- In this video we take a look at Beelink's SER6 mini PC featuring AMD's Ryzen 9 6900HX. This follows up the Beelink SER6 Max as a cut down model with less premium features. But is it still good? We take a look at it indepth to answer that question.

Apologies for the audio issues on this one.
SO many innuendos in one video Robbie haha also in RSPC3 how do you increase the frames on the emulator?
Also in the topic of emlation, what do you to emulate Zelda BOTW? Where can I download it?
It doesn't work in every game, but you can try it by going into the game configuration > Advanced and setting the Vblank frequency to double the framerate you're looking to achieve. For example, setting it to 240Hz will allow a framerate of up to 120FPS.
You'll need to grab the emulator CEMU and also source the game. To get a higher framerate and resolution, you need to use the addon feature for the game in the CEMU emulator. I might make a tutorial for each emulator at some point if there's interest in it.
@@Robtech Cheers Rob.
Great review as always dude, cheers!
Just got one. Thanks for the review
I had no issues with the pre-installed Crucial P3 Plus 500GB SSD. I also installed the Crucial NVMe driver available from Crucial what did even give me sequential a little bit over 5000 MB/s with reads and 4600 MB/s with sequential writes. Although, because issues seen with the Beelink W11 Pro Pre-Install (disabled VRAM, issues with installation of LibreOffice (Error 2503) and missing software), I did a clean install with W11 Pro, made an USB boot stick with the media creation software from Microsoft. Fan noise is still acceptable with the Performance 54 Watt mode. Plus I can confirm that the G.Skill DDR5 4800 Mhz CL 34 32 GB RAM kit runs at these settings using XPX profile. I was lucky to get a SER6 on Amazon with 16GB RAM and 500 GB SSD for about 400 Euros with a 100 Euro coupon in April 2024.
RE: The SSD I think there is a NAND lottery on it and it's usually cheap QLC. You can use phison and SMI tools to check the NAND type - let me know if you need links to the tools. (I think the P3 used the SMI one)
Hey. You're doing a great job. No complaints here.
In the US if you hunt around on Amazon this can be found 32gb 500gb SSD for $463.00 too hook up to a 4k flat screen TV for cheap. Great internet portal , and good for some classic older PC gaming and emulation . Its hard to beat at that price.
Any chance of a review on the Minisforum um690 Pro? Wonder if they left the OC options active...
Nice review
Have you tried running more graphic-intensive shaders like CRT Royale and CRT Royal Kazumi (Sp?) on the more retro, pixel-graphic consoles (NES, SNES). Trying to find a mini PC with the graphcis power to do such a thing at 4k so I can make it look like a CRT.
Does it have good aroma coming from air vents when it is powered on?
Beelink really makes these little machines to stand out.
I don't have OCD but my Apollo P40 Projector has an upside down HDMI port (unless you ceiling mount it, then the unit is upside down but the port is right side up lol). This sucks because I need a low profile HDMI to fit it on my shelf up against the wall. 90 degree adaptor makes the wire go straight up over the top of the unit. I had to buy a 180 degree adaptor so the wire bends down behind the unit
Weird to me that they brought back the 6900HX (originally in GTR6). It def ran hot/noisy in that old model.
I notice USB port orientation of many mini PC brands tend to be upside down. Isn't that easier to collect dusts?
Which port is fot wifi and what's the size or whatever u call it for the hdmi port
The Minisforum UM690 (non-S) was one that allowed memory overclocking that worked. The 690S "lets" you set the memory higher but it does nothing.
Yeah, that's the one. Didn't review the S.
@@Robtech I really dig the "S" but would have liked the option to adjust the memory speed. Theres one single video on RUclips that I have found where a guy tested this and bumping the memory speed to 5600 Mt gave about a 10-15% performance bump on the 680m. Been wanting to get my hands on one of the older 690 non s to play with...
Thanks for mentioning the shallow USB ports. That does bother me a bit for safety reasons.
But you can keep saying SER instead of S-E-R. 😂
😂
IT'S MA'AM
As always any prebuilt you get, wipe it and fresh install from a trusted source
Have you tried allocating more ram to the gpu ? Would be interesting to see if it boosts performance in a meaningful way
Yes, seems to improve 1% lows, but overall 1080P low textured don't need a lot of Vram. Increasing it would help at higher resolutions, but the framerate isn't there to make it worthwhile
I've had good luck with beelink.
Hey can you make a review on Bmax B8 Pro mini
Interesting discovery on my 690S - I have been able to set the memory to 5200 MT (I have Crucial 5600MT in the box). When setting it to 5200MT the first time, the system booted, Windows Task Manager registered the memory running at 5200 MT but then the system hung. When I rebooted it, the GPU driver failed to load, so I rebooted again and, for no reason whatsoever, I went back into the bios and set the memory to 5600 MT....system started fine, graphic drivers ran as they should, and the Memory still shows it running at 5200 MT! need to run some benchmarks to see what results are...just takes forever on first boot after messing with mem settings
Looks great in an office setting!
My only complaint is that there's no VESA mounting. 😞
Seems to be the trend now.
What about the voltage? There’s ambiguous information about whether it could be used in 220v, which is my case.
Universal power supplies (100-240v) are used with minis as far as I can remember.
my monitor has a 90w PD output. Is it sufficient to power this PC via USB4?
You might have to drop the max power draw in the BIOS from 54W to something lower if the mini starts powering off.
*What better miniPC beelink Ser6 max r9 6800hx vs Laptop Lenovo LOQ 15IAX9-01 i5-12450HX ?*
The 6900HX is a better chip.
*sigh* Why, why, why not regular OS? I would do a clean installation and hope the OS was activated fine.
The USB ports was a weird thing. Like...wtf?
Anyway, good review as always, thanks for sharing.
Interesting review, and I've been curious. Rob, I know that the Beelink specs say that they're PCIe gen 4, but I wonder how many lanes each has available, given that you're seeing worse performance from the same drive used in that earlier unit. I agree that it's a shame to see a regression to all-plastic (or close enough, as I assume the grills are metal), as I like that my 5600H has a metal case. Still, having a secondary fan that actually has holes for outside air pull is nice.
Coming up as Gen4 x4 for both. Just this drive having really poor write 😓
@@Robtech Thanks Rob. I had assumed they would be, but the performance made me question that assumption.

@@Robtech Please, you're welcome.
I've been watching some of your other videos and I must say, I quite like the humor you're sprinkling around. 😄
How is it going after all this time of use? (If you used it)
Same as in the review
You shrug so much sometimes it looks like you’re stuck in the middle of a shrug for several minutes, ready to shrug again faster than ever.
🤷♂️
@@Robtech keep on shrugging!
Is this mini PC capable of running Sea of Thieves?
Beats the minimum requirements no problem. Doesn't match the recommended.
Value for money for gamer, overkill for Office user.
Just bough one, downgraded from big ass tower to Mini pc
At 600 $ Minisforum mini PC with arc 730M gpu IS way BETTER THAN THIS it has a rtx 3050 laptop level GPU
@@Horvat04minisforum hn2673 um780 xtx is also better.1 usb 4 port + 1 occulink port 65gbps external gpu possible
What that name device miniPc?
I need miniPc rtx 3050 ?*know laptop level GPU
I don't understand what the appeal is with these Mini cyber security risks, price to Performance you can get a regular desktop from a reputable brand. I know some people say because they're mini they're portable but you would still need to carry a screen and a keyboard. the fact that several of these lesser PC makers have been shown to ship PCS with malware makes it a hard pass.
