I like that you really went in and spread the eyeshadow to show how it looks like blended out instead of just a swatch! I don't do one and done shadows often since my eye shape is a little weird without a darker crease but these are perfect for a two shadow look for me!
I totally understand, I feel the same about my eye shape too and will often do a slightly darker shade in the crease as well. I'm so happy you found it helpful thank you lovely 💗💗💗
This was truly inspiring to me. I've been stuck in 1 and done being single shadows, but really palettes have some great 1 and dones also. I also really appreciate how you specified shades that would look good on darker skin tones. From a black woman, Thank you! 👏🏿 👏🏿
I love metallics as one and done shadows, but I have more deep set eyes so I’m always trying to bring light to my eyes. The Colourpop super shock shadows are amazing for one. Lisa Eldridge liquid lured are beautiful for one and done looks but more sparkly.
I have slightly hooded eyes too, but I absolutely use shimmers and metallic shadows as my “one and done” shadows. My current favorites are the Chantecaille single shadows (the endangered giants collection I think it’s called…). I use the elephant, rhinoceros and giraffe eyeshadows ALL the time😊. I also use my Pat McGrath pallets loads. Thank you for a wonderful video (as usual❤)
My favorite one and dones come from face products/palettes! Obviously going in your your own face bronzer/contour/highlighter works fantastically for a monochromatic look, but I love having face palettes with those products that have different tones that might not work on my face to use on the eyes. Matte bronzers/contours work great, satin/glowy bronzers also work slightly more dimensional looks, and ANY highlighter adds so much dimension. Cheaper highlighters that are too texture enhancing or glittery for the face are gorgeous on the eyes! And highlighters closer to your skin tone actually work ALL over the eye, from brow bone to lash line and into the inner corner. It shines and highlights the brow bone and inner corner, brighten the lid, and the right one will look less reflective in the crease and outer corner and add a shadow somehow. It’s like magic. Even blushes can work well if you like the specific color or tone on you: matte, satin, glowy, and shimmery alike. So if you’ve got face palettes you’re not using or palettes with shades you’re not using on your face, they might work great on your eyes! I use highlighters as one and dones ALL the time!
I also LOVE how u talk about the inspiration with each shade like how they would look good in ur opinion I love how u talked through each shade please do more videos like this once and a great while girl ur the best!!!
I think I've been doing one and dones since before it had a name lol. I used to be so intimidated with pallettes and trying to put an eye look together so I just started using one shade all over or one shade and a shimmer. I'm much better at multiple colors and blending now, but if you're in a rush, nothing beats a good one and done look
Technically I don’t ever do one and done as I have deep set eyes and will always lay down a transition shade. So MY one and done days are when I use my bronzer through the crease and then choose a single shadow for the lid, and surprisingly (basic biotch), it’s usually a shimmer. Thank you for giving me some new options so I don’t have to cheat!
That's my go to as well!! It's so easy because if the bronzer suits your skin tone anyways then it will definitely look ok on the eyes lol. I will either do straight bronzer as a one and done, or do as you said and do bronzer in crease and shimmer on the lid. It never lets me down
Nice! These videos are keeping me since I just moved and half my shadows are in transit &the other half are unpacked but sitting bc I need to buy a new vanity. Thanks for keeping me sane!! Please do a vanity/ beauty room tour.
Ohhh moving is stessful so I hope its all gone smoothly for you. Setting up a new makeup space is the absolute best though! And I am going to film a room tour soon actually I'm just making some finishing touches 😊💗💗💗
This video was so extremely helpful. One and done looks are my go to look. I have several Pat McGrath and Natasha Denona palettes. Dior Cosmopolite is a single that I wear for one and done. It has been discontinued, but Beige Mitzah is similar. It has a metallic finish. I have hooded eyes and I like it. I will try the matte shades that you suggested.
This was great! Thank you for such in-depth swatches showing how these all blend out. The satin shades are definitely my favourite for one and done shadows, outside of that I am more likely to go with a shimmer than a matte and I find Pat's shimmers to be great for that. The TF shadows look really nice for this type of look but I don't have any of his quads! PS. I was thinking about your PMG and ND series and I know its too early for you to do another mini series but I thought it might be fun to re-visit your mashups - I don't think you ever did ND mashups but you have more PMG palettes now so this could be fun to do again!
Thank you Chelsey. I'm so glad it was helpful. I'm the same actually, I think satin is perfect for one and dones 🙌 Haha yes I can definitely do mashups, definitely will make it more interesting I think for sure. I was also thinking of doing maybe a 12 days of palettes that were just 12 different ones in my collection that don't get as much love. What do you think? 💗💗💗
That is so sweet what u said about everyone chatting in the comments and how it makes ur heart melt!! ❤️ awwww!!! We're all hear for the same thing the love of makeup!! Thank u for doing what u do girly!
Wow! This may be the best one and done shadow video I've ever seen! I love that, first of all, this was palette focused. There are so many palettes that are neglected in my collection and you've just expanded my world thinking of different ways to use them. For example, while you didn't touch on the Zendo palette, it's one that I have (picked up really cheap!), and I hardly ever use. I like the colors in the palette, but I fail miserably when trying to make a cohesive eye look out of it. But now looking at it as a palette of one and dones, I have brand new perspective and I can't wait to use it--especially this fall! Next, I love that instead of a full-throated swatch, you showed them blended out, giving a much more realistic picture of what they may look like on the eye. Finally, I love, love, love that you often suggested lip colors to rock with each shade. That's one area I often struggle with and while I am drawn to beautiful bold lip colors (and also blush colors), I'm often quite unsure about what colored lip to wear with different eye looks. I'm good on matching clothing to lip colors, but to tie it in with what to do on my eyes....😳😵🤯. You have really helped bridge that gap. This video was brilliant all around. Thank you so very much! ❤️❤️❤️ P.S. I also love the focus on the mattes! I believe that most O-A-D videos are all shimmer, foils, and glittery focused. Honestly, besides using bronzer or blush on the eyes, I don't know that I've ever really considered matte shadows when thinking about the OADs in my collection. Mind blown again! 🤯 And I love it! ❤️❤️❤️
Awww thank you so so much! I am so happy it was helpful for you and thank you watching! Ps I have my eye on Zendo for one and dones especially it looks perfect for that! 💗💗💗
I have extremely hooded eyes (if my lids weren't so thick, you wouldn't see any lid below the brow bone) but I still like a shimmer because it tends to hide creasing a little better. On top of that, it's just pretty. I still like mattes, though. So 75% of the time, it's a satin/shimmer/metallic, and the rest of the time, it's matte.
I feel like satin shades are so good for one and done because i find them to be kinda boring on the lid as the shimmer in a full look, but as a one and done it gives a bit more dimension wothout fully putting a shimmer in the crease
This is really useful for work days, I'm always the person who arrives at just about 9am, when ideally I would like to arrive 5-10 mins before but never seem to, because of the 20 mins in the morning it takes me to do my makeup lol. I have some of these so will give some of these one eyeshadow looks a go, it will save me those minutes :)
I love ND cream to powder shadows for this function! Usually I do 1shadow look to focus on cheek/lip, but powder mattes look so dry. The CTP has a little sheen that's still short of satin and is perfect for this purpose. Biba - rayon, tor, tone or any from Metropolis. I use the Patrick Ta cream shadows for this as well.
I love a good one and done. My all time favorites are the Chantecaille luminescent eye shades. All the colors. Jones Road has some good one and done singles as well. A dryer formula but they blend well and have a good selection of neutral colors in matte and metallic finishes (penny and patina are fave one and done shades). BTW, I hear Tom Ford is releasing new quads in the cream formula for Fall. I haven’t seen pics yet but I don’t care, I want them all!
Oh I've been eyeing those Chantecaille shadows so good to know, thank you Kathy! I'll check out the Jones Road ones as well 😊 And yes!! and you know I will also be buying them all haha I actually think it might be my all time fav eyeshadow formula... I know crazy haha but they are so perfect 💗💗💗
Subliminal Taupe! The OG! I am definitely in the ‘you go Glen Coco’ camp, just shove a sparkly shade on there and blend the edge with a fluffy brush. HOWEVER! You’ve made the cogs turn and today I’m gonna try a matte only. That’s the best thing about your videos coming out in the mornings is that they’re great work inspo! 🥳
Yes! You can't go past it haha So I think I'm jumping on the sparkly bus because I got the Isamaya palette and it changed some things for me haha Awww bless you, thank Brooke! 💗💗💗
@@brookezab7290 I actually like all of them, except there could have been better shade selection in the red and gold colors. They are very similar. I think with this palette, there's not a lot of looks that will be different. But every color is gorgeous. Very wearable palette.
I loved this video. Super helpful! Thank you! Sometimes you just don’t have time to do all this blending and choosing shades and whatnot. So this is super needed. I like to use duochromes for my one and dones because it makes it look like you tried much harder. Lol
Yesss! Also omg! I’ve been on the HUNT for an eye primer that isn’t expensive af/doesn’t have a ton of bae pigment, and OMG! The BEST one I just came across. Nyx has a new eye base called “Shadow and Liner primer ultimate” and HOLY. I loveee it. It gives the perfect amount of grip, doesn’t have a ton of pigment (I have naturally darker lids/eye area, and I like not covering and instead like to work with it haha), but it makes my routine so much easier. The TF quads I use everyday stick to it beautifully, and extend the weartime. Still need to try it with my Pat, but yeah, so far in LOVE. For one and dones, my TF quads just… nothing compares, at least imo.
Ohh that’s so cool! I’ll have to go find this primer for sure, thank you for sharing 🙌🏼 and I do agree the TF quads make the absolute best one and dones 💗💗
Excellent video! I adore TF Quads, the ones you showed are my favs 😍. I love a cool toned and or muted purple on my eyes (or lips), I'm looking for a shda like MAC Driftwood for the eyes

Totally inspired after this video. Do you own Sydney Grace shadows? Their Christmas in July sale is on now.
Oh yay! Thank you! I have the Mel Thompson palette and that’s it but I’ll check out the sale thank you!! 💗💗
I second the Sidney Grace shadows. They have an excellent formula and beautiful colors.
I recently "duped" all of the VB lid lusters with my SG singles and put them in a single palette. It's cured my FOMO monster (for now) and their formula is so heavenly! ❤️❤️❤️
