Chris, I was absolutely memorized watching you from start to finish, Completely enjoyed your use of hard tools. It is almost a lost art. Thank you for the presentation. Blessings
Glad you enjoyed it
Great video, nice bowl! Love the whale back saw and the carving bench! Thanks for your channel!
Thank you very much!
HA!!!! no music or talking.....just hammering away. You have a great sense of humor.
Thanks 👍
I was so intrigued by the use of only ha nd powered tools. He has so much talent. Also thank you for the no talking and no music. I found that the sound of the tools alone was so relaxing.
So glad you enjoyed it!
I watched this with my husband th8s morning and now I'm cleaning house to it. Its just satisfying to hear the sounds of someone crafting something that's not drowned out by talking and music.
Beautiful bowl by the way. My husband's on the search for some aged wood so he can make one for me. 😁
Thanks and good luck with the bowl!

I agree Darlene. I like to watch a wood carving video that hasn't been turned into a music video. Kind of distracting. Some of the music choices are awful too.
You also need all the cool tools as well.
I really enjoy watching a craftsman work their magic on a piece of log and turn it into a beautiful useful bowl.
Thanks!
masterpiece of a video, just pure craftsmanship and not even wasting any wood, bravo
Thank you!
Such a joy watching good use of sharp tools. Beautiful work. Thank you.
Thank you very much!
Just so you know, a 'real enthusiast' watches every stroke of the gouge and listens to every strike of the mallet! Great video! Much obliged!
Thanks!
Amazing work, Chris! Thanks for uploading a long video like this, it's so nice to see all the process and the details. It would be nice too if you post more videos like this one.
Again, amazing work and video! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks and will do!

Chris is the kind of person who doesn't look for easy ways to create a masterpiece.
WELL SAID!
It is wonderful to see someone who has this level and skill with their tools and who takes care of them with such reverence! I also love the look and practicality of manual tools. Every tool has a specific purpose. Just like Japanese woodworkers, the skill is top notch! Beautiful work and dedication! God Bless!
Thank you!
Your talented carving is award winning. I would be thrilled to have this piece in my collection. I found watching this program was very relaxing. I will watch again.
Thank you. I am releasing a new video shortly.
Love it and the video with all Natural sounds no annoying music. Well done. The way you took the bark off taking your time reminded me when as a child going deer hunting and skinning the deer you did it slow and easy and said a prayer before you shot it for the food it gave you.
Thanks!
I have been looking for a video like this for ages. Thank you for giving the names of the tools
Glad to help
Really nice video, thanks for sharing your work! It's cool to see the beginning stages and not just cut straight to chisels like other videos I've seen. Really interesting how you handle such a huge heavy project.
Thanks!
Big project, great carving, beautiful wood.
Thank you!
Excellent! You carved out a whole bowl in about the same time it takes me to change my oil. Thank you for sharing. Have a blessed day.
Thanks! 👍🏻
I have that same Brookstone mallet - I bought it over 50 years ago. Spectacular tool! You do good work!
Thanks 👍
hey man, love how interactive you are with your comment section. Love the chicago bears hat!!!
DA BEARS!!
What an amazing job you have done from woe to go ...absolutely brilliant ,,,I am in awe of you patience and hard work to achieve what you did without power tools. regards Mike
Thank you so much!
Old school craftmanship! Love it! One of my favorite video I've seen in a while>
Thanks!
Awesome video! I wish I could do work like this. The knowledge and patience needed is underrated, well done. Sharp ass tools can’t hurt the process. Thanks man
You are most welcome!
That wood is something else! Great piece!
Thanks!
The sculpture of the grain is reminiscent of the sandstone cliffs along some of the rivers in Moab. Fantastic work Chris. More videos please.
Thanks!
Incredible work. Love how your excellent craftsmanship brings out the beauty of the wood! Well Done! God Bless!
Thank you very much!
fantastic workshop, fantastic tools, fantastic video, fantastic everything, congratulations

Worthwhile video of true hand carving without the needles use of electricity! Very interesting, you are an incredible artist, stay well!
Thanks and the same to you!
"I don't have to use this saw, but I WANT TO!" I felt that in my bones.
😄💪
Beautiful! So nice that you left the tool marks 🐝🤗❤️
Thanks. They look like a facetted diamond!
@@ChopWithChris They do! So cool…🐝🤗❤️
It would be nice to see a video on how you keep all of your different tools sharp.
Good idea!
That wood good. Saws!
It sure is!
I always look forward to my favorite stage of work, when you start the final "combing" phase of the workpiece ... Amazingly beautiful wood! Amazing job! Thank you, Chris!!

Wow. Beautiful job!!!!!

Lovely work and video! Thank you!

Felicitaciones!!!
Gracias!
Thanks for sharing. I carved a bowl similar to this one using a chain saw, and other power tools. It was a quick process, the results were phenomenal.
Nicely done.
I love watching your video's Chris! This one is another masterpiece!
Thank you very much!
Just stumbled onto your channel looking for unintentional triggers for ASMR. I started this video early this morning, but fell asleep probably halfway through. Thank you for uploading these! And your woodwork is awesome!
Thanks! I’m working on another one now!

Beautiful job! Thank you for sharing your process with us.😊
You are so welcome!
Like that you showed the whole process. Awesome bowl. Love to make one of these. It would be great to know the measurements of the bowl and the different types of blades you used. Great job.
Thanks. This bowl was a gift for a friend so I don’t have the measurements.
If someone had introduced this to me when i was young I would have taken an interest in it for sure. I like chopping wood just for the sake of it.
👍🏻💪
Absolutely love your work, I just wish I had found your channel sooner! I’m autistic and the sound of every stroke just put me at ease. Thank you for sharing your art and talent!
Welcome to my channel and thanks so much for the kind comments!
Hello Sir, it is very relaxing to watch you carve these unique bowls using only hand tools.
A question I have is if you have ever worked with burls? I know they are rare to find however these unusual growths make for brilliant results.
I have always wanted to and hope to find a good one some day.
The finished bowl is bee-u-tee-ful! But I like the chiseled look also, inside and outside. Thank you.
Thanks for the compliment and you are most welcome!

Chris, when you were removing the bark, I was thinking to myself how satisfying it was, then those very words appeared on the screen. ( : Catalpas are one of my favorite trees.
😄👍🏻
Great work! That catalpa looks like it carves wonderfully. I guess it was pretty green?
Yep! Carves great and it was very green!
Looks band I like the carve marks on the side. Thank you!

Both beautiful and utilitarian, Chris. Extremely well done. You must have arms and hands like steel cables.
Ha! I wish!
I enjoyed watching this video 👌👌👌👌👌❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thanks!
Great way to keep in shape
Absolutely!
Complimenti a Lei!!!
Grazie!
Also it makes you realize how much respect the shipbuilders and carpenters of the pre-electric era deserve.
No doubt!
It makes u realize

Que material es que tipo de madera
Love your ball bat ! Ok, I give up ! That big saw that looks like a meat clever, never seen one ? Is it a custom built by yourself? Looks like it definitely came from an old saw blade ? Your shop and tools are killin me smalls ! 👍
It’s a tool paradise! Walking Dead sent me the bat because of a zombie carving I did. The big saw is called a Japanese Whaleback Saw. The think y’all blade ensures a straight rip.
better than an netflix evening😎
Thanks! New video coming soon!

Very nice bowl Chris! Haven’t carved catalpa yet, would you seek it out again or stick with the more common cherry / walnut / maple?
I'm definitely going to carve more of this!

AWESOME work. Love the old style wood working. Great job 👍. Like to do a sticker swap with you to put on my board in my work shop.
Thanks and sounds good. Email me your address and I will send.
@@ChopWithChris sent. Thank you
muy lindo felicitaciones
😄👍🏻
I love doing good work by hand always have. I'm curious what type of wood you're using in this project here
Thanks! The wood is Catalpa.
I've made and seen many people carve bowls like this. Great work. Love your shop, your very talented. My inspiration for the bowls I carve, much like what your carving often are inspired by native american indian bowls mixed with reading and working with the grain to create a complementary flow to the shape. Good job on the vidio ,very well done. Beautiful shape to the bowl. Thanks,Noah. Ps. Do you ever use power tools?
Thank you! I never use power tools for my woodworking projects. Electricity is overrated!
