First story reminds me of a particular cold response from a photographer. She was helping out a friend on their wedding day, free service, just pay for the physical photos, great deal! Problem was both bride and groom treated photographer friend like scum, denying her a plate for food, no restroom break, not even water.
In the end, photographer went up to both of them, demanding a glass of water and a chair to sit on for 15 minutes because she's been on her feet for hours. They tell her she is working, therefore no breaks. Photographer simply shows them her camera, then select the 'DELETE ALL' option. Every photo of the wedding gone for good. Groom's face went white, bride goes nuts, threatening to sue her. However, no payment, no contract, no basis to sue. Photographer went home, blocked both of them.

Re: last story. I have a neighbor who owns some acreage behind my and a couple other neighbors homes. Some years ago one particular neighbor who wasn't worth spit at taking care of his own property, started complaining about the brush and such behind his place on my neighbors land. Now, this bit of land behind his place is virtually worthless as it harbors sinkholes, so we neighbors get rid if our yard waste down there, with the owners blessing, of course. Well, Mr. complainer finally complains one time too many about it, so land owner told him not to worry about it, he'd havew some people down ther in a couple weeks putting up hog fence, and the hogs would clean the place up. That was the last time Mr. complainer said a damned word about it.

True retail story, I worked for a large security concern, that specialized in hospital, shopping mall, and residential security, one year at Christmas, we were having staffing issues, at one of our retail accounts, located in a mall, in a high crime area, located at the opposite end of the county, from where I lived, ( about a 1 1/2 hour drive) I didn't want to make the commute, as I was short on cash ( and gas) but the boss was insistent, so off I went, the client required me to take a post, at the entrance to the store, and not to move from it. ( in the managers words, " don't move from that spot, don't even move a muscle, not even to blink") so as I stood there, a woman walked up, and proceeded to remove my badge, from my shirt! I was startled by her boldness, and asked her , " excuse me, what do you think you're doing? " the woman acted startled, stammering " I thought you were a mannequin" and ran off, some people.

Story 1 - Having worked retail for more than seven years, I'm fairly certain that there are a disturbing number of customers who have this opinion (store employees are often treated like robots, complete with the shock that you might need such things as food and breaks or water on a hot day), but I've never seen/heard one of them actually *say it outright* like that...wow...

Great tactic w/ the hogs in the last story. That definitely would've drastically reduced the value of the home the evil family member was hoping to make off the sale. What a jerk move! It'd be like (using easy numbers) getting a $100,000 home for $50,000, then turning around in hopes of selling it for $110,000 (because, appreciation). The threat of hogs brought that back down to $50,000. Smart bro!!

I've had a variation of the first story. I work catering events. We had one big one. We show up to work, and we are informed by the lady running it that "you are hired by us. You are not allowed breaks, nor can you eat." Was an all-day event. The second she left, our boss in charge turned to us and said "sneak food any chance you can get, take restroom breaks whenever you want. If they complain, I'll file a counter complaint." And we did, all day long. The lady was fuming mad, and actually threw at least 3 people off the event. One was a pregnant woman who sat down for a minute.

There have been at least 2 others that I can recall.
One was someone who bought a strip of land next to a rancher to build a house on, found the ranchers fence was a few inches over their side and rather then talk to them, tried to do everything by suing them. The rancher set a hog farm right next to the property line and set up the manure pile right there until they left, then removed it for the much nicer new purchasers.
The other one, was someone who owned a piece of land he wanted to build a little Huntin' and Fishin' store on for his retirement. The land was next to a restaurant and the owner wanted to expand it onto the piece of land, but was rebuffed. When the owner of the land applied for a "change of use" permit, from farming to commercial, the restaurant owner got his family to block the application (his BiL, I think, worked in the planning dept) to make it impossible, to try and force the landownder to sell it to him cheap. He used the farming status of the land to open a hog farm on it, and basically closed the restaurant down by driving the customers away. He then bought the restaurant, opened his store and ended up owning both.

What is it with Karens? If they are in the grocery store, they think THEY are the only people in there or at least the only ones who are important and everyone else needs to step aside until they have done all their shopping and selected the choice items and left, and then us lesser mortals can sort through what is left. If they are in a restaurant, they can scream and curse at the wait staff because the wait staff is just there to fulfill their every need and they are somewhat less than human and don't have feelings anyway, so it is perfectly all right to scream at them. If they are driving, all the other cars need to head for the ditches and wait while Karen goes unimpeded through the traffic and gets where she is going because her time is the only time that is important. If their child wants something, every other child needs to hand over what the Entitled Child wants because Karen's kids are more deserving than the children of anyone else. If they see that you have something and they want it, they think you should just give it to them, or they are quite willing to just take it from you. If they catch you breaking some rule (maybe a rule only THEY know about) it is up to Karen to let you know that what you are doing is not acceptable. In short, Karen is the only person in the universe who is important, and she has the leading role and all the rest of us are just bit players who provide her with whatever it is she needs to live her charmed life. I repeat. What is it with Karens?
BTW, I LOVE the story about the hogs. The guy not only didn't have to deploy the hogs, he didn't even break a sweat. WELL DONE!

There is a very bizarre and archaic business idea that when an employee is working they are part of the business or "part of the whole" and not an individual or person when on the clock. This ended in something like the 50's or 60's when Unions started to become commonplace in all businesses and not just industrial settings. So all workers have legal rights not to be abused by employers. I guess there are still a-holes that think this is the case. 🤦‍♂😲

I find it a bit confusing when an obviously masculine voice recounts a story in the first person ("I", "me", etc) but it turns out towards the end to be about a female.

    "Not a person"?
    Phone routing voice:
    I think you said
    "You are a pleasant person"
    "Is that right?
[No! I said you shouldn't take bathroom breaks when you're supposed to be working!]
    "I heard you say
"You need to have bathroom breaks when you are working"
    Is that right?
Or just Purposely mishear or misunderstand every bitchy thing said.
    "You should be fired!"
"No, I'm not tired at all, thanks for asking"
"I want you to get the manager!"
"Yeah. He really is the best manager"

We had a temp worker except her name was Jennifer. Our hospital was had installed a new electronic patient record computer system and Jennifer was very skilled in it. Our CIO was very cheap and underpaid all staff and received bonuses for keeping staff salary down. Jennifer was extremely skilled and was very friendly to the programmers she worked with. She takes to the Director and CIO about a raise. The yelled at Jennifer that she needed to be here for two years before a raise.
Well the other bigger hospital system in the same city was installing the same electronic patient computer system and happened to locate the new data center about five miles away. A week later Jennifer found one of the best programmers crying in the women restroom. She was also turned down a promotion and salary increase after be promised it would happen. Answer was no money in the budget. The CIO’s answer to all promises.
Jennifer waited about a week and went out for drinks after work. Well the other hospital IT executives were at the same bar. They knew Jennifer and sat down. They told the unhappy programmer they wanted to hire her triple the salary and same vacation time and a bonus after six months. That hospital IT knew how cheap that CIO was and how Hospital senior executives thought IT was just a big accounting machine.
Jennifer real profession was as a finding the best IT talent for a company by being hired in. Within five months almost 50% of the best IT programmers quit because they found out how underpaid they were. Since the State is right to work a employer or employee can be fired or quit at any time.
