    Good basic video, did anyone else notice that they did not remove the pump until they finally removed the housing bolts ? Good piece of info that this video is missing is that you MUST get a Torx Plus t50 socket for those housing bolts. It’s a must. A regular t50 will not do.

    Those little springs that your didn't have is probably why your clutches are done. Those little springs keep the plate from engaging the clutches when they are free and not being used. Any old rebuilder will never remove those if they want the transmission to last. If you are looking for a firmer shift than do it in the Accumulators in the valve body and drilling larger holes in the valve body plate where the check ball valves are.

      EXACTLY CORRECT.
      I'm70yrs old and probably done more than 100 of these 4L60E, 4L65E and 700r4.
      Those little Springs keep the Frictions from rubbing while in other gears...THEY ARE DESIGNED TO KEEP THE FRICTIONS APART AND FROM RUBBING!!!
      HINT: If the manufacturer designers have parts in there then it's in there for a reason. Don't try out guessing them and end up ruining something...That's not to say there are other performance upgrades but don't just leave something like these little springs out.
      If your trans doesn't have them then they are so cheep to buy at about any trans supply store and worth their weight in GOLD and then some.
      JUST A FYI for any home builder.

    • @Bryan-Hensley
      @Bryan-Hensley Год назад

      @@1018Video they are definitely correct. It's a weak solution the factory did because the 4l60e has a clutch release issues. It's also very important to use the correct transmission fluid. Some fluids like type F have friction modifiers and type 3 has anti friction additives.

I've already had intermittent service 4WD, and was going to get to that, unfortunately today when I went to go see neighbor it was in 4Low, and after the offroad portion ended of my run ended and I got to pavement I noticed high rpm's, drove to Post Office trying to Isolate symptoms other than the transfer case not shifting, it was DRAMATICALLY HANGING IN GEAR BETWEEN SHIFTS, and would only upshift after coasting, but mostly hanging in 1st too long and 2nd too long, not sure if it was getting into 3rd and4th at all, kind of hard when in 4Lo. • @1018Video

      We always recommend a full rebuild when something like that happens, because metal pieces can be spread through your transmission and that can cause other things to fail later on. Plus if the transmission is already out it would be better to get everything done now instead of having to pull the transmission back out again later.

  • @cantbuytime

    I read the comments and you said it worked fine afterwards, but after lots of reading and vids, I've learned a # of things can cause this same issue. Cracked input drum, loose shaft at input drum, bad check ball in input drum, bad check ball in case , etc etc. Mine has burned up 3-4 clutch so bad they look like a rainbow. I'm hoping the issue is the same thing you found here.

      They don't know what they are doing! They are just guessing. When you know what you are doing, you know the purpose of every valve in the transmission, no matter what make or model.

      Well, if this gentleman knows what he's doing and how to fix the problem, then so be it. People learn how to do a lot of things in life by watching others do it. Then you practice what you learn until you get really good at it. Not everything requires college or ASE certification. Being a mechanic isn't hard, but it's not easy either....either way you just have to be willing to put in the work that it takes to fix a vehicle, whether your ASE certified, or not

    Sir the car transmission is making whinning noise, and delays in shifting. I checked for the fuel level is Ok, I checked for the oil still fresh not burned, I checked for any leaks no any leaks, I open the pan, but there were no any metal shavings on the magnets no any particles on the fluid, I decided to change the transmission filter, I checked and open the valve body no any clogs on the passages, I removed all solenoids I tested them all, and one was not working, I changed it with new one, I put back everything I test drive the vehicle no more whinning noise at all and shifting gears smoothly, but after two days as i drive reaching speed of 100 mph, the whinning noise started again, and the car struggles to exceed speed of 100mph, the RPM goes high and the speed is not achieved, what can be the problem, and what can be done sir? Kindly help with ideas.

    This comment is for the camera guy or girl who knows nowadays no offense. Anyway stop now this guy has no business showing people how to build a transmission just for the simple Fact that he did not so much clean one part of that before throwing it back together. Shit you didn't even know it the clutches was new or the old ones because I heard you ask. I mean good God man he could have at bare minimum thrown a $3.00 can of brake clean in that drum to get the burnt fluid and grit out. Not cleaning parts and inspection is pure laziness and I you can't at least try to do the very best you can just don't do it and especially showing people the wrong way. Sorry for the negativity but I spoke the truth.

      4. This video is for people trying to get their transmission working with the bare minimum tools in their garage or on their carport. Cleaning that stuff out would've done absolutely nothing but waste time, obviously, cause the transmission is still perfect today. Some people believe these transmissions are things you have to be super careful with, if you look at it too hard it'll break, that's not the case. It's fine.
