Hi Sebastian! Masque Milano is a wonderful house! The perfumer for White Whale worked on the ambergris accord for 5 years. I love the story behind this scent (big literature nerd here). I can see a slight fruity note, like a melony-peach. My favorite part of the scent is how the pepper, salt, orris and wood are used to make a kind of sweaty boat feel. If you’ve been sailing on a longer haul, it does get close & sweaty working as a crew over the weeks. Sleight of Fern has a gorgeous dry down and I really enjoy this fragrance; the first 30 minutes is hard for me bc the mastic gives me a toothpaste vibe. Thank you for your excellent review!!!! ❤️❤️❤️🙌🙌🙌🙌
♡Russian Tea, from Masque Milano, is a beautiful one! Very powerful silage and projection, when worn you'll find it catches your nose throughout the time worn.. Very minty, rose-like tea, leathery too, right up your alley Sebastian. Really appreciate your channel.
Russian Tea is one of my favorite tea/winter fragrances, I wear it when I'm trying to come off a little more sophisticated. Unwearable for half the year in Australian summer unfortunately lol
I love Petra, L'Attesa, Lost Alice, Tango and Russian Tea, still have to buy a bottle of Montecristo and Mandala. I will try these, I'm more interested in Sleight of Fern even more if you get that za'atar scent from it, yummy! Thank you Sebastian!!!
I spent a lot of time on ocean fishing boats so I love the smell of real ambergris. Will have to try White Whale for sure. Also interested in Hemmingway and Russian tea from the same brand, but haven’t gotten to them yet.
(Homage to) Hemingway is a very unique vetiver fragrance. I really didn't even know that a unique vetiver dominant fragrance could even be achieved but Fanny Bal pulled it off.
Hemingway it’s an amazing vetiver scent. Classic dark strong…. But my favorite is Russian Tea. OMG you must try it. Mint black tea leather and woods in a delicious and addictive composition IMHO
I have only just become aware of the house, and got Lost Alice, Russian Tea is on the way, and I think I like Petra as well! Seems like a pretty great house, with a lot of variety in it. Think I'm gonna be wearing Russian Tea a lot for autumn! I cannot wait.
Have you tried Eris Mxxx? Huge ambergris but so soft and addictive. I sprayed it on my hand as I left Fumerie Parfumerie in Portland. I sat in the car and couldn’t stop sniffing my hand. I went back in and bought it!
My favorite from the house, by far, is Terralba. Can't believe nobody has mentioned this one yet. Beautiful Mediterranean coastal forest smell with a hint of sweat and saltiness.
I don't know Sleight of fern, but White whale I've sampled at Esxence and felt in love with it instantly. I don't know every fragrance from this brand, but from the ones I've tested White whale and Kintsugi were my favorite. Pardon me if I correct you, but the bottles have 35ml if I remember well. Thank you for the video!
A great house but I wish they had 50ml bottles to start. Hemingway is definitely my favorite, but I'll try the new fern fragrance soon. Russian Tea is awesome and so is Montecristo for us tobacco lovers. I think Kintsugi is one of the best feminine fragrances I've ever smelled. My girlfriend loves it.
@@sarahglen1140 When I ordered directly from their website, they sent me a card detailing their entire house and the fragrances they offer in 100ml bottles; it wasn't many.
Hi Sebastian. Which fragrance from Alessandro Brun's companies smell more like za'atar: Milano Fragranze's "Basilica" or Masque Milano's "Sleight of Fern"? Also, are you going to make a top ten video for the first ten fragrance releases from Milano Fragranze? I know that "Basilica" is definitely one of my favorite fragrances of all time. I hope to sample all of Masque Milano's fragrance releases.
I think I've had Hummus with zataar spices...it makes me think that Slight of Fern must be sooo herbal! Yeah, You will probably hear about my favorite from this house - Lost Alice! It is sooo cool and PERFECT for the upcoming Fall/Winter months...even though you could totally wear it into the spring because it smells like - Carrot Cake! (Easter Time) You will love it! Yes, please get your hands on more Masque Milano and review them for us! Thank You. xoxo
With all of the high quality ingredients they use (and use in high quantity) I was really let down by reading "Ambergris Accord". Man I am a fool for a deep true Ambergris.
Sebastian are referring to the wonderful spice blend Zaatar? I haven't heard you mention So Avant Garde for months. 10 Masque Milano fragrances were added to their website in August. I'm interested there are no samples. I saw a review with complaint about the caps, but I admire them, reminiscent of The Guggenheim Museum of Manhattan's Upper East Side.
I own Tango,Mandala and MonteCristo. Those are my favorite ones from this brand. I tried almost every single fragrance from their catalogue but Russian tea. I had to have these 3,the only ones I got excited about. Sleigh of fern and your translation, depiction of it in this perfumery art form does sounds appealing, intriguing and interesting enough for me to firstly purchase the 10mls of this particular one. That sounds quite unique and cannot wait too watch in the future your's,Sebastian's top 10 on this brand, perfume house. I want to know where these 3 fragrances I own end up on your list.
I'm a big fan of Masque Milano. My favorite perfumes from them are Lattesa, Russian Tea and Times Square. For some reason and to my surprise Times Square is not very popular even tho it has the most unique smell among the rest of the perfumes from this house. Please do the top 10 from Masque Milano🤘🏻
Is Milano Fragranze's "Basilica" similar to Masque Milano's "Sleight of Fern"? It seems like they both have a lot of thyme to the extent that both fragrances are said to have a za'atar scent to them.
Actually not really. More like Basilico and Fellini by Vilhelm but I'll have to double check before I say for sure. But definitely not like Sleight Of Fern! I haven't smell any fragrances with an overdose of thyme before. :)
The idea and notes for White Whale were ingenious but execution lacked something for me. I’d like to smell something similar using a mix of real ambergris and orris root. I still liked it a lot but the oomph and longevity were missing.
I'm based in Dubai, so I'm very familiar with Za'atar. But I can't imagine a fragrance that would smell like it. I guess one would have to try the fragrance to make a call to buy or give it a miss.
It's the thyme in this. For me the thyme is overdosed so...And Za'Atar is all thyme so it's what it reminds me of. I would love to know your thoughts and see if you get that as well. I would love to hear back from Middle Easterners who know Za'Atar and have smelled Sleight Of Fern! :)
I've never understood the association of the amber accord with that of ambergris. An amber accord is formed by resins, vanilla, etc. and is typically characterized as a warm, dense, semi-sweet vanillic accord. Ambergris, on the other hand, is whale poop (according to the book "Floating Gold") that has long marinated in sea water, and has a range of facets ranging from smelling like a beach at low tide, fecal, or a beautiful maritime accord.
@@ThePerfumeGuy Not according to a book I have called "Floating Gold" about the history and value of ambergris. They go into some detail on the physiology that produces ambergris. It said there wasn't much doubt that it had to be poop, not vomit.

I love Lost Alice by Masquen Milano and am considering purchasing a full bottle! Very cozy scent.
Great review, I am very curious about Sleight of Fern. The thyme sounds very interesting.

Finally added Sleight of Fern to my collection.
OMG what an amazing fragrance and right up my alley. Please do more of Masque Milano!

Zaatar-smelling fragrance, oh dear ! I will hunt this one down 😍

Tango, Mandala, Kintsugi, and Luci ed ombre are my favorites but I havent smelled these two. Both sound worth getting.

Yes. Please do dig in more into this house.
Just got l’attesa recently. Would love to hear more about this brand!
Been waiting on this vdi Sebastian. I am really curious for the fougere one. I'm not sure about the thyme though?

I have seen 100 ml bottles! At least, a few.

I cant find any masque milano "ranked" in your feeds.....whats your favorite, sir?
Maxaroma tossed an (official) 2ml sample of the Sleight of Fern into my order. Wore it yesterday... intriguing fragrance.
Very intriguing for sure.

the ambergris in white whale sounds amazing. I am a bit scared about the fruitiness though.

I haven't worn Russian Tea sadly! :(
