I wish the Oak Ridge Boys would do a gospel record of old standards like this. My Dad's favorite is Whispering Hope. He used to play guitar and sing that song in Church when I was a kid.

It is so so refreshing to hear some of these old, somewhat forgotten hymns. some of the newer songs are nice, but they often just don’t carry the weight of richness that many of these old hymns do. Thank you for sharing.

remembrance .. Was a kid at Church when the news came out and I first heard that the Oak Ridge Boys were leaving Gospel to go country... remember my older sister was so upset as the ORBs were top of the chart in gospel ... Now that memory always pops up every time I Hear the name "Oak Ridge Boys"

'I Love to Tell the Story' was my dear grandfather's favorite hymn. He retired from the ministry in the fall of 1963. He died about six months later on Palm Sunday 1964, if memory serves me right. I went to the calling hours, but was not allowed to go to his funeral. However, as their former beloved pastor, his church had a memorial service for him about one week after Easter 1964. All of my family was at the memorial service. Hearing this blessed song tonight brought back this beautiful, distant memory, and hearing that day how many of his parishioners loved him. Wow. Where have the 60 years gone? Thank you for posting! 🙏🙏
This is really quite beautiful! Sadly, I don't often recognize a song sang at my church nowadays. I understand religion must appeal to young folks, but in my view modern gospel isn't nearly a good as the old standards.

I would like the copyright for I Love to Tell the Story. It was written by Vestal Goodman. She wrote I Love to Tell the Story in Italian. It was written on January 12, 1973 in Haifa. Vestal was a chaperone for Ivan C. Parker and I on our honeymoon. This song was Vestal's ideas as she thought back on the sights we had seen in the Holy Land. My mother helped Vestal translate I Love to Tell the Story into English. (Vestal Goodman is my mother's grand-aunt.)
