- Building on the successful Joint Federal-State Task Force on Electric Transmission, established in June 2021 and ended in February 2024, FERC is continuing its important cooperation and partnership with the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) on cross-jurisdictional issues relevant to FERC and state utility commissions.
The new Federal and State Current Issues Collaborative will focus on electricity sector issues of common interest to FERC and NARUC. While the initial Task Force e focused solely on transmission issues, the new Collaborative will provide a venue for federal and state regulators to share perspectives, increase understanding, and, where appropriate, identify potential solutions regarding challenges and coordination on a broad range of matters that impact specific state and federal regulatory jurisdiction.
FERC announced the new Collaborative in March 2024 in Docket No. AD24-7-000. The Collaborative is comprised of all five FERC Commissioners and 10 state commissioner representatives, nominated by NARUC and affirmed by FERC. The Collaborative will convene for multiple formal meetings annually, which will be open to the public for listening and observing and will be on the record. All FERC issuances related to the Collaborative, as well as submissions from NARUC and interested parties related to the Collaborative, will be included in the Collaborative docket and available on FERC’s website via eLibrary.
