Wow! Especially because I was not a musician, it took a while for my musical ears to grow enough to dig, and eventually love, Monk's music. From a great bio, I learned a lot about him, his life, and his approach to music. Many years later, I've appreciated T. S. Monk's contributions to his Dad's legacy. This short piece is another wonderful window into both of their lives.
In my later years, Barry Harris became my favorite interpreter of his music. Walter Davis, Jr., Bill Holman, and Carmen McRae have done wonderful things.
