@@marxfishing hello mate.. Just wondering which month this was filmed? Says uploaded in May but wondering if that is when you filmed it? Cheers to your good vids
Pee Wee, that’s a perfect description actually. They pull hard, but don’t run fast, lots of power, but not speed. The big ones go 20lbs or so, and they really pull.
@Finding Joe, Join my page on Facebook if you're on it. Landbased Legends, I can give you some spots to catch some decent snapper if you're willing to sit through the cold nights. hahaha
hey man great vid, thinking of hitting up dockies when the snapper start coming in during may. Just wondering which water column u work ur jig and what retrieve?
looks like good fun mate. i had a day just like this at docklands around the same time last year. i went out and tried for pinkies yesterday but got none, ended up getting 11 bream tho so it was good fun
Lucas Cordedda yeah, seems likes it’s either heaps or none when it come to the docklands snapper. You’ve done well well with the bream, I still haven’t been able to catch a single bream out of there.
Fishin' with Marki Mark, thanks! I was in Sydney a while back, and the fishing next to the Opera House and around the harbour by the Aquarium, was just nuts. The bream were as big as snapper, we got some nice size flathead too. No one seems to fish that area. Not sure if you have fished that area, but you should, if you’re not too far away. (Not suppose to keep/eat the fish though, apparently they’re toxic).
Ahh cheers mate! not many people fish there because its a "no fishing zone around the Opera House & around the Aquarium". However, it is rare someone will bother you if your fishing with a light outfit throwing some plastics. Yes, only can eat East of harbour bridge and limited consumption of fish per month. I'll definitely give it a go, now chasing kings as they have come into the harbour. :) Tight-Lines bud.
Yeah, there is a large part of that area that you can fish (or at least you could 2 years ago when I was there). There is a small part you can't, but the areas that you can also have no fishing signs on many of the docks and landings areas for tour boats and such. Which is to advise not to fish off those docks, and people assume that means you can't fish anywhere in that area, and get that area confused with the small area that you can't fish at all. A few years ago I found a map, online, that outlined it all.
That's an awesome red for Docklands! About 2.5-3kg? I'm surprised how Melbourne fishing has changed since netting has stopped. Some people will agree some people won't. But it's improved ALOT since netting was banned
Awesome work! I'm hoping to try my luck again there last week was full of babies lol. Hopefully next week will produce bigger fish! Also how should I work the plastics next week? Its pretty calm and all sunny. Cheers
6"6" Rod (2-4 or 3-6kg), 2500 size reel, 10-15lb braid, 10-15lb fluro leader. 1/8 oz jig head. My preferred snapper plastics are the Jiggle 4" worm, and the Jiggle 2.5" paddle tail grub. link here - jigglefishing.com.au/collections/soft-plastics?aff=3
Yeh, I thought I was making a statement about how good these kids were, getting off the couch and getting out fishing.... then they reminded me that they had skipped school to go fishing! lol.
2.5 to 3.5 inch curly tail grubs, brand and colour didn’t seem to matter. Most of the fish were taken as the lure was falling to the bottom, after the cast, but otherwise just hop it back to you, leave long pauses. 1/6 oz jig head, or 1/4 if its a bit windy, size 1/0 hook. Using scent on the lure won’t hurt either.
There are no health warnings about eating the snapper, there are about eating the bream. The Bream live there, and the old industrial toxins in the river become concentrated in the fishes flesh. The Snapper are just swimming through, they are the same fish you would catch in Williamstown or St Kilda.
@@marxfishing Thanks for the info!! someone told me that the darker snapper live in docklands and the lighter and brighter ones are just passing through.
The darker fish seem to be the ones that don’t leave Port Phillip Bay, not the docklands. Keep in mind that no one knows any of this stuff for sure, it’s just based on observations, there have been no scientific studies or evidence about any of it.
@@marxfishing Thanks for the information ill probably head down this week for bream or anything i can catch(hopefully still snapper but probably not)!!
Yah, the Snapper are very hit or miss. I would go to target bream and hope maybe the snapper show up. The bream are very smart though. Need to fish light and have a few lure options.
elbichito2, all of the above, in a kayak or a boat you are just about guaranteed, there are so many of them, but the piers are getting plenty too. Lots and lots of very small ones, but if you keep going you will get some keepers too. Docklands would be worth a try too.
There are health warnings about the bream, because of the old industrial contaminants in the river bed. The bream live there year round, and the contamination becomes concentrated in their flesh. The Snapper are just passing through, they spend most of their time out in the bay, there are no health warnings on eating the snapper. These are the same fish you would catch in St Kilda or Williamstown.
Itried soft plastics (silver paddle tail, green curly tail, silver small curlytail) on Mon 14th and had nothing - not even a bite or a jab on the opposite side from where you guys fished...
Ha! Don’t worry, I have fished that same spot and caught nothing too. I have been meaning to do a video about how to fish the docklands. I’ll try to do that in the next few weeks.
Paul Sparks, I have only just become aware that they school up in there. April and May appear to be good months, and I just had reports they were getting them in there last week too. They may even be there year round.
Danella Saunders, the reels is a Shimano Sedona 3000, I believe it’s the best reel for the money. The rod is a cheap used one from eBay, but I recommend the Shimano Sonic Pro rods, great rod for a very low price.

Land Fish TV Thanks for the tip-off!
Love the start to this one, very dramatic. Still yet to catch a decent snapper. Might have to try the docklands.
Finding Joe thanks, yeah, as I’m sure you know, it’s pretty cool when you are able to find the right music for the right footage.

Brendan Torpy 100% agree, can’t be sure if it’s because of the netting ban or not, but it has greatly improved of late, so could be.
Lol. Nice one first time. I see someone land a fish with a bucket
ophoe ophoe, I know! Pretty clever kids.
Wonder why he has stopped making videos?
Hi, Mark, it's a great video, I just moved to city now, can you tell me is this still a good time for fishing at docklands now? thanks very much!

What would recommend for handline for snapper in docklands. In include the tackles and bait. Thank in advance
I would say 10lb line 2/0 hook for pinkies, 20lb line 4/0 for snapper, chicken seems to be great bait down there, I would use chicken or squid.
@@marxfishing can 2/0 circle catch snapper?

Finn Mcdowell Yeah, 2.5 inch Zman grubs. The big fish, the kid got, was on a 3.5 inch Zman grub.
We were adding s factor scent as well.
Do you keep snapper from there? I thought it was polluted there?

About now, autumn seems to be the time for them. There are heaps around Williamstown at moment.

It’s totally hit or miss, there either ON, or it’s nothing at all. I went and got nothing the other day too.
The pink or cavier color softies seem to work incredibly well on pinkies and bream
What rig you using mate?
I lived there , I was trying to find places to fish . I think they put up a sign says no fishing there
Yeah, there are some no fishing areas, but plenty of area you can fish too. The no fishing zone is mostly on the floating docks.
Hello im new to melbourne, do i need a permit to fish in this area? And what are the recommendations for fishing in this area
You need a Victorian fishing license, but no other, special, permit for this area.
Any lure recommendations beside grubs

Ok will look for 4 inch plastics, quite big eh
Ok just saw how thin it is hha, what color do you recommend and do add any extra scent
They put a stop to fishing on jetts where boats dock. Good to see use can still fish in peace
