    I get what you are saying. We installed the argus 3 (not pro) there are wifi intermittent issues but like you said it is the wifi not the cam. We use at the front door. We are learning as we go. We use it as a security cam like some would use a video door bell. More coverage than a door bell cam With half the cost and battery is great and lasts while hooked up to the solar plate is good 👍🏼
    Thanks for your review, I got one of these.

    I agree so much!! When it's plugged into power, it should run differently then under battery

    How does this compare to the Eufy S40 and the new Reolink Duo coming out? Great review, interesting on the battery running outside of scheduled time. Did they fix this?

    The thing that I do not get is that uploading to a local FTP service would most likely require less power to interact with. I really wish FTP was implemented by now.

    Hi can you set a timer to alarm up this device, such as from 7pm-7am? And also will it still record any activities in its card even there's no wifi connection? Thank you very much!

    hi, i have this camera ,now is winter (rain) my question is , i need to cover the speaker?, the camera is watching in angle 90 degrees down outside, maybe the water goes inside?

    • @tdcattech
      @tdcattech  2 года назад +1

      I’ve had mine out in torrential rain. No problems so far. The speaker certainly shouldn’t be a point of ingress. 🌧

    Thanks for the review. Does the Argus 3 Pro buffer/record save several seconds of video before it detects motion like Reolink ethernet wired cams with person vehicle detection and some Ring cams?

    • @tdcattech
      @tdcattech  3 года назад +2

      No. Power saving doesn't allow this. It's quick to start recording but you don't get that reassuring buffer at the start of your clip.

    Complain to Reolink and tell them if they don't address your concerns properly and quickly you will make sure everyone in this whole world will know it

    I am interested in buying this I have some not very pleasant neighbours! I need one for the garden and one for the front of house . Can anyone please tell me do I have to buy them separately and if so can I link them up on one app ? Also is there any subscription charges ? I’m in the uk…. Thank you .

    • @tdcattech
      @tdcattech  3 года назад +1

      Reolink often do offers when you buy two. At time of writing, the Argus 3 Pro cameras are 20% off. You can buy them in pairs on the Reolink site but you could just order two. There's no benefit to them coming together. They both link to one app. There's more information on that here - ruclips.net/video/xMimMRitEcU/видео.html - As you're in the UK, you can't use the Reolink cloud storage so you'll need to keep data on a MicroSD card in the camera (you can also save to your phone when required). As a result, no subscription charges!

    Your great review must have helped Amazon UK sales because it's now sold out unfortunately, on day one of Amazon Prime Deal Days. 😭

      😂 If only that were true (the impact of my review, not the sold out status). Yes, I've just checked this and it does show out of stock! No idea what's going on here. Looks like Reolink have messed up.

      Black rectangles or squares you can add to the image to, e.g. cover over the windows of, say a neighbours property.

    So disappointed. Only after receiving the product and trying to link it to my router did I discover that this product is only compatible with wifi protocols one through four which dates to 2013. New routers are on wifi protocol six. Still waiting to hear back from Reolink. Reviewer should modify review to reflect this obsolete firmware.

    • @tdcattech
      @tdcattech  2 года назад

      Wi-Fi 4 is not obsolete. It's just an older standard. I agree that Wi-Fi 5 and upwards would be better but a router will have support for 2.4GHz. Some devices (heating, alarms etc.) use this because they just don't need anything better. It's like 100mbps ethernet. It's old but it's absolutely fine when that's all a device needs.

    • @WS0TA
      @WS0TA 2 года назад

      @@tdcattech I stand corrected: the cameras ARE connecting to the "hotspot" on my phone which is also protocol six, but still not connecting to the T-Mobile Gateway for reasons unknown. There troubleshooting page says their cameras are protocol four, and if problems connecting to protocol six they will send a firmware upgrade. Support is clearly on the other side of the globe as one sentence responses which have not yet resolved anything come in at midnight so the interaction is very slow. Camera does work as advertised on the phone's hotspot, but that doesn't do me any good, ha-hah.

    • @WS0TA
      @WS0TA 2 года назад

      @@tdcattech So here are the complete facts: You were apparently supplied camera(s) with up-to-date firmware. I was not. My camera(s) would ONLY connect to the hotspot on the phone (which I don't think all phones have enabled). Once connected to that hotspot, one would need to know and find, "update firmware." I did as a matter of course, and it says, firmware up-to-date, ... BUT IT ISN'T. At that point, there is NO OTHER WAY but to contact Reolink Support. You have to give them the UID of the camera, hardware number, and the firmware number of your camera. THEN, you have to wait several days for what Reolink Support refers to as "their engineers" to "push" updated firmware to your specific camera(s). Only then would the camera(s) connect to the new WiFi with protocol six. RIDICULOUS!
