, he can always just try again whilst his enemy can’t. It’s the equivalent of brute forcing a puzzle, eventually you will solve it. Subaru only really looses when he gives up, but he can’t bring himself to do it. He’ll die millions of times to win, he’ll learn and strategize. To beat Subaru is to crush him so utterly that he breaks before he finds a way, and the only people that strong are Reinhard and Satella.

I think Subaru looks weak because he doesn't act like he's prepping for war. I think he should because of how his and the health of ppl he cares about is at risk in due to sudden witch cultists, the royal selection, and sudden magic monsters like how he has found out many times already. ig he wouldn't have to if he'd abuse RBD, but iirc he's not going to because of the witch tea party subplot nicely concluding to how he should take care of himself and that means not wantonly using RBD. Subaru may not be an expert in mathematics and science but when I comes down to strategy, adaptability and IQ then Subaru is one of the Smartest. That is the reason he is so damn strong. He can simply return from death and think of another way to beat his opponents and he can do this infinitely.

By our world's standards, he'd rival a top athlete or someone who's immensely genetically gifted with endurance and strength. The Re:Zero world is just Dark Souls levels of broken.

Quick correction: the author stated the Reinhard is the strongest character and that no character ever was, will be, or is as strong as him or stronger. The author only stated that due to Reinhard having no way to permanently put down satella and vice Versa, it would be a draw.

Once Goku and Vegeta come back from training, disperse the virus in the air where all the Saiyan's are remotely with the help of some spraying device like small drones or something. Even if the virus didn't kill them, it would weaken them, then have a bunch of new Cell Max kill them. He can do all of that remotely, Goku and Vegeta wouldn't even know about Subaru's existence and that he is the mastermind behind all of this 🤷🏻♂️. Even if it takes 100,000 or 1,000,000 attempts he will eventually find the answer, cause he will keep looping back until he gets it 🤷🏻
While Subaru is incredibly powerful due to his strategic/diplomatic prowess, his allies, and his Authorities, I can't comfortably say that he's "easily top 3" in the verse. Subaru said himself in Arc 7 that when facing certain levels of power, it can prove impossible to overcome them no matter how many loops. Outside of Reinhardt & Satella, people like Reid (while he was alive), Cecilus (who he knew he had no chances of beating), and Halibel (who's been portrayed as comparable to Cecilus) would be too much for him to handle currently in the story. That's why Subaru usually deals with these threats by trying to make them his allies instead. So, I'd say that Subaru still has a way to go before he can be considered Top 3.

In the web novels (obv spoilers), Al is shown to have basically the exact same authority, despite it being weaker, only shorter returns etc, but Subaru can basically just avoid him for the story and do what he wants, at least in the What Ifs. It’d be interesting to see a fight between the two to see how they interact, although Subaru could probably prep and immobilize him

Subaru is even still relatively strong as of episode one; he faces 3v1 odds against armed opponents and lays them the fuck out with his bare hands. Even with the foreknowledge granted by RBD, that's pretty impressive for a baseline human. You spend enough time watching anime, even outside shonen and seinen, and you start to forget how physically limited most people actually are.

My favorite aspect of the RE: Zero anime is the character development of the protagonist. Dude recognized his own faults and shortcomings. Choosing to change and not let his failures get to them he made great strides of effort to be the man he needed to be. The creator did a very good job and made the viewer and reader notice how strong Subaru is

It’s the equivalent of brute forcing a puzzle, eventually you will solve it. Subaru only really looses when he gives up, but he can’t bring himself to do it. He’ll die millions of times to win, he’ll learn and strategize. To beat Subaru is to crush him so utterly that he breaks before he finds a way, and the only people that strong are Reinhard and Satella.
