Journalist's Trip to Tibet Shows China's Control

  • “It's inexorably changing Tibetan culture and could potentially be wiping it away.”
For China, showcasing Tibetans singing the Communist Party’s praises helps affirm its legitimacy to rule the region, something that’s weighed on Beijing’s ties with the West since a failed uprising in 1959 forced the Dalai Lama to flee and set up a government-in-exile in northern Indian.
Tibet is crucial to Beijing for strategic purposes. Its mountainous terrain abuts a 4,000-kilometer (2,500-mile) border with countries including India, Nepal and Myanmar, forming a natural security barrier. Beijing has recently reinforced troops stationed in Tibet as it prepares for a long winter in its high-altitude standoff with India. It’s become more important recently as politicians in the U.S., Europe and India accuse China of using forced labor, detentions and re-education campaigns to assimilate ethnic minorities in its borderlands.
For Xi, the key to snuffing out calls for independence in Tibet and strengthening Communist Party rule is delivering economic growth in one of China’s poorest regions. Since 2016, China has spent more than $11 billion on poverty alleviation efforts in Tibet.

It is wrong to report or say the Chinese government reasserted its control of Tibet in 1950s. The truth is Tibet was invaded and occupied by Communist China in 1959, which lead to the flight of the Tibetan leader, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, to seek political asylum in India. In 1989, the Dalai Lama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for leading the non-violent Tibetan struggle for freedom. The Chinese authorities continue to control Tibet with an iron grip with thousands suffering in prisons. The UNO is a powerless body under control of rogue Chinese and Russian regimes. But truth will prevail.

@@spacegamer_aviation4910 *Are you out of your mind? Are you comparing Chinese oppression over Tibet with American annexation of Hawaii? Both are entirely different scenarios. Atleast USA is a democracy and Hawaii has their own people representing them in Senate, and what Tibet has! Nothing! China is a dictatorship and has no integral development in these areas. Huge buildings or roads can not define the way of life of the common oppressed Tibetans. They have their own religion (CPC is anti-religious), They have their own culture (which is proven to be in danger after 1950s), own lifestyle (CPC is trying to impose the mainstream communist features). Remember the 17 Points Agreement and how China disrupted the peace in disguise of development repeatedly? When will the Tibetans get the right to choose thier representatives in the form of parliamentary government with chosen President and Prime Minister just like the Hawaiians do? Now I hope you understand the difference between Tibet and Hawaii. And stop comparing majorly a small county of 23,000 sqkm to a gigantic and diverse cultural and ethnic land of 1,222,000 sqkm.* *FREE TIBET*

China allows them to practice anything, it is the CCP that changed some spiritual beliefs in Tibetan Buddhism, such as no discrimination towards other religions, Tibet teaches generations to stay away from other religions and close of the region from other religions. Tibetan Buddhism uses humans as religious tools and sacrifices during the Dalai Lama rule, scripts made out of human skin, inks made out of fresh human blood, drum sticks from human bones, buddhist statues with actual human skulls. It is CCP that changed these inhumane acts to a better method of offering. Can you imagine out of 95% of serfs in Tibet, how many were used to make holy scriptures over centuries? The Tibetans that hated Bhutan and conducted 3 invasions, assisted China in killing the Indian King. Tibet is just like past Mongolia, equally inhumane, bloodlusted.

The free consent of Tibetans is important. Tibetan culture is not Chinese.

The funny thing is China has few connection with western world before 1840. It's UK and other western countries that brought their culture, science and lifestyle to China. For example, all the math, science, and art textbooks in China are basically Chinese versions translated from the West. The Chinese education system is westernized which is totally different from some 150 years ago. As well, Chinese clothing is so different from 150 years ago. Government people are all around you. That’s clearly shows that they are hiding behind n only show good thing on camera. Even the Tibetan people want to tell real story to the reporter they can’t say it. Coz they know every where is CCP people. No Freedom. Just show off that they are living good life.

All big countries do the samething. We can only talk about it. Example is America and Puerto Rico, Hawaii and soon Cuba and All USA territories. Having a nation always means the control over a certain area gradually. China doesnt even have as many military bases as most nations around the world. I'm not sticking up for China.

No no Tibet was never part of china. Tibet is no different from the Chinese it’s totally different. China reasserted authority no. China saw the opportunity to keep India at bay by occupying Tibet that is the only reason they are making these settlement to know the where about of the Tibetan people to keep them in control. The rich nomadic traditions of Tibet is now a mere sadness cos of the obligation and authoritarianism

From 1950-1976. Tibet had been destroyed by Mao for sure. But after 1980, Tibetan's life has been well improved. If Tibet had not been part of China since 1950, it will be as messed as India today.

You can be sure, “Tibet is different from the rest of China” for many reasons. 1. Tibet was a sovereign Independent nation which was brutally and unashamedly invaded purely out of greed by communist China. 2. Tibetans have and still can produce truck-loads of documentary proof of it's independent statehood to which China has produced tons of lies that cannot be substantiated. 3. What journalist would not be biased, when China provides them with “oxygen” 5 star accommodation, a massive stage show of life in Tibet and all the “proof” that Tibetans are happy and loyal to China for providing them with meagre life sustenance, when China exports all of Tibet's wealth back to the Han heartland!

It has been said that "The Mills of the gods turn very slow, but that they grind very fine in the finals" Wait, watch, observe and wonder, but
be patient as this unrolls/unfolds phenomenally. It is getting very close for His direct hand involvement now, however subtle or open it
gets Basically what I am saying, is that we are living at a time now that God is starting to intercede with the direction that we are
going. There will be many unprecedented, unpredictable events taking place, like Dominoes, time and time again. It has been a long time since this has happened, but it is high time it did. I have a Bachelor's and a Masters degree in Theology and have studied many religions and their historical patterns. Civilizations have always gone up to a peak and then go down, get refined a bit of dangerous/non-eternal behaviors and choices. Some never get back up to where they were before. This is the lengthy or long-term pattern I have observed.
