I didn't realize Turkish psychedelic folk rock music was something I needed in my life, but this is excellent! And the video is absolutely gorgeous; the minimalist aesthetic with the paper cutouts looks so good here, and the mood of it all is just immaculate!
Actually iconic 50's and 60's Surf Rock riffs are based on songs written by Turkish and other Mediterranean Seafarers, Corsairs and Pirates. Islam...doesn't allow alcohol....ever notice how strong Turkish coffee/tea is? Ever notice Islamic influenced artwork in Mosques and palaces from Spain all the way along the Silk Road to China? Funny how hookahs were invented prior to tobacco ever being available to anyone in Europe/Asia/Africa/Australia. 🤔💭
It's Turkish, lyrics are include traditional motifs or poems. Rakı is traditional drink with ethyl alcohol, wheat, barley, corn and sugar. Rakıya Su Katamam it means: I can't add water to the raki. :)
@@Serkant75 Yes, but translations don't fully convey the depth of the lyrics, nor impart their poeticism or cultural background. I can read translated Turkish lyrics as an English speaker, but they're often largely nonsense if they're poorly translated, and even when well translated, they still don't carry the same weight they would to a native speaker or someone who is fluent. There isn't a substitute for a firsthand understanding and a relevant cultural background. And with a band that largely covers Anatolian Rock from the mid/late 20th Century, that's especially true. All of this is to say; yes, you can look up a translation, but it's still not going to be a substitute for genuine understanding, there's no reason to be sarcastic and dismissive. We're all here because we love their music whether or not we understand it lyrically.
Hello Altin Gün, i love you guys. ur music gives old music a new breath and lets the new generation experience old traditions. To my part i love Nesimi Cimen and his song Senden Gayri Asik yokmu. Pls would love to see you guys do something from Mr. Nesimi. may he rest in Peace. Love you guys
I fully LOVE IT, English is not my Mother Tongue....ICH LIEBE diese Interpretation dieses Songs sowie ich die Türkische Kultur in Bezug auf deren Musik LIEBE. DANKE.
I saw Altın Gün live 2 months ago in Zagreb. My mind was blown, I was unsure if I wanted to go or not because I wasn't too familiar with the band and I had no one to go with but I liked what I heard. The concert was phenomenal and the whole crowd was in awe. Two rows in front of me there was a girl totally into it and dancing during the whole show very much like the woman in this video which reminded me of her. I wanted to approach her after the show but she was with a group of people and I was by myself so I chickened out :( Great song, great video, very much looking forward to the album.
@@kwazimodorhamonowski1995 I would like that to happen but I just wanted to share the story because it was an interesting experience. If I'd wanted to reach out to her I would've specified what she looked like and where she was standing in the venue, because everyone was immersed in the music and dancing so it would be like searching for a needle in a haystack. I accepted the consequence of not knowing what could've happened by not approaching her, hopefully our paths will cross again one day.
update (doubt that anyone's interested though) Was thinking about going to see the band Shortparis yesterday. Similarly to Altın Gün, I liked the music but wasn't familiar with the band prior to the show. This time, however, I did not go. Someone posted a video from the show, and surprisingly, the girl I talked about here is in the front row. Now I'm certain that we'll meet at a show in the future, but the more time passes, the more it will hurt when I get rejected. My point is: if you want to approach someone, do it, if you're unsure whether you want to go to a concert or not, go (if money is not the issue). Rejection hurts, but regret is far worse in the long run
Lovely sounds, gorgeous psychedelic vibes and cool video. Cerys Matthews played this on her Sunday show!!! Sending love, light and POSITIVITY to Turkey and Syria.
