Big Flipper taking out the (HEAVY) trash

- Round 2 of some heavy lifting with our 75ton rotator, Big Flipper. This time, we aren't in an empty controlled environment and have to work a lot smarter to meet the customer's needs. The scrap machines needed to be offloaded from the trailers, then swung around and placed in specific spots.
I assisted Dave in the rigging, but for the most part just let him do his thing while I record. Again, jobs like this are pretty common for us, more so than a rollover. When lifting heavy machinery, lots of factors need to be calculated when you have to swing and set them elsewhere. Boom height, foundation, rigging, etc. As you see from the load cell, you can put quite a tremendous amount of force on your equipment which is why we always over rig.
I personally feel it's safer and stronger to use my synthetic rigging as opposed to chain for a few reasons. Straps/slings retain their working load limit better than chain, can be used in a basket to double the working load limit and can be handled much easier than a long heavy chain. Awesome video Josh !!!
Big Flipper making it look easy !!
, you need to do another rigging / lift video of Big Flipper lifting your other Rotators
It only rains in LA when Josh is outside LOL
Ooooo I see u have a different pair of gloves in this video 😊
That equipment was heavy like stuff I worked with in a factory. Giid job setting it where they wanted it!
Thats some nice tight awkward lifting conditions there in a working yard! Certainly earned your pay with that one! Can't believe they kept the yard open and running though with that size load being done that close to the entrance. they would have shut gates here in the uk for that! Best luck and speedy recovery to Dave for that boo boo!
Happy Easter to You and Your Family Josh...!
I bet the eaten is fantastic from the Food Truck!
Dave sez, "Rerigg?? I have Big Flipper!! I don't need no stinking rerigg!!". Dave also sez, "Check it out! My boo-boo is getting better!!".
Yay fresh cable battle scars thanks for lifting up the world
Gotta love injection mold machines. Hauled bare clamp section year or so go. Came in at whopping 118,000lbs. Good work.
Good catch. After being told by the Driver side piece is 'attached', he swears. That loose piece you discovered could have easily fallen off in transit. Lucky
New subscriber been watching for 2 weeks already and so far I watch over 20videos Dope content keep it up
So cool 😊
Don't ya just love working the rain Josh ! Lol , but great job guys !
@28:36 Look at you Ese!, with gold chains and everything!!!!! 😎 😎
That’s a small Husky injection mold press , maybe a 250 or 300 ton , I’ve worked on 1000 to 2200 ton presses , whoever got that ready for transport didn’t do a good job, they should of used a bolt on bar to secure the platins together and had all of them wires cut and tied up to the electrical box
I’m living vicariously through you, Josh; wishing I could be there working with you. We all have our vocations. I know I’m doing what I should, but I do envy your station in this world. God bless.
#1. Good job guys
Thanks for another great video. I look forward to your posts- your enthusiasm for your job makes it awesome. Tell Dave he should try “‘moist burn pads” you can get them at any drugstore. They are like a weird gel pad that keeps the area from getting dry and tight; and are good for tattoos. I gave myself a second degree burn a couple months back and they really speed up the healing process. ✌️
That is a injection mold machine first piece was the injection end and the second piece was the clamp end which you know is a lot heavier I move those all the time
That one looks like a husky model
Good job 👍🏽
Ok danke, habe verstanden um welches Gerät es da geht,....
Josh, you're getting to be a good, safe rigger.
That's a big Plastic Injection Molding Machine, that's at least 500 tins of clamping pressure, I used to work on machines like that.
When you put a chakle on turn the screw up till it stops then turn it off a quarter turn.
Good afternoon ! 🙋 Thank you for the video. As always great job. Love 💖watching 👁️👁️ you guys do your thing. 🔥🔥 Great shots. Be safe love 💟 from Wilmington 💯% - Debra

What the i was in the middle of watching that container disaster video that was put up today and it glitched and now its gone. WHAT THE HECK GUYS?????
What happened to the other video of those containers? I was watching it then it was gone?
Good afternoon from Southeast South Dakota
Good afternoon!
Awsome video. Thanks for showing more of the rigging part...
Am I mistaken that that machine came from Mexico to be scrapped in Los Angeles? It's not like Mexico doesn't have scrap metal companies that would rip that thing apart too.
Great job dave flipper and you. How was the food?
Which truck is stronger, hulk or flipper?
How about a roster video sometime?
I know on older GoPros they say in the instructions that you can treat the lenses with Rain-X. Not sure about the newer ones, I personally have a HERO2 and a HERO6 but I bought the HERO6 as a refurb with no manual. Might be something to look into :)
why did you take down you video on April 5th 2021
Josh another great job. Weren't you on the same street about a month or so ago for a trailer when the container trailer's legs went out? @ pieces brought up from Mexico for what, I see it's a scape yard but don't they have scape yards south of the border>
What happened to the container video? Hope everyone is OK.
Coffee cream & sugar please good job men 👍
It’s raining it’s pouring, the old man is snoring......like I was watching this. LOL. Jk. Impressive!!! 👍🏼
What about that electrical/control box on the first lift? Was it broken off the main body of the machine?bbIt surely doesn't look good sitting at that crazy angle.
Just curious if you run into wrist problems lifting those heavy fasteners?
I think the truck still says, PEPE’S on it. It’s all his dad’s stuff, right?
An excellent heavy lift, but what is this machine and it's use if you know ?
I don't understand why someone would bring that injection mold all the way from Mexico to California just to scrap it.
Hey Josh did you adjust the angle of the outriggers or something?
The people at the scrap yard should have just put two really long ratchet straps around the outer box while it was still on the trailer before lifting it and snug it up against the side of the machine itself and then lift it because that would have insured the Box not falling off and hitting your rotator truck and I wasn't short first if this was scrap metal, a company had sold to that scrap yard or if it was a machine possibly that maybe would be for sale and not being scrapped but either way, they should have wrapped one or two ratchet straps around that box to protect your rotator in case it were to fall off during the lift
As you can see in the discussion at 11:35min the driver of the trailer was sure that the outer box was attached to the rest of the machine. (just by chance it didn't fall off during transport)
@@BarryBarrington_ they should have Still put a couple of long ratchet straps around the outside of the box and entire machine before unloading it after seeing that it wasn't attached Properly, because of a risk of it falling off and either hitting someone or the side of big flipper when unloading it... I was taking it, that both of those machines were scrap or possibly being used again for whatever purpose but I will say that Josh and his crew of guys operate rotators as smooth as the best operators out there in the business today
@@goldhunter9641 .. AAAAAAAND, as you can see at 19:08 min. JOSH & DAVE did put a couple of long chains around the outside of the box .... ...... before unloading it after seeing that it wasn't attached Properly, because of the risk of it falling off and either hitting someone or the side of big flipper when unloading it... because Josh and his crew of guys operate rotators as smooth as the best operators out there
28,000 is a lot less than 40,000 ! Better to be under on weight then over!
how much is the bolt lbs
Boo-Boo! Love it :-)
Hallo ,
Bitte sage mir wozu brauchst du so einen schweren maschinenteil und wozu dient er dieser Flipper
LG.Herbst Johann aus Österreich Linzer Straße
Did the driver never secure the load and drove the distances?
The load was secured with straps
thats a big line boring machine I wonder what they did to it to make it scrap metal
josh...Test question.so,what safety thing did you forget to do in this video?..hint: you forgot the second lock pin lol
Haha at what part of the video?
@@PepesTowingService The 30 second re-rig at 9:35

@Pepe's Towing Service thank you 👍
Why the fuck am I watching this? I watched the whole friggin thing. Taking junk off a truck. Now I'm thinking of subscribing. Also watched the one with the container flipped over into a traffic light pole. Again, didn't ff even once. Am I really that bored?
Stupid question how come this truck has no under reach on it
It doesn't do tows.
Wouldn't be legal in California weight wise. Literally a Honda civic on the underlift would legally make it illegal. We have tons of tow trucks, big flipper is an exclusive recovery unit. Besides, who the hell would buy a 75ton monster rotator just to tow box trucks and tractors lol
Two chefs, one kitchen! Would not hire these cats.
Oh no, how will I ever survive now
Really picky setting for a scrap yard and they'll put where they want when you leave with their crane
Thanks, I didn't know you work here to know this information
I'm rather surprised that the customer would hire a towing company rather than an industrial rigging company.
Rotators are versatile. Big flipper doesn't even have an underlift, it doesn't tow. All it does is recoveries and lifts. Not sure what the issue with using a Rotator to lift and swing stuff for is?
@@PepesTowingService I didn't know that a tow company's license would allow it to do work not related to vehicle recoveries. I'm pretty sure that's the case in some states.
@@R32R38 what are you talking about? Rotators and heavy wreckers are commonly used for undeckings and off loading. Link me to one law, ordinance or some kind of legislation from a state that you're "pretty sure" bans it. No offense, but I find it incredibly dumb when people speak factually about something they don't have facts to or something they just assume.
@@R32R38 have you never seen a tow companies social media page, RUclips channel, the tow truck TV shows or anything else like that? If so, you need to tell all the other thousands of companies what we are doing isn't allowed because a random RUclipsr is sure LOL
@@PepesTowingService Okay, I was wrong. Based on what I had heard some time ago I thought that some states have those vehicle-only restrictions. Guess not.
Yeah, it's scrap, but still.. that SWWOOOPP was not how you guys do things..
I have to ask: Who is in charge? With any lifting/ rigging, one person has to be in charge, come up with the plan, inspect the rigging, direct the lift. If you are not 100% sure of what you are doing, walk away, no ones life is worth a job.
It's also good to have a culture where everyone can put in their ideas. Where everyone has to agree it's safe and not just the boss. People make mistakes, so make decisions as a group.
Relax dude, not everything is so black and white. Dave is my best operator and both of us could do this blindfolded. I CLEARLY stated in the beginning Dave would be operating big flipper. Absolutely nothing wrong with me making suggestions. Sometimes they're better, sometimes they aren't. Relax.
Excellent response
I hate those head cameras
Good thing nobody has a gun to your head to force you to watch them. Also, it's a chest mount :)
