You should mute or lower the high frequencies on the backing vocal. It's distracting when you're trying to sing the song the way you want and you can hear the consonants of the backup vocalist coming in at a different time than you.

This is a nice Bossa Nova version of this popular song. However, I much prefer the Frank Sinatra version as there's more of a swing to it and I love the Big Band sound anyway.
