- Jeff Skinner signed a one-year $3 million contract to join the Edmonton OIlers after having the remainder of his contract bought out by the Buffalo Sabres. He joined the media for the first time as a member of the Oilers to chat about his decision to sign in Edmonton, playing with McDavid and Draisaitl, and more.

Was adding Jeff Skinner in free agency a good move for the Oilers at his $3m cap?
Yes.
Very.
No idea
Yes, the guy can score.
If he plays top line, he'll score 40+ goals with McDavid. Hymans totals will drop a bit but adding a pure scorer like Skinner is something McDavid has never had.
Excited to see Skinner on this team. The Oilers did a good job adding interesting players without spending a lot on long deals.
Welcome to Edmonton🎉 Jeff!!! Can't wait to see you in Orange and blue.
Great deal for Oilers. Besides Hyman and occasionally Kane, they haven't had a high end finisher to pair with the playmaking of 97 and 29. And Skinner's lack of playoff experience isn't an issue with the overall experience level of the Oilers room at this point. I expect Skinner will bring enthusiasm and lots of goals
Habs fan here, this was a huge signing for the Oilers. He's going to help you greatly in the playoffs, might be what you need to get over the hump.
Very good pick up for the oil
really solid pick up, glad skinner chose to sign with edmonton. welcome jeff skinner.
Welcome to the Oilers
Welcome to Oil Country 💪
We’re happy to have you 👍
The Oilers will win the Pacific Division next season.
I hope we don’t but I do think this Oilers team will win the President’s Trophy. There is no better team than them as of right now. I don’t want the PT due to the curse associated with it in the playoffs.
His point production will double mark my word
Absolutely!!!
Veteran experience and depth never hurts a team.
The oldest and deepest Oilers team in probably 20 years and it took them two goals from the Cup.
The real question is do they do the boring thing (J. Skinner, S. Skinner) OR do they give Jeff "Skinner" and Stuart gets "Sssssskinner".
The copper(head) in their logo throws me off sometimes.
Because one of them is a goalie I’m not sure they will do J.Skinner 🤔. I wonder if they will now
I didn’t love arvidsson deal but the skinner pick up pretty much nullifies any negative that came with the former. Can’t wait to see what we will see out of a guy like Jeff who’s played 1000+ in his first run in the post season
I think if Arvidsson can stay healthy he'll be a great addition. That's a big IF though.
Man our forward depth is absolutely unreal this year. We want the cup!! ❤
I know right! This is insane!!! Go Oilers Go!!
i hated watching this guys when the Oilers played Carolina, so i am happy to see him join to the Oilers !!!
H e played for Buffalo, not Carolina.
@@kingdavid7571 he played for Carolina before Buffalo
really proud as an oilers fan that mcdavid and drai have drawn good players to edmonton, rather than just jumping ship to a good team
Welcome to E-Town
Minimum 60 pts next year
Minimum?
Depends on who he plays with.
Guy's extremely inconsistent.
Had a great rookie year, has had one 40 goal season.
And given time by both Buffalo and Carolina to show he was that guy.
Sometimes, sometimes not.
I don't see him coming close to what Hyman did, and I don't see him playing anywhere close to the minutes he had in Buffalo either.
He's not a top line player for them, and he won't always be a second line guy either.
Bouncing between the second and third seems appropriate.
He's never been an overly defensive guy, so having him out there with a more responsible forward like Nuge might be a good fit. Nuge-Drai-Skinner sounds good to me. Following up Arvidsson-McDavid-Hyman for a serious 1A/1B punch.
This will allow RNH to center the 3rd line I hope.
Who made this deal come together if they don't have a GM?
And did he call Ryan Nuge, Daniel? Wasn't sure what that cut was..
Jeff Jackson is standing in and making these deals as the interim GM. And the name that popped up is the name of a reporter that is on the call, similar name to Nuge.
It's just reporter Daniel Nugent-Bowman on the conference call. Nothing to do with RNH.
What about Evander Kane? I've never heard anything about him yet
No word on if he will require surgery for his injury. If he does, the Oilers will LTIR him until he's healthy (or likely pull a vegas). Rumor is he doesn't want to waive his NMC for a trade, so if the Oilers have to move players out to become cap compliant it's probably Mcleod / Ceci.
@@Kjell777Iverson Or one can hope its Nurse. you could get a guy in for half his price to do the same or better job than him.
Year off on LTIR, ready for next year's playoffs, just like other teams
40 goal season?
He's done it before.
If he does it in Edmonton, it'll be this season.
Guy has a REALLY weird habit of his first year with a team being his best.
He’s a finisher and with Drais feeding him the puck he could get 50 and that’s not even a stretch
Buffalo misses him already
Only the females. Care more about being a good hockey player more than a cute smile.
Pop Quiz? Which Skinner on the Oilers has scored more points in the playoffs during their career?
They got rid of Soupy Campbell.
