    Test cut with both in bigger wood. See if the holed one makes any difference.

    Probably need one without the holes for winter snow use. Echo carbs like freezing up in the winter if you don't put it on the winter setting.

    Put some screening in the holes. That does look good

      Yeah, I was gonna say that. Heavy cutting or using in the tree that filter would get caked pretty soon... It looks pretty nice, though 👍

    I can’t believe echo has not made a better filtration system for this saw.

      Stihl obviously doesnt need to filter worth a shit to sell saws, so why bother? Aftermarket will take care of it

    I was selling some 3D printed filter kits for this series of saw. I stopped due to lack of time and issues with cracking. I really hope this kit doesn't crack like mine did. I can see one place that may need a change and that's right at the rear where the handle could hit it. This kit looks much nicer than mine and I hope this comes to the market soon. The stock filtration is so bad I sold my 4910.

    That definitely looks like the best filtration upgrade for that chassis👍🏻 I'm very interested and will almost certainly be ordering one once they become available!

    It would be great to see a race between the one with holes and one without to see if the holes have any performance advantage.

    Would love to see one of these go to Dyno Joe to see if there is a significant flow increase on a hotter 4910/501.. the fines reduction would be enough, but more power more better!

  • @brandonsmith3447
    @brandonsmith3447 9 месяцев назад

    That is a good looking filter system. Idk if I’d rather have my saw blow up but some of the options are quite homely.

  • @richnorman5017

    Alex, did a GREAT Job On this design….. fits in nice while maintaining a stock look.
    Not sure of the venting on yours Boedy… it’s nice but would open the air box up for more debris….. but I’m thinking Frog Skin applied inside to keep most of it out.
    Regardless, best design out there in my opinion!!

    • @Mightycaptain
      @Mightycaptain 9 месяцев назад +1

      Yes frogskins would be a great solution. First seen that on @jimssawsnstuff channel. Thought it was brilliant. Plus is it if it already has places to draw air it will and is less likely to draw fines through cracks and other non air tight seals.

    Boedy, I forgot to mention earlier that I made an air filter for the husqvarna 2100. You probably know that you cant find any new filters for the 2100 so if you would like some filters let me know.

  • @BamaTony73
    @BamaTony73 7 месяцев назад

    Ok where and when can I purchase this new air filtration system for my 4910? I'm kidding Lol I know you mentioned several times that you wasn't sure. I sure do like it, and I like the cut out idea better that you came up with. Looks cool and will definitely make it run and last longer I'm sure. I'd like to get one (the kit with filter) whenever he gets enough made up to start selling them.

  • @mattfleming86

    There is a little plastic piece where the flywheel air goes into the carb box. I wonder if modifying it or replacing it would increase that positive flow?

  • @starlightHT

    To think that the Echo here in Europe has a recommended price equal to Husqy and Stihl... Maybe that's why you don't see many dealers selling Echo chainsaws

    • @Super-Dave-Outdoors
      @Super-Dave-Outdoors 9 месяцев назад +1

      Import fees and taxes!
      In australia an Echo cs590 is nearly 1600$ in the USA they are around 450$. In the USA a Stihl MS362 is 900$, at half the price for near equivalent power the 590 is a smokin deal here.

    • @starlightHT
      @starlightHT 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@Super-Dave-Outdoors You forgot one thing, the Australian dollar is worth less than the US dollar and the Euro is worth slightly more than the dollar. European companies drop their pants for the American market and adjust prices. The Americans don't want to know and they increase the price and hope to sell and conquer the market. The biggest multi-brand chainsaw store within a 100km radius of where I live, has everything from Husqy, Stihl and has two Echo chainsaws on display and no one buys them. Maybe because they cost a few euros more than the Stihl that everyone values as the best (not me, I like price-quality)

    After a couple three decades with the Husqvarna air box design then seeing how Stihl did the 441 air box design and the 391’s intake shortcomings… I’ve found that creating a more open elbow to utilize a larger more unrestricted filter surface area and opening up my cover system with more vents to help remove the restriction they appear to improve with that thinking. The echo or koritz saw’s are usually a little bit longer stroke’s and they don’t need a giant filter to be able to inhale enough air volume… it would be very interesting to see a more J like larger diameter turn in the elbow and then possibly flip the air filter upside down to make the factory space limitations still work??? I know in the HVAC world when they want to run over and sneak the air ducks up though the walls they are basically just taking the round 8” into the rectangular box that’s like 3” inches thick and 14” inches wide…8x3.145… is 25?cubic inches and a 3x14 is more like a 42 cubic… so it’s actually really almost twice the volume in that “junction” section piece to match the original piece’s flow potential??? Kinda like the filter setting on a 2” sphere with the smaller inlet and outlet tube diameter… so the actual cubic volume of the turn area is greatly increased…??? Kinda like a blue 2.5” diameter racket-ball, ball with a couple little 1” openings on it’s top and side??? I definitely remember how much less restriction was created in a 22 degree angle and the 45 degree angle over the 90 degree angle change…. The flow was massively reduced by the 90…???

    Thx Buddy! My packaged arrived today. So fucking existed! I think those Airfiter can handle the german beech wood way better than the stock filterl If so - We need a complete Airfilter Lineup from 2511SX, 390SX, 501H SX, 620SX and 7310SX. Did you ever mention to use the filter from the Dolmar PS6100? First its clearly a chainsaw filter so its buildfor that. Second: The design, funktion and form could fit 99% of the saw up from 45ccm³.
    Also Dolmar offer at least 2 types of filters, maybe the are just offering 3 for diffrent enverioments where dirts and and other types of woodchips will come up. Thats what mostly chainsaw manufacturs do now days, because the Autotune/M-Tronic/What-Ever is so snapped (like most women today) that the need the right filter or they will start to fuck you up. Surly not at once - No! They are smart. Example: They fuck you really up when you deep in the woods and the sparparts you are so despratöy need is a 30 minute walk away to you truck.
    Greetings and pls dont kill me =)
