Haha I appreciate it. Though I talk a lot in streaming it’s usually not stuff I care deeply about because I always get the “who cares” mind set and so it gets me nervous when I think I’m chatting to much about a specific topic.
I got Army Men World War working by setting it to windows vista compatibility. So far, my pc only hates the original, but I got it work by turning off compatibility mode and then added the exe file as a non steam game.
This is cool as shit man. I love the creativity on display here. Fascinating to see the game broken down like this, and all your scripting work is really cool. I'm impressed with the scenario you made here.
Appreciate it! It’s been an uphill battle understanding the software at the moment to be honest because on the 4th mission there is unique code that I can’t modify haha. But comments like these make it truly worth it :) so thank you
I did take a look at the leaked (was it leaked?) editor myself a little while back, and it was too confusing for me to understand, so kudos to you for being able to figure it out! Unlike every other Army Men game released on the PC, only the first game stores all of its sounds in some weird .asd sound bank format. They all are just standard .wav files though.
Yeah my next task when I’m able to get a bit more time is to look at how I can get into some of the object.dat files along with being able to tamper with the asd files. The big issue is this game is built with gum, tape, and a dream and any minor thing causes crashes or video glitches haha
I have learned some things i can do for army men 2 to try and test some things but sadly it would be about 10% of what i am able to do with army men 1 (i can add more units/remove units, change the code, and add more items but i cant change the map layout at all)
Sadly at the moment Army men 1 is the only game that we have the map editor for. Once im done with this though i'll 100% be looking to use my knowledge to see if there is anyway i can smoothly mod army men 2.
I hope you can somehow make the editor more friendly for us less savvy computer folks haha … I wish it was like how army men 2 multiplayer was where you place units , rotate them etc. I wish it could be like “place way point here , defend , attack posture - simplistic things but I’m sure this is super in depth to code on your side
So it’s not as complicated as it may seem but when it’s all done I’m planning to create like a 3 hour tutorial( pretty much everything I have learned into one video that will be bookmarked so people can jump around to learn specific things) and hopefully that will help people make sense of it more. Every time I mess with it I learn something new tbh which is why I haven’t created a big tutorial yet

I really need to play those old games, but i still love the fact that people still make stuff for these older games, its kind of insane
This project is super cool! Your rambling was actually interesting, it’s nice to hear how passionate about this you are.

Awesome seeing people keeping the dream alive *salutes*
appreciate it! yeah hoping one day Ill be able to find a way to mess with AM2, toys in space, WW, etc
Thank you for putting in the hard in the work to build this mod.
Not a problem! It’s been a lot of fun so far and excited to see what other stuff I find while messing around with it
very excited to get more missions involving the blue and gray! love this~
What a excelent job! I hope we can get every game in the series running at modern computers with no problems
Thank you! Yeah that would be sick

@@tkspence I can't even imagine trying to reverse engineer it, but props to you dude. I'm sure theres all kinds of oddities like that baked in.
The mad lad actually did it
Awesome!

Good job man!
If you could make an army men 2 or toys in space map pack I would literally pay you.

Awesome work man , I hope to play a full campaign some day … any thoughts on doing this with army men 2 engine ?

@@tkspenceepic king!
You need to recreate this with real army men
though a neat idea i sadly dont think the map editor they used will support that kind of idea D:
Epic!!
