  • Here are more information on the technical layout of my inverter setup.
    - 8kVA DEYE hybrid inverter
    - Stage 2 (7.68kWh, 1C) VOLTA battery
    - 2 Strings of 4x 550W JA solar panels
(more panels will be beneficial during winter)
    50A breakers to inverter
    40A breaker from inverter
    40A ELU before Essentials loads
25A ELU (or 2P breaker) to Smart Load
    Geyser 1 - 150L - 3kW
    Geyser 2 - 200L - 2kW (replaced element)
Auto change-over switch to geyser with
    - Smart Load feed
    - Grid feed via Smart Timer
(set via App on rainy days)
Relay - powered by geyser no.1's power from element (after thermostat)
Relay switches geyser no.2 off when no.1 is on
    and visa versa.
Timer unit on main Smart Load output to limit usage time to between 10am - 3pm
(prevents unnecessary use of battery by
    Smart Load in late afternoons)

You should consider more panels they are getting cheaper.. especially that you have 2 geysers. Solarways warehouse have better prices for the panels.

Very inteeresting. How lon do you heat up a single geyser? I understand they are 2kw ?

It depends on how empty (cold) it was.
If almost fully empty (cold) a 150l will take 1h30min on 3kW.
If heated with solar power, I turn it up to 60°C to last till the morning.
I have a 200l with 3kW element in, but use little water to pre-feed a regulated temp geyser (Harver 30l induction)
      If fully empty, I guess a 200l, 2kW will take around 3h.
      With enough sun, it's ideal.
Smart Load starts around 10:30am (summer)
You then have until 4pm to heat the geyser (4.4kW panels as minimum)
