In this video I break my fourth box of the new 2023-24 Upper Deck Extended Series Hockey Hobby. And I again provide the chart with all the odds for the #ConnorBedard cards!

Congrats on the double Bedard! I just grabbed an empty box of 21-22 series 2 retail and had a look at the back of the box and it says on the back: "Stated odds reflect the entire production run; no ratio is guaranteed to exist within an actual pack, box or case". I'm pretty sure Upper Deck puts that on all their boxes. People say some crazy stuff eh. No one does their research anymore. #Dryden
Ya, UD (and all card companies) def have a half-dozen generic disclaimers, including that very common one. This said, from a practical standpoint, UD does "guarantee" particular hits notably if they are stated on the front of the box. E.g., if a high-end product states at least a single auto, we can contact UD if the box is missing that hit. This probably holds true for six YGs in UDS1/2. But, to "reflect the entire production run" is really just a basic statistical truth. The larger the sample size of boxes, the more the average hits from that sample align with the total mean outcome. As a matter of packing or collation, UD tries to ensure any given box or case is representative of the entire production run odds. But, often that is not possible. This works both ways, as the case hit box will obv outperform the average box in that case. Finally, UD and distributors often release products is waves. So let's say it's 20/21 The Cup. Based on when signings occur, it could be that the first wave might have more Lafreniere and Kaprizov case hits. Released months later, the second wave of 20/21 The Cup might have more legend case hits, if hard-signed autos arrive only in time for the packing of Wave 2. People might prefer two different waves than redemptions which will stale-date. I.e., the collation might change. But the entirety of the product run will align with the odds on the box. Albeit, sometimes the disclosed online checklist gets updated just prior to release, to more accurately match the final collation, or tardy product composition decisions. This is why the box odds, retail site descriptions, and checklists often have contradictions. Once printed, a box cannot be updated. But checklists should not be updated post release, i.e. after ppl have bought product.

But, you have to love error cards. There are so few across the hobby in this day and age. Given their print runs, it's insane how accurate UD is. My favorite is probably the 74/75 OPC Jacques Lemaire in a Sabres jersey. Lemaire only played for the Habs. But, OPC anticipated a trade that never occurred.

Hey Steve. The entire premise of my channel is to present the precise odds, often down to the decimal. I don't believe in luck. Cards that land 1.44 per case are not rare. They are simply case hits. I do hit case hits often on my channel. That relates to having uploaded 800 videos. If you are curious about the commonality or scarceness of a specific card, simply ask me.

Someone was fighting you on the math? You literally show the ratios and percentages. sure real life will yield different results, but fighting the posted odds?
Ya Ken, I know it's silly. Social media is really tough, because anyone can present just about anything as fact, especially unsubstantiated suspicion and fabrication. I agree 100% boxes can deliver differently from disclosed odds. This could be because of checklist or packing errors, massive variances as opposed to homogeneity in cases, or second and third waves of a product's release having different mixes of cards in them. UD is notorious for mediocre randomization and collation. The only time I take issue is when ppl disagree based on witnessing just a few box breaks, i.e. too small a sampling, which is not representative. Or, if they disagree without providing a rational or mathematically evidenced argument. But if you dig into the math on Extended, the way it breaks down is surprisingly consistent with UD Series as a whole. And my own boxes have not contradicted the stated odds. In fact, they rarely if ever do. (But even if they would, exceptions or single data points don't disprove rules.)
