I absolutely adore this character! I'd love to see more drawing of iconic characters with your own artistic twist. Even if they are full time-lapse drawings.
"I know I'm just "another fan" but I'm so grateful" --You're not just another fan to me; it means a lot to me that you took the time to share your thoughts. I'm dying to know how you used the explosion tutorial to make a present for your dad, though! ^_^ ~Mark
My lil sister said to comment that at 1:39 it looks like a fish is swallowing a person.. yeah, she's a little odd... Anyway, thanks for the drawing tutorials Mark, they've helped me a lot with my artistic abilities=)
Thank you. This was amazing to follow. It was my first time drawing a full face, hands and torso. Even though you didn't teach that part the timelaps enabled me to get a handle on it. Thank you again. Will be looking into your other videos on how to draw faces, hands, and other anatomy.
Wow, stunning!! Hey, Mark, I think you should do a video giving tips on inking. You make it look so easy and pull it off flawlessly in this video, but I know from experience how frustrating it can be to get inked illustrations to look just right.
"Do you do live commentary or after your done recording talk to us?" --All the commentary you hear is done live while I am drawing the image you see in the video. None of it is ever recorded later. ~Mark
"Do you think your book(mastering manga) is released in Singapore" --It's at a online bookstore in Singapore called Opentrolley. They have Mastering Manga in stock and Mastering Manga 2 available as a pre-order. Thanks! ~Mark

Wow i have been painting this huge painting of Ariel from the little mermaid and i was stuck painting these scales! lol i soend hours trying different ways to try to paint them but your simple yet effective way of mapping out scales ....made my day lol ty!
mark I love your videos and I recently used your technique of mixing up media as you say for my first project at art school. I am so grateful to you because my tutor really liked it and so did my classmates, especially because everything was hand done whereas most people used photoshop or illustrator. Thank you so much mark and please please please put up all your music you have created as a playlist!
Mark, thank you so much for creating drawing tutorials. I'm an artist and I love to draw, I've learned most of my skills from you!! You are so awesome. Keep it up.
I just could NOT draw scales on anything and I would never be able to figure how to do it. This helped me SO much with creating the scales and the small details that go with it. I will definitely use this as a reference. Thanks Mark!! :D
Everyone always tells me I should become an artist when I grow up, and by everyone i mean EVERYONE. My classmates, my mom, my dog and even my siblings. Mine looks almost the same as yours!
Your tutorials are awesome, but that's just because you're an AWESOME artist! My skills and techniques have grandly improved. I think more disney-based videos would be very awesome. You, Mr. Crilley, are a generous and talented man, to share your techniques and tips with us. we all really appreciate it, so keep up the awesome work! c:
Great video, although some parts are time lapsed, it is a great tutorial. Good explaining of technics. The gauche gives a great effect, I am totally goning to try this, on bleu paper is indeed a good idea.
Oh My Gosh Mark, Your the most inspiring artist! I am begging my mom to get me one of your how to draw books! You have inspired me to make so much art and pushed me to do better! Thank you so much!
Oh my gosh. Story Time! A year or two ago, I wanted to draw a mermaid. I saw plenty of videos, but I didn't like any of them enough to actually draw them. Now, here it is. The video I've been searching for. Thank you, Crilley, for fulfilling the prophecy.
Personally I would love to see another "monster" video. Not only would it go with the upcoming season, but also would help tremendously on my book drawings! :)
Mark, I love your videos. I've always dreamed about becoming a mangaka and when I saw your videos I became really determined about it. Now I'm working really hard to achieve my dream! Thank you!

My friend bought Mastering Manga 1 and I looked it over and WOW!!' Now both our drawings are tons better!! Thanks Mark!! Lots of love from Jay and Micaela :)
In a story I'm making there's this underwater scene I'm trying to illustrate. Do you have advice for drawing things (like clothes, hair, as well as things just floating) in water?
You know what- I discovered Mark a looong time ago back when comcast was still affordable. Found him on OnDemand. I have to say I still love Mark. My artistic abilities have become much better not necessary because of his tutorials but because he gives me hope. I guess I figure hey if mark is still around then I might have a good time slot in here too. I hope to someday showcase my work! Thank you Mark(although you mot likely wont read this.) You are one of the reasons that I am going to pursue art in college this year!
I'm so thrilled you did a Mermaid video, I love drawing them. I guess I was hoping for more of a focus on the tail... Things like, how long to make it before it's just... too long and just how curvy it can be before it's too much. I guess I was thinking more guideline oriented. Perhaps next time? :)
'crilley-cues'. Totally going to call them that now XD This was really useful, because the scale thing can be applied to lizard-type creatures too, and I'd been looking for help on that for ages! Also, I love how much you think we hate time lapse.
You can usually get them at an art supply store. I know I got mine at a Michaels, but I don't know if you're from a different country or not. You can also order them online, but you probably can't get a black Prismacolor on its own.
i just love your videos! i couldn't draw well until i started to watch your videos. Now every1 wants me to draw somthing to them ^^. i made my own style, now i'm drawing manga... rlly thank you!!!!
This was a great video, I'm so glad I found it. I do a lot of sewing and embroidery, and my daughter has been wanting me to embroider her a picture for her room. She's really into mermaids right now so I'm going to embroider an underwater scene with a mermaid. However, I have to draw the picture before I can stitch it and I've never tried to draw a mermaid before, your video was so helpful. Thank you very much.

I think the way you time lapsed the fish tale was perfect because I could still see the way it took shape. Time lapses are good for that reason

Just wondering, but how do you come up with a character design for your graphic novels?
I really liked this channel on youtube, it's really cool, I learned how to draw many drawings because of it.
