Yangzhou Qingqu 揚州清曲 is a form of Quyi 曲藝 singing (Storytelling) developed on the basis of folk songs and minor tunes that were popular in Yangzhou 揚州 during the Ming 明 and Qing 清 Dynasties. , mainly popular in Yangzhou, Zhenjiang 鎮江 in Jiangsu Province and Shanghai City 上海, performed in Yangzhou dialect.
Traditionally, Yangzhou Qingqu is a performance without makeup, without words and without form, with a light, concise and unpretentious style. Among them, the most valuable is music. The tunes are derived from local minors, and also include minors from all over the mainland China, which are full of folk and regional characteristics.
On May 20, 2006, the folk art was approved by the PR China Cultural Council to be included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage list.

Xiao Ronggui 筱榮貴(February 1933- October 11, 2018), female, formerly known as Li Ronggui, a famous Yangju performing artist, a national first-class actor, the ancestor of the "Freedom Tune" (Zi You Diao 自由調) genre of Yangju 揚劇, and enjoying the professor-level government Subsidy, the inheritor of national intangible cultural heritage, once sang popular with Jin Yungui 金運貴, the master of Jin Pai 金派 （the school of Jin) Yangju Opera 揚劇, and was highly praised by Mr. Mei Lanfang梅蘭芳 and Mr. Tian Han 田漢. interview.
At 5:50 a.m. on October 11, 2018, Xiao Ronggui, a famous Yangju performing artist and founder of the "Free Tune" genre of Yangju, passed away at the age of 86.
