- MUNCHIES visits Soul Fire Farm, an Afro-Indigenous centered community farm committed to uprooting racism and seeding sovereignty in the food system in upstate NY. The team at Soul Fire Farm is devoted to ending food apartheid, the socioeconomic systems in place that discriminate against predominantly Black and Brown communities and make it difficult to source healthy, whole foods. Using ancestral and indigenous growing techniques, Soul Farm Farm not only grows and distributes fresh food to those who need it for free, they teach the next generation of activist-farmers to create their own sustainable farming communities.

Great work on this! Love it, love it, love it. The more supply chains face inevitable disruptions and the more people think artificial production will pull us out of poverty, the more we will need community farmers and regenerative agriculture as standard practice. So appreciative of this video in a time that I began looking at farming internships. Thank you!

@Europa Nostra imagine replying every comment with that same paragraph. You know, your own reality as a scared white man doesn't define racism in the US. Grocery stores in poorer neighbourhoods juste *have* less fresh produce, i don't know if you have ever walked in one, but it's the reality. So what they "just choose not to", getting good homegrown food for free is way better than buying prepackaged or mediocre in-season produce filled with pesticides. It even builds a community, if you actually listened to the video instead of being another white nationalist that's afraid of white ethnic cleanse. Btw stop saying stuff you don't understand is stupid just because you lack the effort to search into it, if anything it makes you look stupid

Both sides of my (white) mom's family were multi-generation farmers. I grew up hearing stories of, and visiting, the ancestral farm. I always knew I had cousins who were living on the farm. I did not grow up in an urban food desert. Different people have different experiences of life. Persons of color often feel they have no options because they have been confined to urban ghettos. I totally understood where she was coming from.

This was excellent. The people who have a problem with the POC thing have to get the ego and their Wetiko in check (look it up). This is excellent for the progression of people whose first experience with farming in America was painful on many levels. That pain remained with MANY hence A LOT of what is going on today in our culture. I refuse to even RESPOND to a negative reply to this. You won't turn what these people are doing into a negative for me. You won't get that power or my energy. To all my People of Color AND our CAUCASIAN allies, STAY FOCUSED. Do not waste energy on people who find fault in such a beautiful thing. Farmers touch SOIL all day, everyday which means they are constantly GROUNDING (look it up if you are not familiar). They are also EATING HEALTHY food. The chances of them being MORE in their right moreso than some of these negatively charged comments is much greater. If you took offense to this, please understand their is something deeper going on inside of you, as for the rest of us who CLEARLY understand how important this movement is, ignore the destractions. Wow, ok so that rundown of history is absurd. Raised bed farming does not 'go back' to the Ovambo, we don't know when they started doing that. We do know the Romans, Ancient Greeks and Mesopotamians did it... far predating the existance of the Ovambo.
Cleopatra was... Macedonian... so European. The organic movement has not 'fed the world', European farming techniques and technology has fed the world - it's not a competition of 'look at what my race has done', what is this nonesense.
