I've always thought he was a Wendigo that regained his self awareness. Can't explain the magical ability from him, the type I mean, but Elias' similarity to a Wendigo is almost striking. Plus, he has mentioned that he's certain he's eaten humans before, and that's what Wendigos do.

@@toxicblood115 a leshy, perhabs? the only thing that doesn`t fit is the wolf skull with Markhor-like horns and him being able to hide in shadows, but we could brush that off cause he is a mage(?).
@@angelaspecialfox_ro289 Neh... Leshy is a forest spirit, master of plants and animals of the forest. The only similarity would be shapeshifting ability (and that thing is far from uncommon among spirits worldwide)... And, I guess, manners (leshy does not like foul words), but this thing is not uncommon as well.
Wendigos classically aren't non-human creatures, though. They're humans possessed by a spirit of pure hunger. And Elias doesn't strike me as the insatiable cannibal type.

When I first watched this show and saw Chise's recklessness, I thought she was putting herself in dangerous situations on purpose.
