- Trailer for the newest book by Reel History host Jared Frederick!
His comrades in Easy Company called him “Killer.” No paratrooper in the legendary “Band of Brothers” was more enigmatic than Ronald Speirs. But who was the real Speirs? :) The cigarette box at the end. "No thanks Spiers. I'll just be on my way".
I spent the Christmas Holidays in Bastogne with a dearly departed friend. Together, we hiked to Foy, the German cemetary at Recogne, and jumped into Bois Jacques foxholes, where the silence was so loud that it roared. it's in his honor that I'll be buying your book, for the spirit of Ronald Speirs was his favorite. Thanks for your research and your hard work in assembling this book.
Thank you. Hope I can sign it for you someday.
Ronald "Spandau Ballet" Speirs fought in ww2 like a speed runner doing what needed to be done with maximum proficiency leading with courage and then just blowing past anything else.
We think you will enjoy the book!
Trailer looks fantastic! He was such a badass in Band of Brothers. Will definitely be reading this book. Congrats!
Just finished this GREAT book today. Spiers, thrice wounded, combat jumps in Europe and Korea, who knows what kind of stuff behind the scenes in Vietnam, just, wow. How sad that he did not actually sit down and tell his story before he passed away. In the dictionary next to the word " badass" they should have his photograph.
oh man. I definitely need to order this. I finally just got your other book Hang Tough in the mail last week.
That last shot is SOOO GOOD! Congratulations on the new book - thoroughly enjoyed reading through Hang Tough, can't wait to add this one to my collection soon.
My wife bought me this book for my birthday in January. I’ve read it three times already; I just keep going back to it. Very well done, I like the attempt to fill in the gaps of direct documentation of Speirs with indirect documentation. To borrow from the film trailer imagery here, by looking at the greater situation and context around Speirs from a bunch of different eyes, we see him begin to emerge from the mist of history more clearly.
Keep up the great work.
Lucky Strike and a Thompson. Such a great touch!!! BOBNerd level 10!!! Taking a dear friend to visit Gettysburg for his first time next week. I now know what I’ll be reading in the copilot’s chair! Good on ya Jared!
Be sure to stop at the Gettysburg Museum of History to meet my co-author, Erik!
@@ReelHistory every time! My son just graduated from Gettysburg. We’ve been a regular at the museum for the last four years! And the Dick Winters collection is at the top of my traveling companions list. If he just gets to see that he’ll be happy
Congrats Jared. Will have to give this a look when it comes out next month.
A legend emerges
YESSIIRRRRRRRR WOOOOOOOOO
I’m in for a copy. Love your stuff.
Interesting book by the looks of it. I assume readers get a history of D (Dog) Coy/506th, before he took over Easy? Always interested in reading around the more famous stories we're already familiar with, and I enjoyed Don Burgett's books of his time in A Coy/506th. According to Amazon, the Kindle edition will be released on my birthday, although I prefer books in paperback format. Thanks for the advance notice and best of luck with it, Jared!
The book is heavily focused on his exploits in Dog Company.
@@ReelHistory - it's on my shopping list!
Two questions....
Was that you at 0:25?
Do people hold the magazine like that when firing a full auto Thompson? 1:36
Comment: Congratulations on the new book!
Yep! Both of us actually, and yes I can speak from experience that the magazine makes a great grip, especially when the magazine is having feed issues. P.s. Speirs is portrayed by the one and only Chuck!
@@ReelHistory Thanks....ahhhh I see Chuck very clearly at 1:06. Go Chuck! You guys are looking good.
@@thedude1316 Rah, Yut, Kill! I'm gathering excellent content for my upcoming channel. Glad you enjoyed this video, and I know you'll thoroughly enjoy this book.
Just decided to watch this again out of nowhere - and I can't believe I missed out on seeing Andy playing a part the first time I viewed this!
I was so in character that you can't tell it's me haha
Congratulations on writing the book. Look forward to reading it.
Thank you!
Nice work! Can't wait for the book.
Wwoooooaaaaahhh, the trailer is amazing guys, thats the best book promo I've ever seen, hope Tom Hanks is watching this ;) can't wait for the kindle book, you know the import taxes and all makes it easier to buy it on kindle, but oh boy I would love to have an autographed copy of it, well, maybe next time on Gettysburg, meanwhile the E-book
Andrew here, they are usually for sale in (The Gettysburg Museum of History) Erik's museum if you happen to stop by. He would happily sign it for you, and Jared doesn't mind making arrangements to sign it as well.
I remember my days in the Marine corps, you become so close with those in your platoon. The bond is strong as your own family.
I want it
Read it. Definitely worth the effort. It’s available on Audible
Coming to Gettysburg end of May. Any chance the museum will have some signed copies for sale?
PS: an experienced trooper like Speirs wouldn't run with his finger on the trigger.... ;-P
I'm glad you brought that up! We did a fair amount of research and discussion about trigger discipline while making this and found that many ww2 combat veterans had a different version of trigger discipline than what we would consider correct today. Many old photographs and even first hand accounts show fingers in trigger wells.
@@ReelHistory Maybe my experience is more myopic. My great uncles were WWII vets and very concerned about it, however is a citizen-soldier army that grew 15x in less than five years, training and procedures will vary.
@@ReelHistory there exists- I’m guessing you have seen it - a great old photo of none other than Saint John M Browning with his boogerhook on the switch and he doesn’t look to be all that concerned. Times and techniques change. That said, I’ll follow Col. Cooper’s the 4 rules!
ruclips.net/video/MjMSVT2_2nM/видео.html
This required every ounce of my discipline to NOT follow proper trigger discipline😂
Take my money!
Looks good
Will have to check it out!
Thanks!
I'll buy anything you write, Jared! I've so come to trust your voice. Particularly enthused to learn more of his exploits with Dog Co. Write on : )
Thank you!
Next month on Amazon. 5/10/22
