Thanks for watching!! A simple comment or thumbs up really helps our channel. Even if you have nothing to say if you just say "This comment is for RUclips" it helps our channel more than you think. Thanks everyone!!
Thanks for all your hard work! We prefer TSD Open Road because we do not unhook to fuel up. It is time saving to be able to pull into the truck lane, fuel up and head out. No going into the store with a cc simple fueling and on our way. We mostly boondock when traveling so we do not unhook until we get to our final destination. Gas buddy, in our experience, does not show big rig friendly options. We are happy with the savings we get from TSD. Looking forward to future videos.
Yup, I fully understand. If we didn't want to unhook it would be a different story for sure. OR if maybe we were in a Class A again. For people like us that that don't tend to travel farther than a tank of fuel will get us before staying in a spot and unhooking we have options for sure. Thanks for watching and following along. Have a great weekend!!
Thanks for the detailed info. Very helpful. You probably already know this, but in comparison to your Discover card offering 3% on fuel rewards, the Costco Visa gives 4% at any station on fuel and USAA has a no annual fee card that gives 5% up to $3000 in purchases for fuel. Just a heads up in case you or anyone was interested. Thanks again.
Dave, as you know, we are big fans of the TSD card because with our MH I like to fuel up and go. I wouldn't even attempt trying to get into some of those smaller stations with the toad hooked up behind us. With that said, don't forget to add in the fees associated with the TSD card to make it an equal comparison. TSD always charges either .40 or .65 (depending upon the station) plus you need to add in an additional 10% of the discounted price, so your example with the T/A will actually cost you more than you described.
I agree, for most people with a Class A the TSD will probably be best. When we did the Class A thing we actually used smaller local stations at least 80% of the time but we were not using any fuel discount programs at that time and the smaller stations mostly always had the lowest prices and with a little planning we never put ourselves into bad situations luckily. Good points on the additional cost with the TSD Card. I have not used ours yet so I have not experienced them yet but I will withing a week or so as I try it for the first time. Of course, there will be a video of that LOL!! Thanks for chiming in.
Hey there my bearded brother. We have been on the road full time since Nov 2022 and I have fallen in love with the TSD card, especially T/A truck stops. I routinely save $1 or more per gallon! My truck holds 74 gallons. I will have to check out the upside app though. Great video and safe travels.
It does look like theT&A stations have the best prices so far. If you try out the Upside app check back and let us know what you think. Have a great week.
Here is another option Dave, instead of doing the "Round Trip", stop on your way by the T/A-Petro Truck Stop or whatever Truck Stop that you can use the Open Roads TSD Card. To use the TDS Card, you have to go thru the Big Truck Lanes, not the Car Lanes.
Absolutely, that would be another way I could compare. In this case it still would have been less expensive with the upside app but I get what you are saying. And I'm not sure we will be going that way when we depart. I will take that into consideration on my next report, thanks for the idea.
I do hotshot trucking and rv full time and have other fuel cards to use. TSD is the cheapest price out there. TA’s are going to be your cheapest price mostly. TSD open road for rvers is fantastic. Sorry I did t get to meet you guys at Destin west this year. I was out working. I do keep in touch with “ buffalo mike” also met a group in the new horizons booth at the Tampa show who knows you guys. Thanks for the great videos and keep up the great work.
Good info on the TSD card, thanks. It's really to bad we didn't get to meet you while we were in Florida but I bet we will bump into each other at some point, it really IS a small world. Good ol Mike, he's a great guy, we enjoyed our time with those to a lot. And again, thanks for taking time to watch and leave a comment and be safe.
Dave, looks like an interesting comparable to do, but thank goodness you wouldn’t rely on me because I hate doing math 🤪, but I’ll be following along 😁👍
I would love to know if you can use both at the same time. I use Upside right now and Gasbuddy but was looking at the OpenRoads card. I know that on Upside sometimes you see truck stops and they have a discount and that it is based off a credit card. I am trying to figure out if you can put the OpenRoads card in the Upside app and use it along side. Just need to keep in mind to change it when your not fueling up at truck stops that are covered by Open Roads to go back to your regular credit card in the app after your done. Great information by the way and thanks for being the guinea pig on this one :)

LOL,,, glad you enjoyed it and don't worry, I'll do the math for you but you may want to check my work.

Hmm, I guess thats a good question. I don't know if I have seen truck stops show up on the Upside app I guess, not that is ringing a bell at least.
Hopefully, BP buying out T/A doesn't foul up a good thing.

Thank you!!
