Sounds great 👍The MK3 is now starting to get the plaudits it deserves. Owned my 2zz swap for 3 years now and it still puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. It gets LOTS of attention at the track too, as it punches well above its weight and surprises much more powerful machinery.
I've had my T-Sport for 2 years now and I still react to lift in this exact way 😂👍. The 2ZZ-GE is such an underrated engine.
Coming from 1.8 MX-5 NB to MR2 MK3 made me realise that MR2 is on a whole different league! Forget handling, the rust alone is good enough reason not to invest anything into the MX-5. As for the lift off, I feel like going to the moon mate, feels like I'm sitting front of the rocket! Unbelievable and undiluted experience. Disagree completely. I have a Mk1 MX5 1.6 with a few minor mods to exhaust and uprated brakes from a 1.8, all ridiculously cheap to do. Bought an MR-S from a friend and drove them back to back and the MX is a much better handling car. I considered a 2ZZ conversion but it's thousands of pounds, putting it way in excess of £5k. A 1.8 VVTi engine swap is a fraction of the cost, if I chose that route.
@@bugattieb110ss Congratulations! You just have proved yourself to be a bad driver. Ever wondered why all super cars, F1 and best handling cars are mid-engined? I guess not. Next time you drive an MR2, brake earlier than you'd do with your MX-5 and accelerate through the corners. It may sound strange but that's how you'll get to drive the MR2 properly. MX-5 would understeer while MR2 would rotate. MX-5 is safer (for bad drivers) in the rain, I give you that.

2zz power. The MK3 MR2 and Celica soooo underrated it's criminal. Both had the 1zz and 2zz can fit the MR2 and when it does you get results like yours. Both cars so light that the power that comes from the engine makes a massive difference. Glad you loved your new engine.
Seems like a no brainers toyota putting this motor in this chassis idk why it never happened. I have a JDM Toyota Corolla RunX Z 2zzge I daily in New Zealand love it, motor sings at high rpm and lift hits hard

The 2zz doesn't burn oil the 1zzfe does due to the pistons rings

I’ve got a Corolla TSport with the 2zz it’s absolutely mint and been track never ever skips a beat
America calling. Happy for you. The 2zz sounds as though it's transition to lift is more seamless and less pronounced than a k-swap Vtec. My imagination? Spyder prices are on the rise here, so the word is out and thriving. The Spyder is an excellent example of "driving a slow car fast". Subscribed👍
When in a 2zz mr2. there is a huge difference in the "lift" noise. but it never comes across on camera
so hyped my mr2 is in the shop rn getting the 2zz dropped in

Opposite, the 2zz lift engagement is WAY more noticable stock for stock then a k20

I had a wide body mr2 with a 2zz and that what amazing, quicker 0-100 than a e46 m3😅 but coilovers is a must!

Just bought a Corolla XRS and the plan is to swap the 2zz and 6spd into my mr2 Spyder. Part of me really wants to wait and buy a supercharger to go along with it..
Anyone supercharged this? It's fun as it is but with potentially almost double horsepower I can't imagine the speed lol

I have a 03 matrix xrs with the 2zz motor and also I'm my opinion one of the best sounding 4 cylinder ever made it's hard to grasp the sound through the video but in person is amazing you just have to drive a 2zz to understand
Sounds great, if you are going to do track work in it, you are going to need at least a half cage, and a moroso baffled sump. These cars have zero rollover protection and the stock 1zz and 2zz sumps are likely to lead to oil starvation.
there is a roll hoop in the screen but yeah cage always good for track use

Really enjoyed the video man. Just wondering if you've tried it on stock wheels? They're not everyone's taste but they really do drive best on the stock wheels. I used to have the yaris t sport wheels like yours on one and it felt super weird and sketchy. Just changing it to stock wheels made it feel so much more planted and confident.

Great car, I have the same as I did the same swap with 2ZZ taken from Selika together with the 6-speed gearbox, taking the LSD differential from the factory gearbox of MP2. I rebuilt the 2zz engine before I swapped it, but unfortunately the engine broke due to low oil pressure. The oil pump was factory, now I will put a new engine again 2zz I am considering a variant to put an oil accumulator, (Accusump)Please write me how you solved the problem with low oil pressure and success with the car project is interesting :)
Totally agree with you...the MX5 is milquetoast compared to the MR2, and yours is great. I'm trading my 350Z for one this week.

I’ve had a T sport and whilst it’s a good engine it’s no k20 😁 I had a a few mk3’s and a k20 swapped mk3 mr2 couple of years ago. Currently building a k24 swapped mk3 and fired it up for the first time today! Great cars but make sure you do something about the oil system if you go on track and don’t mis shift or the oil pump will exit the building

Nice sounding car, but does sound very similar to a lot of the 4 cylinder VTEC engines - wouldn't say one sounded better than another I probably couldn't tell from the noise if it was Toyota or Honda lol. Cool car though!

How is it not like vtec? System works in a very similar way with the cam change.

@@FIFTYSPENCE97 I’ve driven a high powered booster k20 and a high comp N/A b16. The cam change is more pronounced yes, but generally the systems are similar with the sound, high revving nature and just the way they work. Imo😎
