Scott Johnson always had great lines. My only issue is they always seem to play warm ups a little too fast. Take "Ditty" for example. If they slowed that down a few clicks it would sound so much better. Again, it's great, but there are parts where it gets crammed and messy. Watch his 90-93 SCV years, which are some of my favorite of his. If you watch the warm ups there are many parts where it gets gobbled up.
"Scott Johnson always had great lines." - ohellyah... "too fast" - respect but I disagree... for me, the faster those 16th note single-stroke triplets go at the end, the better... diggadiggadiggadum... shot... ka DUM! & this betta be on top of some F-Tunes!!!

I was actually there and, I've never forgotten how dirty that drumline was that night in the lot. Also, I remember them playing in the near-blackness of "dark." There was an orange-ish light behind them that sort of gave a hellfire atmosphere to the whole thing. I still wonder if that wasn't an real-life glimpse of said, hell- dirty flying everywhere, devils, firelight. Powerful line that year. You can observe in this video that when they nailed something, it was awesome.
Notice the date. Drum corp seasons are getting shorter and shorter a d this year 2021 is a joke. If your going to be on tour for a few weeks what is the difference of having a full season. I applaud the corps not wasting the time this year with coming out
High schools and colleges are starting their fall semesters earlier now than they were 27 years ago. If finals was still this late corps would be losing a lot of the members who are in high school and can’t get waivers to start later, and college students who would get dropped from their classes for not showing up during the first week.
"more school" - who was the muthaf##ing a%^Hole that came up with that? I used to do 1 & 1/12 inch taps on a real feel with a wool hat on it under my desk. I learned better that way anyway. How to drum that is.
They are tuned high because these guys are gooood 😎 total exposure. No muffled softies here. Here’s a finals link. Doesn’t get much cleaner than this. m.ruclips.net/video/ITjeEGWtW5E/видео.html
I wouldn’t blame it all on tuning, remember this is 1994, they didn’t exactly have an iPhone they could whip out and record 4K quality video with, I’m sure the cameras and mics of the time has something to do with it, but hey I could be wrong.
god bless you for the 60fps upscaling
I love this vintage style intro! 💚🥁💚🥁
when instructors were vocal vs. now where they whisper everything

I gotta agree with this. I think it gives the notes some space to breath
@@coreygeiger81 Cheers! 🍻

don't need 4K audio to tell that ish's clean
Much prefer this style of drumming to the modern "dance" factory of parradiddle- diddles.

"Izzzzz this thing onnnn??!?!?!!!" - Sco Jorrrrrrific! Want the same night facing the snares? ruclips.net/video/ITjeEGWtW5E/видео.html
If you thought that was cool watch it at 2X speed 😎
6:52… I really hope it was just because of the place it was recorded… cause it does not sound good…

Snares sound like poo. Tuning.
It should have heard it live. It sounded a lot better !

IMVERYHO: Their tuning is also unique, turnt up & exposed.
