Yes. Dot preserved her choices in life..fought for them and won. Will was the price to be paid for the evil of Roy's world. There are sacrifices in anything worth saving.

Despite all the awful things Gator did throughout the season, it broke my heart when he asked Dot if she really saw his mom. That really got me. And Dots response saying she came to her as an angel in a dream was perfection.

    • @FilthyMudblood
      @FilthyMudblood 9 месяцев назад

Agreed. I really appreciated that Dot saw Gator as a victim of Roy’s abuse as well. Of course it doesn’t excuse his terrible choices but it does give reason for Dot to forgive him.

Happy to see the replay of Gator leaning on Dot for comfort from the puppet episode. Full circle moment that felt earned.
Dot shows her true character. She is a forgiving person. All it took from Gator AND much was a simple apology, and she throws baked goods made with love at them.

I agree with y'all - the beginning "battle" seemed anticlimactic. But - I think that was part of the point. These crazy anti-Gov't folks think they can raise their own army - THIS is what happens!😂

I’ve been predicting that Dot was training Scotty to be a Tiger like herself all season. That she’d step in and save the day. In the end I was kind of right. She trained her to Love. That helped save the day. Go Dot!

  • @Delmarva_Heritage_Recipes

I thought the scene with the biscuit was like Dot giving Ole Munch Holy Communion made with love and joy to overcome sin. She said that he also needed to be forgiven. Dot was forgiving Munch. It was the conquest of the New Testament over the Old Testament "eye for an eye" morals of Munch and Sheriff Roy throughout season 5. It was interesting that Dot's addition to the biscuit recipe was the use of "milk and honey."

    • @FilthyMudblood
      @FilthyMudblood 9 месяцев назад

Yes. I read in a comment from a different recap video, someone said the orange soda was the wine and him washing his hands was symbolic of washing away his sins and then of course the biscuit being the body. I like your addition with the milk and honey.

Okay I loved this finale and Dot and her family and the power of love over evil All wrapped up in biscuits. We break bread together to resolve conflict, to bring families and friends together. I loved Gator's selling out Roy and Roy getting his punishment, comeuppance from Lorraine for life as long as it lasts and those prisoners are gonna make sure they continue getting their commiserary. I was sad about Dot's Trooper. That final scene with Munch was outstandingly weird, sweet and indicates you can be centuries old and still able to change. I'd love to have a meal with Dot and her family 😊 The writing was outstanding! I love the Fargo series so much and can't wait for the next one. Thank you Matt and Jess for your excellent and fun analysis 👏. See you soon. One last thing, even if you're not recapping Power series for now, when I watch certain scenes I find myself saying Omg I hope Matt and Jess are watching this. Matt I agree, Witt's death was upsetting. Witt new the total evil of Roy with his dealings with him and in reality would of dealt with the threat of him approaching with a knife. Great review, guys! A few of my observations:
I think Roy received an ending worse than death, i.e., Lorraine sentenced him, "To the pain."
It seems Munch(sp) is a contrast to the " I can help" robot in season 3. A robot is unaffected by the horrors and sins experienced through the ages. He kept his code to the end. Munch shows the effect those same experiences would have on a human. However, "a man" can change his code. Munch's constant referencing himself as "a man" was the writer's way of telling us to draw this comparison.
While everybody else is carrying guns, I think I'll just carry a few pancakes, oatmeal cookies, and biscuits!

    So much to love.
FARGO is AMERICAN HORROR STORY for readers with discriminating taste.
PERFECT resolution for Roy Tillman. When Lorraine dies the Pantheon should make her an official vengeance goddess.
I love Dot's perfectly Dot-like response to Ole, which is basically (my words, not her's) "If your code's the problem then change your durn code!"
I love that Lorraine hugged Dot but does not have an Ebeneezer Scrooge transformation- she's still as cuddly as a cactus.
I love the recipe and want to try it.
I love the A MAN CALLED OLE ray of hope at the end.
I hate that Witt died, but, I understand it dramatically.
I'd rather Gator died instead, but, between blinding and consideration of his childhood, I think most of his debts are cancelled and for those that aren't they can set a repayment scheduled. He's more sinned against than sinning at this point.
Would love to know what became of Karen and the girls.
No clear connection points to other seasons, though my fanboy retcon is that Lorraine's maiden name is Gerhardt and she's the oldest of Dodd's surviving daughters.

Roy hired Moonk to kidnap Dot. Roy is now in jail. So, why was Moonk at Dot's? To kidnap her and take her where? To kill her? Why would he do that? I guess I just don't get it. Help!!!

Themes of forgiveness in modern storytelling are so refreshing. This episode turned a season i was a little unsure about for 9 episodes into my favorite season of Fargo hands-down.

Agree with the commentary. Have to say I enjoyed the experience of Fargo with you both! It is unfortunate that I won't be tuning in too much in the near future. I hear yall talking about the upcoming shows that will be discussed. My husband and I only have SuperBasic Cable here at home, and have been fortunate to watch Fargo. There are not too many good or interesting shows that we can pick up. But, I will check in periodically just in case there is something I can watch that yall might be reviewing. Thanks so much, and good luck with the channel. Oh, and Roy's piercings - I am thinking the writers put that in to emphasize that Roy is a sadist, and a brute. There was the box of "toys" in the bedroom scene with Karen.

I feel like there was more footage of the battle that just didn’t make the Final Cut. I mean did we ever see the tank scene that was in the ep 9 preview? I think the way it went was satisfying and cutting the amount of battle shown was a good call, as much as I would’ve loved to see it.

We need one more episode on this. Wink has been dead about 4 months, ostensibly from alcoholism. Lorraine goes to Wayne and Dot's for Sunday lunch. She meets Ole Munch. She wants to be repulsed by his haircut, his manner of dress, his speech habits... Lorraine wants to slash Ole with her venomous tongue, but instead, she offers him a job as the new chief of collections.
That evening, Lorraine asked Munch to see her to the car because she heard there was once a kidnapping in this neighborhood.
Inside, Dot and Wayne are snickering with each other because they recognize Lorraine's sexual tension.
Lorraine has coaxed Ole Munch into the backseat, and they're making out like freshmen...
Not unlike Madeline Kahn in Young Frankenstein.

I didn't enjoy Witt's death just as much as everyone but it's not like there was any choice in the matter to my understanding. The show starts with the quote; in respect for the dead everything else is told exactly how it happened. Witt is another casualty of all the crazy events that took place in 2019 and it would be disrespectful to the true Witt if the writers had changed his fate so everyone could be happy he survived. Amazing season and my first, having only seen and enjoyed the movie. The ending was so great and unexpected, good weird. Seeing the emotion Mook feels when eating the love cookie and being forgiven is so powerful. The actor hit it out park, you could physically see it happen (well at least I felt like I could). It could very well be the best show ending ever, like seriously.

The ONLY thing that I'm disappointed about is the fact that it's come to an end. This season was absolutely BRILLIANT! I convinced 24 people to watch this, and believe you ME, we were messaging like crazy before, during and after. We were throwing around potential plot twists for the finale, and the craziest one someone presented was that Dot's daughter, Scotty was going to be revealed as Roy's daughter, as well. I don’t know there were things missing for me, even though I loved the season and I even came to admire and appreciate Moonk, but I wanted to see Indira’s ex-has been a year later without her support, I wanted to see a woman or a person of color become sheriff in Tillman‘s district. And I want to see it driven home just a little bit more how it was women who crushed Roy, and not with firearms, but with cunning. I mean all that happened right but I wanted to see it driven home a little bit more than the narrative. I did love that final scene and it’s unexpected though.

In ancient biblical culture if you eat a meal with someone, eat someone's salt (a symbol of grace), it's like a covenant. It means that you are at peace with them, and you are not allowed to hurt them. It is kind of like the last supper with Jesus. If you share a meal, it means that you are now family. This is why grace is given to the disciples and why Judas' betrayal is so wrong.

A "rot" in prison is a fitting END to Roy. I wish they dealt a bit deeper into Roy's and Lorraine's character. Some elements felt a bit farfetched (like Roy's demeanor, the timings, etc), and some were so short that they did not leave any meaningful impact (Linda, third wife). Overall, nice season, praiseworthy worthy, and excellent casting.

I didn't mind the minimization of the "battle." The point was that Roy's plan was to let his idiot militia followers fight & die for him while he ran off to escape like the coward he was. Consequences of his own actions was a foreign concept to him.
