    I’ve had some success by using break tackle skill on the rat ogres as cage breakers. Take out a corner with a block and charge him into the ball carrier. Make sure to mark the opposite corner as he frenzies into it. Have a gutter waiting impatiently for the ball. It is a bit risky as anything is with big guys…

    Some people think its best not to have a Rat Ogre at all. Which I find ridiculous for the following reasons:
    Sure, Rat Ogres are not "reliable" in the traditional sense. However having one and not having one is the difference between how much your team will get their teeth kicked in against teams like Chaos or Dwarves (or teams with star players.) and how many of your rats will get a favorable chance to strike at the enemy team to get some XP. Sure the Rat Ogre might also attack your own players first but by comparison to do nothing as it used to do and let elves and other Skaven teams just move past him, or in comparison to the scenario of you having replaced the Rat Ogre with a clanrat and a giant minotaur is front of it then injuries on said game are almost guaranteed. Rat Ogres give you at least a CHANCE to avoid them.
    To rely entirely on Gutter Runners and smaller Rats means high mobility but in most cases if you face anything other than elves even if you win the game it hardly matters if you are left with a pile of a extra smelly corpses for the next game. (Sure Skaven are cheap, but that dose not mean you can afford to risk their tails every match before they even get a Skill.)

    The starting roster I found worked the best for me to get a skaven team off the ground is a slight variation of your last one : I ditched the thrower and the fans in favor of a 12th linerat. That way I have a bit of a buffer against the damage I will inevitably sustain, and I also have the option of fouling much more serenely.
    Edit : I also get a 3rd gutter runner right after the apo and sit at 13 players for a while. It does mean that I will relatively often encounter a dwarf team or whatever with stuff like mighty blow/guard, but if I can foul that player with a 50k linerat and they lose a 80k+ player in exchange, *and* I might end up having a number's advantage, I'm absolutely taking that trade.

  • @someoneelse7695
    @someoneelse7695 Год назад +2

    While I like the reverse pyramid offense as an alternative to a withdrawn offense that doesn't keep your players as safe as just actually withdrawing, I feel like it's missing a key aspect: always have a scoring threat. Because you're already putting yourself into easy blitzing range, it makes sense to have 2 gutter runners in the opponent's half just within scoring range. Obviously, you will not use them straight away, but it can trigger some mistakes. And of course, once you've backed up over a few turns, they can actually be given the ball to further stall outside their reach in their half.

    Thanks for this (and for the other excellent guides). I'm struggling to identify the skills on XB1 coz it seems you can't scroll over the player 'card' to identify what's what. • @someoneelse7695
      @someoneelse7695 Год назад +1

      It may also help to study them in the player skill access screens. I assume this is possible on the XB1.
      That said, it is a often expressed gripe with the game that the two-tone design of the skill icons makes them very difficult to identify at a glance.

    • @LonFranson
      @LonFranson Год назад +1

      You kinda can scroll over. First, select the player. Then hit the right bumper button. The curser will turn to a magnifying glass. Now you can hover over skills (and other stuff) to ID it. You do have to hit the right bumper button to get 'out' of the mode to take further actions. So it's not quite as easy or seamless as BB2.

I like the video games but I'm having trouble right now getting the trophy for 3 kills in one game. Redditors recommend playing the first tutorial game against Skaven over and over until you get it by luck. I'm doing this with my dwarves because they all have block and tackle and they'll get mighty blow with their first advance. I'd tried not scoring and playing 24 turns per game and only gotten 2 kills through random luck. I'd like to see your advice on how to increase kills in a future video? Whaddaya say?

    Great video! Could you elaborate why Break Tackle is bad on a Rat Ogre. A 2+ dodge in a pinch does not feel bad, just not optimal

  • @scottwallbank4794
    @scottwallbank4794 Год назад +2

    Big guys are always a risk with loner and no general access but the rat ogre is probably the best, alongside Kroxigor. Not sure I agree on it being a must pick early for skaven. It can help with some removals but a skaven team is always going to lose out attrition wise. Gutter runners are much more important to a starting roster. Block is hard to get on a big guy. 12 SPP to guarantee and 40k player cost is a big investment.
    Whilst not optimal, break tackle isn't as bad as you state on a rat ogre, as it gives a 2+ dodge if you need to reposition/blitz elsewhere.
    I actually randomised skills for my throwers in our physical league. There's nothing particularly bad in the passing skills for them to generate (fumblerooskie is probably the worst).

    • @edwardfontaine7108
      @edwardfontaine7108 Год назад +1

      Since your probably going to be blitzing and blocking with a rat ogre a lot more they might generate spp a bit faster. I personally prefer trolls and ogres because I prefer to use my big guys more passively.

    • @scottwallbank4794
      @scottwallbank4794 Год назад +1

      @@edwardfontaine7108 Might be a reflection of our physical league but the max I accumulated was three skills for a rat ogre after two seasons and redraft (picked skills). Big guys/blockers typically skill slower as 2spp cas is typically their only means of spp generation.

    Isn't big hand always better than extra arms for an agi 2+ player like GRs? 1 is always a fail, so extra arms doesn't help you there, and big hand lets you ignore weather and infinite tackle zones, where as extra arms only negates 1. Extra arms is great for agi 3+ like beastmen, but it's just straight up worse than big hand for gutter runners.
