I live in Biloxi, went through Katrina but went way north. Came back to not much. It is 2022 and you can still see damage and empty land.

I had a small Construction company before Katrina and i lived in Laplace La outside of NOLA but i grew up in Metairie with it attached to NOLA so after Katrina i had phone calls forever from people i knew to see their houses and businesses plus i had contractors calling me as well! I road around NOLA and the North Shore of Lake Pontchartrain and the things i saw were incredible! From dead bodies to boats stuck in the upstairs of a home. The bridge crossing the lake with parts of it down in the water! Somethings will never be forgotten and i pray we never see anything like it again!

Awesome coverage. I have lived in Biloxi for 74 years. It was a devastating storm. I could step out my door and throw a rock and hit highway 90 where the beaches are. We also had a devastating one back in 1969. Hurricane Camille. 200 mile an hour winds and 30 foot storm surge.
Thank you for your visit and great coverage.🙏 ❤ 😊 🇺🇲

Nice to see something covering Mississippi. New Orleans got all the coverage. I remember some lady calling it, this landmass. I live a little north in McComb and at the time was working for a power line right of way maintenance company. We worked 7 days a week, 130 hrs or something like that for 6-7 weeks getting the power back on in 4 counties. We were beat. I litterly put a chainsaw in thousands of trees of all sizes. I loaded the back of my bucket truck with coolers full of ice and water donated by Coke and Budweiser to give to the people in rural areas who's water wells were not working due to no electricity. There were lots of very grateful people. Very proud to have been a part of it.

Just imagine how much concrete and steel that was in that bridge and how much it weighed, just to be tossed around like a little child throwing a tantrum throws his/her toys, and how much energy and manpower it took to retrieve that mess out of the bay. Also, just imagine the size of the landfill pile all of that crap made! People are always saying "save the environment", and God allowed the planet to make such a mess!
Cat 5 hurricanes...like cat 5 tornadoes... are truly "the finger of God".

It was about a Category 2 when it made Landfall, but because of the size and the strength it had out at Sea, it was too late.

@boogitybear2283 not when it hit New Orleans! It was a 4 when it took down the levies and pretty much smashed the city and everything around the city! I've been through Katrina and Ida and both were storms I never want to see again!

@@williamoleschoolarendt7016All three of you are wrong. Katrina was a powerful Cat 3 when it made landfall.

What a tragedy this storm was for the Coast. I’m sorry you all got robbed of media Coverage because of New Orleans. I hate that city. It’s definitely night versus day when comparing the two.

The crazy part is that Katrina was only a cat. 3 when it hit. Had it been a 5, there would've likely been nothing left standing from Biloxi to New Orleans.

@3:05 was the old Treasure Bay Casino. I'd forgotten how quiet it was down on the beach after Katrina hit.
