Thanks to you and your message at the right time. I recorded doing my vectra c brakes for everyone. If you had not messaged me when you did I would not of got the camera out as I had already started, so everyone that the video helps out, has you to thank. 👍👍👍👍
@@oraclescave we really appreciate it, honestly. there's nothing worse than going to a tutorial video and you find some yank is holding the camera chatting utter shit about why he bought the car and who he bought it from blah blah when all we want to see is something like how to reprogramme a new fucking alarm fob or how to adjust the handbrake on a focus haha
This is what I'm talking about. A no bullshit, straight to the point, no advertising tutorial on how to do something. Your entire channel should be based on this. Good job and thanks for the tips.
A bit late to the party with this as it’s an old video… But great guide, clear, well explained & informative. Thank you! I’ll do mine today. I appreciate you. Top man!
What you actually need to do is the following for Rear Disks. Park on the flat, Handbrake off, slacken off both of those 13mm nuts fully, handbrake still off, start the car in neutral and apply the foot brake a few times. You will notice the threaded bar has now been pulled down, take up the obvious slack with the 13mm nuts and apply the handbrake, it will need to be adjusted to the point the car/wheels still free roll and as you click the handbrake to the first click it should stop rolling. You will have full bite of the handbrake at around 3/4 clicks now.
I also have a video on changing the brakes, very simple, saves hundreds. And if you need to tighten up your handbrake just be careful the rear pads are not already worn. It should tighten for the test, but worst case scenario, I have a video that can help do your full brake system at home. 👍👍👍
You know I need a good handbrake, you've seen where I live.....so....I do it annually, if not more. BUT on my Clio the rear shoe adjusters don't work, so I take the drums of and tighten manually. It's very important to check the rear brakes are adjusted properly before adjusting the cable. Sure you know, but just pointing it out, otherwise you'll most likely have an inefficient handbrake.
MalcOfLincoln i have a Ford Focus estate 2005 MK2 1600 petrol. Passed MOT this week. Mileage O V E R 222 000 miles. 👍🏻 If i get another year out of it 👍🏻👍🏻. 2 will definitely be a bonus. Will it reach 250 000 ? Change my oil exerts myself... 6000 miles .
thanks for this, and me thinking I got to go under the car to tighten my hand brakes, but my focus is an auto would you know if I should have it in park or nutral?
It won't matter, just give the nut adjustment until you feel tension then maybe a "wee bit more" that saves a second attempt lol. If you have the parking brake on until you get tension, then maybe release the brake and give it another little snug up. That will reduce the chances of a runaway car, dump something under the tyres, I try to get the wife to do it but she never falls for that one 😉 It's easy enough that a second attempt is not all that bad, and most of all you get to fix it while still sitting in your comfy spot. 👍👍👍
The big man it might of had one at one point. Handbrake turns stretch the cables though so I'm always popping that piece and tightening it lol I already need new cables that's it on its last adjustment, i go through car brakes like a box of cornflakes. Next up is the exhaust, just going to get a decent stainless steel one so I never have to replace it again. That will be a fun video with rust in my eye ha ha ATB Darren

Ouch, that hurts You should check my handbrake tightening video, that might save you a fake/early brake pad job, or cable replacement job. Takes 2 minutes and easier than making toast. 👍👍👍
Nobody claimed it did, you are needing to unscrew your brake caliper adjuster to fix brakes. This video was showing how to tighten your handbrake. I am also sorry it doesn't show how to bake a cake or slap yourself with a wet fish. But they sre also called SELF ADJUSTING for a reason, and you only need to screw them closer when putting new pads, they don't need to be tightened, either your pads are bald or your adjusters don't work, in that case pull them out and give them a good wire brushing then lubricate them and re-install. But this is how you tighten a handbrake cable
brake shoes auto adjust........every time you apply the brake and e brake.......so if you closed the adjuster to get you hub back on easier you need to repeat pressing brakes and ebrake untill the adjuster takes up the slack ....done yesterday
Great video. No flashy images, hints to subscribe or endless waffling. Straight to the point, love it.

Yes you can wind your drum winders to set your brakes, but this is how you tighten your cable
