It finally rained a few days after this was filmed but I would say there already has been a yield loss as hard as it was stressed. Yeah the baler only missed one bale so it worked great!
Looks like you need the little neighbor boy on a wagon back there Ross! Every time I watch one of your videos I want to come down there and help more and more, different scenery and not as boring lol. Also, we'll (at least dad and I) will be at the meeting on the 28th.
@@rosstheoliverman Is there anything special happening at the meeting? And it's during the county fair, correct? I thought I heard that they are featuring Oliver at the fair also, but maybe that's wrong.
John Deere balers haven't changed much since the 336 came out, except for the $50,000 price tag. Ever try planting a forage cover crop for the cows to graze on in the fall?
That video sure brings back memories, spent a few summers on our 88 row crop and a Case 200 baler, was 12 years old when I started baling hay, never forget that Oliver sound! I inherited that 88 this year, been sitting in the corner of the shed for a few years, needs new rear tires but otherwise it will be ready to hook up to the rake and put it to work this summer. Great videos!
I like seeing those fleetlines out there getting it done. Both the 77 and 88 sounded good. Even that JD baler seemed to work well. Just finished up my hay yesterday, which I'm always glad about. Oats will be ready in a couple weeks but is really short around here. Figures, when I have a good market for the straw at the local hardware store.
First off, since that was a John Deere baler, you should have known it would work just fine. I’m surprised the tractor and baler didn’t fight with each other. Sounds like you feel about the same way I do about wheat. Really enjoyed watching.
🤣 The baler and I fought for years but it finally agreed to play nice. Wheat never has been my favorite and it seems like they rob you when you sell the grain. Thanks for Watching!!
Yes. It doesn't do as good as a walker machine, but waaayyy better than the neighbors IH. Years ago I had a bearing go out, and they finished my wheat for me. I could squar bale it, but round baling did not work. So much straw pushed between the belts it was filling up the wrong part of the baler.
@@ThatOliverGuyChris Grandpa baled some years ago for a neighbor with our old round baler for that same reason. The belt balers wouldn’t keep it all in the right place. one guy tried to tell me he liked rotor straw better because when you cut the strings is just scattered so nicely for bedding. I can’t imagine it lasted very long because it’s already half wore out.
@@rosstheoliverman My uncle likes it for his horses because it spreads easy, but he square bales. I've sold straw out of the field to a couple of farmers that come and roll it up themselves. One with a JD and one with a New Holland belt baler, and I've made them with my Gehl. No complaints.
Ross I want to send you a couple of advil....listening to that 77 whine gives a guy a headache. Enjoy your videos hope you get some rain we were blessed with 2.7 inches last week
Somewhere there was an Oliver involved In our lives. We move frequently because we were dirt poor share croppers. My dad loved it and that’s about all I can remember.
Are wheat done really good, best I've ever raised 68.7 bu per acre. 800 bales of straw with oliver 60t bailer miss two bales. Neighbor got 22 round bails from it for bedding for show calves n few pigs they raise . I really think it helps the soil , usually disc chisel after it's done. Hope you get some rain been lucky here . From turkey creek farms. Be safe 🙏 for some rain for you
Thanks for the video I enjoy the making hay videos.
At least you were driving the tractor and not on the rack at 143 degrees!!!
True but I had to go back and pick them up by myself 🤣
That unmistakable Oliver transmission whine. 😁
It’s a soothing sound…ahhhh
Man you are dry, that poor corn needs a good all night rain.
Nice tractor and baler combo, didn’t miss a beat.

You had that Indian wheat Apache here and Apache there😅😅😅
great video sorry your wheat crop wasn't any good 15:26 😊

Oliver definitely made the best farm equipment back in the days plow balers tractors
Absolutely!

I don't think you would have found much of any straw if that had been a rotary combine. The 8900 sure gives nice straw to bale up.
Yes the old walker combines shine in that department. Have you ever baled after the 8570?

I think it’s soothing…..ahhh. Yes we did finally get some good rain last week but now it looks like another hot dry one for awhile :(
I'm curious Are you able to plant double crop beans??
Yes, and I did. They’re just starting to come up. This video was filmed several weeks ago.
@@rosstheoliverman Good for you!
We run a 1986 86 sieres claas square baler and it runs great till it doesn’t
That’s always the way
Why no Oliver baler?
Just haven’t got one yet
@@rosstheoliverman I found one I am trying to convince a guy to sell me. A 520
🚜🚜👍
Thanks Tom!

That is good! I worked it up and planted double crop beans. This video was filmed about 2 weeks ago.
Any rain
Worst baler we had was an International
I’ve never run one of those. I think there were a few around but mostly Deere, Oliver, AC and New Holland.
My grandpa thinks he has one of the only claas square baler in southern indiana
I see raccoon tracks by your gas cap like on my 55
Yeah those stupid things. I’ve noticed tracks here lately so they must have hatched more recently haha
A little bit of something is better than a lot of nothing. I can't believe you're using a John Deere baler! What is wrong with you Ross? Lol
🤣 If grandpa hadn’t bought it new it wouldn’t be around. That’s it’s only saving feature.
@@rosstheoliverman it looks like it still does a pretty good job and its way cheaper than a new one.
@@jonathanfrecking1210 it does a great job but it’s biggest feature is that parts are easy to find. The dealer has a lot on hand still.
I'm ashamed of you Ross I cannot believe your pulling John Deere LOL
