I wish all stylists took their clients seriously when we show them and tell them what we want. I love how you explained all this. You are a very good teacher. Now I hope I can do this or show someone this to do for me. Thank you!
In the 70s, my thick hair was cut in what we called a Long Gypsy. Un-PC these days, I do not care. It was considered a compliment in my day, especially to a friend who was named Gypsy & Romany ancestry, she bragged she had a haircut "named" after her. laughing... It was a great cut, especially if you had thick hair that was 2' long or longer. You'd finger-comb it & go, no need for any blow-drying or anything else. We had the sort of bangs you just showed how to cut, not the curtain ones or those flippy Fawcett ones. Thank you for this demonstration! These days, finding someone who knows how to cut a Long Gypsy is impossible. I see some call the shorter version a shag & what they call "long" is medium-short to short to me. A shag was what the tv "Mrs. Brady" wore, a very short cut that was a cross between a mullet & pixie cut. ugh. Worse, these days, they will cut your hair to a couple of inches below your shoulders for "long". So, I have to cut my own hair, using the ponytail version to cut in the feathery layers because my hair is over 2' long, my arms are not. Trying to cut that long of hair using the angles on your own... laughing... I miss my bangs & now I can add them back. Yep, a middle-aged woman with a silvery, thick 2'+ long hair & wearing a 70s cut. laughing... Thanks again.
Honestly, this was almost a year ago, I just followed this tutorial and I have the best hairstyle I have had in years! Thank you for explaining this so well that even someone who never cuts hair, can do this! You know your stuff!!
Not a hairstylist but just used this to help fix my overgrown bottleneck bangs I cut a month ago. And it came out cute but I wanted to learn the proper method! And ahhhh even cuter. I love it. I feel adorable. Thank you for this.
You are amazingly charming! Your professionalism is so beautiful, soft and natural that it’s hard to imagine that behind this ease there is a huge amount of work and experience. Gratitude! This is the best video from the ocean about cutting bangs.
Genius! I am going to cut my hair and take the bangs plunge following your guide! I love this look, it’s very French, very soft and very 60s chic! I was in Santa Monica over Memorial Day weekend, wished I could have seen this sooner I would have stopped by your salon for a cut and style!
I never heard that term before Bottleneck bangs, but when I saw the finished look on the right side of the preview images I got excited. This is exactly what I used to have then my stylist moved and I had to find another, and another...they've all been clueless. Omg, I've been wanting
Thanks for this video. I bought a wig with bangs, mind you, this is my first wig everrrrrrr. It came with blunt/straight cut bangs (is what I learned they are called) and I do NOT know anything about cutting or hair. I wanted a more natural looking bang. I watched your video and decided to just 'tip cut' the bangs and VOILA! I love the wig now. After 3 years of it sitting on a styro head I can finally wear it.❤
Thank you! I love my bottleneck bangs so much! I’m not a hairstylist at all, just a normal person and I used your video to cut my bangs. They turned out great and just how I wanted them to be. The styling with the blow dryer helped a lot too because I have frizzy/curly hair so my bangs will stick in every direction if not styled with a little heat.
Omg thank you so much. I cut my bangs and I was nervous but I love them. I haven’t felt pretty in a long time and this makes me so happy. Seriously thank you ❤
I love how you advise teaching your clients how to style. How many times have I gone for haircuts and I get to watch them do the haircut but then they turn me away for this dialing almost like they’re going to keep it secret how they make it look so good so I can’t duplicated at home. I really did suspect that was the reason for it.
I never saw a Instruction, that was that good. Thank yiu very much for that! I love that you are realistic whan you talk about the clinet - so empathic 😊
I cut my own bangs for the first time a few months ago and it took three recuts to get cute bangs. I was really happy with them but then I didn't not retouch them and when they got way too long I tried cutting them again and majorly messed up. I've been wearing them bunched up on my head for weeks now. But I honestly was aiming for exactly what you've shown all this time and I am screaming at how cuuuuuuute your cut turned out! And I hope with your helpful instructions I will be able to turn around my messed up bangs... But yeah. Kinda wished I had 'em long again so I could cut right like you've shown. And I also really adore how much you love your job and caring for you clients! Your energy is is refreshing! Thanks for your help and have a great day.
I absolutely love the way you taught this, thank you so much for sharing! I practiced on my mannekin head as I followed along on your video. Now I feel confident doing this for my clients❤️. I hope you post more tutorials, I love the way you teach💕
Perfect bangs!! Can’t seem to get any hairdresser to do it as perfectly as you have. I may just do it myself as you have done an exceptional job breaking it down. Thank you so much for sharing your talent. Coming from New York here.
I’ve been cutting my own bangs like this at home on and off since I was 15 because I didn’t know how to ask for it at the salon and figured I could just try it myself. I had no idea what they were called. I just knew I liked it from 60s French girls like Bardot and Francois hardy. Thanks for the video at least I have some better advice and direction!
I’ve cut my bangs before with other techniques and they would turn out good. But this! This is now my go-to technique 😊 I tried it today and I’m in love with the outcome. Thank you!
Love it!!! ❤❤❤ I love this, it's the real curtain bangs, in the Bardoht style, not the long ones those aren't bangs, I love it, thank you and it's beautiful!!!
I love this! Great tutorial! This is exactly what I want done with my hair, but no one seems to understand how to do it. Any tips on how to explain this in a quicker way to a stylist without sounding...idk rude i guess? I dont want to be telling them how to do their job, but its my hair. 😅
i had requested a hairstyle for these very bangs and they gave me curtain bangs, even styled them all wispy and outwards. this is exactly what i ACTUALLY wanted and i just gave it to myself with a random pair of scissors lol, but you were so detailed and easy to follow and it turned out great!!! i actually like them more than the curatin bangs they gave me lol
God I love it! Guess I have to take a trip from Macon, ga to California to get my hair cut. There isn't anyone here that can cut hair. They all need to go back to school. Please cut my hair. Great job,
I've been asking for this for years and only one stylist has successfully done it. Pretty sure I fell in love with the cut when I watched Zooey Deschanel in New Girl.
Been wearing this style for a couple years now and doing it myself so I can customize it rather than explain to stylists how I want it shorte and longer in different spots
Lol. You did warn us about the blow dryer and I was like meh.... I'm good.... Uh no I laughed so hard cause I quickly reached for the volume button... Great tutorial❤
I just got bangs and told her "I want it to look like a curtain bang on the sides but a fringe in the middle" not realizing i was explaining a "bottleneck bang" so when I go for a thim I'll tell her to trim up my bottleneck bangs to keep my shape. Thanks for this video
I like these bangs Im always wearing my hair up so I think it looks very nice with a ponytail I'm gonna try my self last time I got a hair cut I asked for something like this to my stylist no she didn't do it right
Now i know what i (not a hairstylist) have been doing off and on with my hair these past few years. And yes, extending it into the lenght, so it looks and feels more alive. Thanks for the video. Greetings from The netherlands😁
Why cant all hairdressers know how to cut this? It baffles me how hard it is to find stylists who know how to cut different fringes. Isnt this basic? But its the hardest thing..
If I could get my hairdresser to do this cut...... great with color and chemicals, but don't like his cuts. Tired of having to go to two hairdressers because I've not found one who does both well. I saw this tutorial and tried it. I did it badly, but out still looks great. Hopefully I will improve. I will take a picture to my hairdresser now that I know what the style is called, but hopes are not high there.
I wish all stylists took their clients seriously when we show them and tell them what we want. I love how you explained all this. You are a very good teacher. Now I hope I can do this or show someone this to do for me. Thank you!

This gives me hope because I plan on doing it tonight!!
Worst I've ever seen.
I have been asking stylists for this for years…they can’t do it so I do it myself.
Same here. So I'm trying it myself today 😬
I know right! I just don't think I trust them to do it as good as this. I feel like I'll probably have to do it myself!
Omg facts. I brought in a picture of Dakota Johnson and she decided to give me baby bangs 💀
I can’t find anyone to get my bangs right. It’s ridiculous.
@@jessicagrimmett5093😱
Im not gonna lie, i used your video to cut my own bangs today and im in LOVE with the outcome!! Its added life to my hair/face
I'm about to try it myself! 😳
@@crazydiamond4565 IM DOING MIND TOMORROW
@@cookieswithmustachesaj3442 Mine turned out fabulous! ✨
@@crazydiamond4565 YAYYY SLAY!!!
Same. I've done it myself twice now.
Out of all these Covid DIY fringe bang videos - this is by far the best!
This is perfect for me. I love how you’ve explained the blowdry too. I’m so happy I’ve learnt this technique
Not a hairstylist but just used this to help fix my overgrown bottleneck bangs I cut a month ago. And it came out cute but I wanted to learn the proper method! And ahhhh even cuter. I love it. I feel adorable. Thank you for this.
Thank you for addressing density! You answered my question of how far back to section it.
You are amazingly charming! Your professionalism is so beautiful, soft and natural that it’s hard to imagine that behind this ease there is a huge amount of work and experience. Gratitude! This is the best video from the ocean about cutting bangs.

Oh I wish I could add a picture! Thank you for the instructions!! My bangs looks awesome 🤌🏼😻
Omg thank you so much. I cut my bangs and I was nervous but I love them. I haven’t felt pretty in a long time and this makes me so happy. Seriously thank you ❤
Going to attempt to cut my own hair and give myself bangs for the very first time . Wish me luck , watching this from Orlando Florida!
How did it turn out. And did you buy all the different scissors the uses ?
It turned out ok I guess, I got scared and didn't cut as much as I was planning on lol
I love how you advise teaching your clients how to style. I've got a crazy amt of density and 99% of all my stylists never adjust properly. Thanks for your video, you explain great!

I've been asking for this for years and only one stylist has successfully done it. Pretty sure I fell in love with the cut when I watched Zooey Deschanel in New Girl.
Just saw the part where she referenced Zooey Deschanel bangs...too funny. Her bangs were always so dense in the show lol

I wish you wouldve done this in a much more condensed video...this is just REALLLYYYYYY long to be a tutorial
I cut my bangs a little longer than this but what do we do when we have fine hair and want the texture to look thicker?
Just watch this, I really like it. Thanks for explaining everything clearly, :)
Can you please do a video about how to do bottleneck bangs with a side part? Thank you.

If I wear a side part should I still section it with a middle part before cutting?
Where have you been my whole life! ❤
I’m doing this ASAP. I’m in GA but wish you could do my hair so badly
