Do you have a pinout for a KVLShield to XTS3000 adapter? I have data, sense, and ground coming out of the shield, but I'm not sure where those go on the XTS side. I also know that you have to short some of the pins on the XTS side to enable keyloading, but again I don't know which. Also, I wanted to say that I'm really enjoying your channel! I'm getting back into radios now that P25 stuff is finally becoming affordable.
@@anongator I’m told it should be the same keyloading cable as the XTS5000 if that helps at all. I can’t find a pinout for that either. Apparently the MTS2000/XTS2.5/3/5000 use the same keyloading cable, despite using different programming cables. The KFDTool FAQ says the ASTRO portable series over R07 firmware and EMC 3 does support astro25 keyloading, and mine are over that version number, so here’s hoping! I found a cheap cable on eBay that purports to be a keyloading cable for the XTS5000, it goes from the universal connector to a 3.5mm TRRS connector. That’ll be here like next month, but I’m impatient you see :) I’ll still have to do some trial and error with that, since I’m building the KFDShield on a perf board and don’t have a 3.5mm connector on it. Thanks!
@@anongator No worries! I could find pinouts for the universal connector, but none that show what pins need to be shorted to enable keyloading, or where data and sense from a KFD would go. Maybe I’m just not using the right keywords. I did just now find a reference to a thread that’s behind a paywall on a certain forum for radio professionals, so it might be in there, but I don’t want to shell out $50 to find out. If you do find anything, or end up ringing out your connector, let me know!
@@anongator I finally found a pinout by chance today, and was able to successfully load my XTS3000s by taping wires to the connectors and holding them down. It worked, but it's definitely not what motorola's engineers had in mind XD . A proper cable will be here next month.
I have looked and the website several times each time they are sold out, any way to help locate one? Would love to support a small business that makes a product that works.
So right now the maker of the KFD Shield is taking a break as she's getting a bit burnt out. There are a few of us working with her on getting other manufacturers to make them. The issue is keeping quality high. So a new batch of them may start existing, just got a slightly higher price
@@anongator I've read several posts of people having difficulty getting the software into the arduino, and it's not really something I want to hassle with either. I just want to plug something into my laptop screw on the hirose adapter and be done with it. If someone were selling already configured shields for this, they would make a mint.
Hmm strange. Her website works for me. However the KFDshield is now EOL and replaced by the KFDPico. I'll try and find a link. She partnered with someone else to manufacture and sell them
Yes and no. It flips back and forth every other week, as she has to hand make them and doesn't want to get bogged down with orders. If you email her she'll let you know when she's ready for the next batch of orders.
I'd love for the kfdshield to not be continuously out of stock
Yea, they are just too popular..
And she's making them by hand XD
@@anongator Why not just sell some as kits?

I don't currently. The XTS3000 may not work FYI. Those 99.9% of the time didn't support astro25 keyloading, just ASN mode. The KFD can't do ASN

@thecooldude9999 yes it's the same keyload adapter. I don't have the pinout on hand. There should be some online

Nope. And I'd just email her the go back in stock quickly as she just shuts down ordering every so often to let her catch up as she handbuilds them
Did it work for you?
@@LeviStrzepekmy kfdmini keyload cable is broken when I get it.
Can you give us the pinout of the 3 wire Hirose cable?
It's on Omaha communications GitHub,
Is there another turnkey alternative to the KFDtool? I don't want to fuck with getting the shield working, and the exposed board.
There's no fucking to get the shield working and I've seen cases for em out there. The shield is the only alternative that isn't a waste of money

Huh, haven't seen those. You just open the file, connect via USB. And hit flash
Can confirm it’s extremely easy to do. Coming from someone who has never touched an Arduino before.
So... is the kfdshield dead? The domain is still registered but get "site cannot be reached" when attempting to access it....
