@@stevenmeyers5834 thank you so much, Steven! Yes the Leader Badge came from doing research/brainstorming about how to curtail quarterbacking in coop games. @@Dusclipse thanks so much Karla! Yeah it’s so interesting how just having something to point to can help with the quarterbacking issue which, like you said, can be even more of an issue with kids playing.

Hello Pam! New fan here. Congrats on the getting the game, what an accomplishment! I've been catching up on your videos and I find them very helpful. This video seems like the perfect place for this question I had for a long time: Is there any restrictions when it comes to designing a game that deliberately includes an existing IP? In this case, the Disney characters? Did you get the licensing from Disney beforehand or did you let your publisher negotiate it out with them or is there some contract you have to sign for using them? Or do you have to get a commission from them? Or somebody has to pay somebody some money somewhere? This is a subject I've been wanting to explore for some time. Look forward to your answer. Thanks!
@@satrialesporkstore7889 hi there! Thanks for the questions. For this game, Ravensburger reached out to a few designers to get game ideas for a game with the Disney license. So Ravensburger has an agreement with Disney to make games using the Disney IP and pay Disney royalties for them. So I came up with my idea knowing the license and project was secured with Disney. After my design was selected as the one they wanted to move forward on, Ravensburger would meet with Disney regularly to show them the progress of the game and gather their feedback. I would then make any necessary changes to the use of the IP based on that feedback. I have also created a game with a specific IP in mind and then pitched the concept to publishers, who then pitched it to the IP holder, but then the IP holder ultimately denied the use of their IP in that way. So it is a risk to make a game for a certain IP if you’re not already working with a publisher who has already gotten approval from the IP holder to do the project. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
@@PamWallsGameDesign Very useful information, as always, thank you! Shooting for an unlicensed IP and beating out the designing competitions are both challenging in their own ways!
@@roggie1 it’s just me. I have had a lawyer review contracts before, and I will ask other designers for advice, but the pitching and contract negotiation is all on me.
