- On Sunday the 13th of March 2022, Dame Shirley opened the BAFTA awards with a spine-tingling rendition of one of her most beloved Bond songs, Diamonds Are Forever. This is the first time Dame Shirley had appeared live on the British stage since 2019 (When she last sang with Alfie Boe and Michael Ball). At 85 years young, she proved that she HAS STILL GOT IT! She demonstrated such amazing control over her voice and showed that she still has her upper register intact! This performance is truly such a treat. Please enjoy!

How incredible was that?! The average person doesn’t even live to the age of 85 let alone show up at the Royal Albert Hall looking gorgeous and perform at nearly the top of their game and win themselves a standing ovation. She is an icon.

Many people loose it long before. There is no exact age when this happens. But for 85 Shirley did it very well. It`s not the same than 50 years ago. But for her age it is great. No matter what some weak guys write here in their comments. They should remember that 85 procent are dead with 85.
You only lose your voice when you sing the way they do today with all the screaming. She doesn't scream when she sings.

I love Dame Shirley Bassey. There is one thing that I noticed in this performance... her vocal range is lower but she held her notes longer. I thought the change-up was just stunning.
Flaws show a performance is live and real. Rather have that than performances which are autotuned to death or, even worse, lip synched.

Listen to Tom Jones, he is 82 and still sings damn good. It's an exception, but not impossible. You need good vocal technique and vocal hygiene, and a good physical fitness level.

To hear that voice again after several years of the pandemic, just as stellar and perfect as it always has been is quite emotional. With everything that’s happened and at aged 85, that voice has remained intact. What an absolute privilege to hear it again.

I grew up in the 70's with my parents listening to Shirley Bassey. I appreciated her because I loved music but now in my 50s's having rediscovered her on YT. OMG! I'm sorry but nobody can touch her. Vocals, emotion, storytelling and connection with her audience is unparalled. She is a masterclass in performance.

and as she waited to go on maybe reflecting upon the nights long ago in this hall of halls where she gave 2 shows a night in later years was performing for 6 consecutive nights 1.5 hours per performance
She still has those iconic incredibly rich, resonant and vibrant belts. Her voice is truly a diamond, with barely any change over the decades.

The Welsh produce amazing singers! Tom Jones and Dame Shirley Bassey are truly amazing and they can still belt out a song when others can barely manage a whisper. Shirley did a phenomenal job here. I am in awe.
About 4 years ago Sir Tom performed a concert where I was working for the summer and I got to hear it.
His voice is still jaw dropping and as all of the stars from his generation, he doesn't need any extra help from technology. He can actually sing

As a boy I first saw her on that stage, giving 2 concerts in one evening and I saw the first show and was captivated. I could not have known I would see her `live` many times until the last tour at Wembley Arena 2006 when she sang for over 1.5 hours and was magnificent. The 1st occasion was 1972...... 50 years ago
Had the privilege of seeing Shirley at nine performances and even had a sneaky kiss for presenting a bouquet of flowers when I was in the front rtow, this performace was out of the ball park she is a master of her profession and an icon like no other.. love you Shirl.. (sorry Shirley)..lol

When I was a kid in NYC, I remember purchasing this beautiful & classy lady’s albums in the USA 🇺🇸 and later 2 cds 💿 like “Live at Carnegie Hall”” because she covered many of the popular songs of the day.
And so, I got tickets to go see her in Westbury, L.I. USA 🇺🇸 that’s when I would learn that she was British, as big as the Beatles and crown a Dame by the Queen. She is an Icon. The Brits treat their veteran singers/artist, so much better than we do in America. Basically, an Artist with longevity like Diana Ross, Dionne Warwick, Gladys Knight, etc often have to tour overseas to make money and aren’t currently sign to any record label. We have yet to acknowledge that “Diamonds are forever..”
