"But all my Harley friends will make fun of me!" Lol. Rough, dude. You dont have to convince me! Great demo! Imagine one of your loved ones having to come to the morgue and identify your shredded body. That's an image they will never get out of their head. I can't think of a better reason than that.
even falling off a bicycle seriously sucks...let alone crashing a motorcycle...but it seems a lot of people need to touch the stove to realize it's hot. instagram.com/motojitsuclub/
I remember a specific TV commercial about insurance and it said "people do dumb things..." yeah, they do indeed. And not wearing proper gear when riding is definitely a dumb thing to do!! So far, from what i can see, it seems that most riders not wearing protected gear are older folks on Harleys !! As a new rider out there, not once have i taken my bike out without my full gear, and i sure will keep this good habit. And to make sure i'm well protected on very hot days, i've bought a full body armor last week to wear instead of my motorcycle jacket. I also adjusted my shifter lever so that i could use motocross boots instead of regular motorcycle footwear even when riding on pavement roads & hwys. Oh and my helmet IS a fullface !! Years ago, i remember seeing riders not wearing any helmet at all in a State... New Mexico i think. Is it still like that... not mandatory to wear an helmet in some States !?
I’m all for free choice, but I choose to wear helmet, gloves, jacket, pants, motocross boots. For many years I didn’t. Nowadays I even wear protective gear while mountain biking and dirt jumping.
Tearing the meat and skin off of that one finger is a good example of cuffing , what happens when you have a ring on your finger and the ring catches on something and all the weight of your body pulls the skin off. Generally it doesn't pull off so clean. And you can bet there will be more blood coming out of your finger than you knew about.
In 1977, I was 6 years old and I started riding a 1976 moped. Dad would start it up by pedalling it to start it and then I would be sat on it with my feet only reaching the cross frame. He then would take it off of the stand and hold onto it for balance until I cranked on the gas and took off. No helmet. No gloves. No long pants. Once and only once I wiped out AND as a small child, to lift the bike off of me, I grabbed the hot exhaust pipe and well got an ouchy. Dad lifted the bike off of me and got my hand wrapped up and off I went again. When I was older, my brother got me riding his dirt bikes. Ah the days gone by. Was that dangerous? Hell yes. Should it be like that now? Hell no lol wear protective gear but man those were the good Ole days. 🎉
The tan lines on my wrists are testament of how much I agree with you on the need for gloves, as a First Responder I can assure everyone safety gear save lives!
@@onerider808 Tan lines come while wearing gloves and a armored leather vest as many riders do. I most often ride with a jacket, however in the summer regardless of temp, I will also wear a vest.
