25% of your salary goes straight to government as taxes. 30 to 40 % goes to your residence, 20% goes to food. 10% goes to maintenance, and insurance. Rest is all your if keep yourself indoor.

They are not paid much during residency but once done, they can easily start with around $ 280,000/ year to more than $ 1,000,000/ year depending upon their speciality. Surgeons make the most. IT professionals are good but they do not come anywhere near physicians (MD), pharmacists (Pharm. D)and registered nurses (RN) in terms of salary. I live in Dallas , TX . My monthly take home salary is $8100 and here's the breakdown of
    my expenses-
    Rent - $1500 (1B1B apt , I live alone)
    Groceries - max $500
    Car + fuel - $500
    Utilities : max $200
    Misc : $300
    Total expenses : $3000
I save min $5000/ month but I agree it would be lesser when living with a family (but again you will have extra earning members too).
PS : insurance is paid by the company and some proportion by myself so it gets deducted in the salary $8100 is after tax ,410K (5%) and all insurances.

    But your are forgetting taxes.
Like 7.65 % Social security and. Federal Income tax which may be higher , high slab is 35% but 11:49 average may come to 15 to 20 % . Add state income tax, some county and city take additional tax
So 150,000 will bring after tax money $110,000 to 120,000.

It was quite hilarious when you said in Mumbai you can get lavish 2 BHK at 30 to 40k? Rally mam… are you talking about 2010? Then you are comparing rent cost of Bay Area in SFO. Get the current price in Andheri and then rental cost somewhere is San Jose.. that may relate to some extent. Overall you touched upon all rights things but 120k salary is only good for grade C cities. Even in your great state of Texas- Dallas/Houston, 120k is not good enough.

We spend INR 800/- to 1000/- (for 45 minutes) for an hour here in Mumbai, India for Occupational Therapy for our child with mild Autism. Thats too high compare to Indian lifestyle and ignorance towards such issues!
Just think Country like America which is highly aware and concern about Child Upbringing, should be much higher in Fees and expenses, and so salaries of such special educator!
Beleive you me... Special Educator have a great future in USA for sure!!!!!
      All the best!!! 😊

North America and U.S. are high-cost economies. So, when economists talk about GDP and foreign exchange reserves in terms of US $, I squirm. If you look at purchasing power parity (PPP), we Indians are much well off. Ours is a welfare state. Everything is subsidised. Even poor can avail quality medical treatment. Foodstuff is cheap, cheap electricity, public transport, very little direct tax. In short, anybody can survive in India. That's why there's population explosion.
