    The non-thinkpad division should be re-named, Lenogo.

      Lol, maybe, like I get it was made to be cheap, but this is reaaaally cheap.

    • @CommodoreFan64
      @CommodoreFan64 5 лет назад +4

      @@LaptopRetrospective I don't mind cheap, long as there is still quality attached to it, and this model does not have it by a long shot. It's the same with phones from Lenovo as the Moto branded ones have way more quality put into them, even the low end Moto e, and C line when compared to the straight Lenovo branded phones.

      Even I don't like or want their ideapad lineup. Lenovo apart from Thinkpad/Legion/Yoga is not very good. I have both lenovo smartphones (A316i and A6020a40) and while the mainboard•PCB is pretty durable (I was a heavy smartphone user), both suffered from LCD/digitizer problem.

      @@CommodoreFan64 so true. Moto seems have more quality than Vibe (former lenovo's android branding) at same price level

    Great review. No matter about flexibility and movement, most of the modern 2019 Notebooks are same cheap constructions

    When it comes to Lenovo, if the product is not of the "Think" genealogy, I wouldn't think of buying it.

      Might be sound advice. If I ever see more of their regular machines I'll be able to say for sure.

      2 years ago I'm almost buying an ideapad, 100/300. Fortunately this plan is abandoned. Now seeking for thinkpad, haswell or at least ivy bridge.

  • @tadeustad
    @tadeustad 5 лет назад +5

    Well, IdeaPads are pretty crappy, but... at least the keyboard layout is less screwed up than in >xx20 Thinkpads :D

    • @LaptopRetrospective

      Haven't seen an IdeaPad yet but I'm not optimistic now.

    • @tadeustad
      @tadeustad 5 лет назад +1

      Technically this B50 is also an IdeaPad, but even crappier, I have 2010 Lenovo G560 (budget business laptop based on Arrandale Pentium + 3 GB of RAM, about 500 USD in 2010), the build quality isn't as bad as this B50, but it's still pretty crappy (I've managed to snap one of the USB ports after a year and short-circuited the motherboard a bit, it somehow managed to work in that condition for about 6 months before it was repaired)

    • @LaptopRetrospective
      @LaptopRetrospective  5 лет назад

      Interesting. I only found one article reference it as one so that's probably why it's technically one.

    Where do you buy/find those laptops? Just eBay or do you have a local shop, or recycling centre?

    • @LaptopRetrospective

      I'm very lucky to have some local people who loan the machines to me for filming. I wouldn't be able to feature all this stuff without their support.

    Could you do a review on an ideapad, please? I was just at Walmart today, and saw two of them.... I know they're nowhere as good as thinkpads, I'm just curious how bad they actually are.

  • @CommodoreFan64
    @CommodoreFan64 5 лет назад +3

    I usually love Lenovo products, but this machine was sure built down to a price point. I guess on a positive note at least the optical drive, HDD, Memory, etc.. are easy to get too with little effort.

    • @LaptopRetrospective
      @LaptopRetrospective  5 лет назад

      Yeah, but the hardware going inside those higher configuration models wouldn't be well protected.

    • @CommodoreFan64
      @CommodoreFan64 5 лет назад +1

      @@LaptopRetrospective I agree with you 100%. I was just trying to find any positive to this laptop, and easy service is a nice thing the way some are made with sealed batteries, HDD/SSD, or the SSD being surface mount soldered onto the board as is the case with a lot of Chromebooks, Lenovo models included.
