  • The DUDE V2 is designed to achieve the classic Dumble style overdrive sounds and feel. From Robben Ford to Larry Carlton to scorching gain, it is all there.
In this episode of Tone Teaser we'll cover the following tunes with the Dude V2 pedal in full action:
SUNSHINE OF YOUR LOVE (Cream) - Eric Clapton’s Cream tone is a challenge for pedals. Very pronounced attack with warm distortion and a lot of dynamic range. Well, the Dude does it in a second. Just go with the Ratio (Dry/Wet Gain mix) over noon and tweak Treble to adapt it to the voice of your pickups.
HELLS BELLS (AD/DC) - for a convincing early 80s AC/DC tone put the Ratio at 70%, brighten the humbuckers voice with some Treble boost and raise the Deep at the same level. Deep boosts the low-end as we could go seamlessly from a 1x12” cabinet to a 4x12” cab.
KID CHARLEMAGNE (Steely Dan) - Larry Charlton’s soloing tone is a sneaky combination of saturation, volume, eq and good use of the dynamic range. To reach the warm sound with that thick jazzy attack, you can push the Level, Treble and Deep at approx. 60-70% and the play with the Ratio between 10 and 12 o’clock.
LIFE IN THE FAST LANE (Eagles) - Joe Walsh was a master in finding good sounds for his master riffs. This “broken-radio” kind of tone is an example. Cut the low-end with Deep and push Treble to the maximum. Push the Level in front of a good amp and you won’t need more than a third of the gain of this pedal to get this.

I play mostly clean through a Mesa Fillmore 25 and a Cali76, but looking for different tone options for soloing...your "Kid Charlemagne" solo probably just sold me on getting one of these babies...VERY nicely done.

Larry Carlton's FAMOUS solo tone. Infamous means famous for the wrong reasons.

The Kid Charlemagne solo was played on a Fender Tweed Deluxe, not a Dumble.

Nice demo, what amp is the pedal going into?

Hi Mark, in this case I used a Kemper with the Dude straight before the amp. I used a very nice profile of a Vox AC30 mic'ed with a Royer 121. No saturation added, just the clean sound, a warm clean tone to be more precise. A little reverb and delay has been added in post on the tracks depending on the song.
