As someone who grew up in the church I turned my back on God for so many years. The last few years I got into all The new age spirituality but I never had the peace that I have when I follow Jesus. I decided to repent and give my life back to the lord.
Having to deal with my own trauma I realize jealousy is something we all deal with. Pride isn’t the beginning of jealousy. Pride is a mask our unworthiness wears. It’s a sign something needs to change. It’s a lot easier to simply declare ourselves right as opposed sitting down and evaluating if our actions are righteous. Unworthiness takes place when we don’t acknowledge the truth and grow the fruits of the spirit. Somewhere along the line your fruit, seeds stopped coming from the tree of life and now everything is seen as “good and evil”. Three types of jealousy: I want what you have, I don’t want what you have but I don’t want you to have it and I want you to want what I have. (The I want you to want what I’ve got is a killer, you’re not living for you at that point let alone God.) The fruit that isn’t growing when you’re jealous is goodness. Are you used to being treated good? If so have you forgotten that or taking it for granted. We start creating and being jealous when we lack receiving and giving goodness. It’s one of the things we do when everything is attached to a “price”. We spend so much time focused on how we can make bad good, “control” , lower the cost of a particular experience that we often forget to ponder what kind of life my words and actions are creating.
I love that you're talking about control here because it was just mentioned in the sermon but hit me hard!! I have not thought about control and anxiety as side effects of the pride of life lure.
I wish y’all would talk about people (in depth) who worship politicians, and not the Lord. People who think the politicians are going to solve the world, rather than the Lord… That goes for the right, especially, I don’t know how many people I know who think Trump will save the world, rather than them getting off the couch and spreading the gospel. They literally worship Trump, and not our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Jesus said not to go around calling people that. Acknowledging that someone acts that way, such as the rich man who desired bigger barns but was going to die that night is a statement of fact.
