@@LaptopRetrospective I don't mind cheap, long as there is still quality attached to it, and this model does not have it by a long shot. It's the same with phones from Lenovo as the Moto branded ones have way more quality put into them, even the low end Moto e, and C line when compared to the straight Lenovo branded phones.
Even I don't like or want their ideapad lineup. Lenovo apart from Thinkpad/Legion/Yoga is not very good. I have both lenovo smartphones (A316i and A6020a40) and while the mainboard•PCB is pretty durable (I was a heavy smartphone user), both suffered from LCD/digitizer problem.
Technically this B50 is also an IdeaPad, but even crappier, I have 2010 Lenovo G560 (budget business laptop based on Arrandale Pentium + 3 GB of RAM, about 500 USD in 2010), the build quality isn't as bad as this B50, but it's still pretty crappy (I've managed to snap one of the USB ports after a year and short-circuited the motherboard a bit, it somehow managed to work in that condition for about 6 months before it was repaired)
Could you do a review on an ideapad, please? I was just at Walmart today, and saw two of them.... I know they're nowhere as good as thinkpads, I'm just curious how bad they actually are.
I usually love Lenovo products, but this machine was sure built down to a price point. I guess on a positive note at least the optical drive, HDD, Memory, etc.. are easy to get too with little effort.
@@LaptopRetrospective I agree with you 100%. I was just trying to find any positive to this laptop, and easy service is a nice thing the way some are made with sealed batteries, HDD/SSD, or the SSD being surface mount soldered onto the board as is the case with a lot of Chromebooks, Lenovo models included.
Yeah, I really messed up. I did the same typo on the title of the video too. My brain just wasn't functioning properly today. Thanks for being a good sport about my screw up.
I have this laptop. My father bought it used 2 years ago for 300 dollars. It works, but it slow. There are cracks around the keyboard. I think he pay to much.
i got 2 for $60 aud or $40 usd no ram or hdd but i have spare. just going to give one to my mum for here birthday to write poems as thats her hobby. May not be the best machine but hella lot better that the windows xp she is using with a 20gb hdd and 500mb ram
I think it should be : i3-4005u @ 1:02 ;)
Ah you might be right. It was the font I was reading from that looked like an S. Whoops.
@@LaptopRetrospective No problem, not a big deal ;)
Thanks for the correction. Much appreciated.
The non-thinkpad division should be re-named, Lenogo.
Lol, maybe, like I get it was made to be cheap, but this is reaaaally cheap.

@@CommodoreFan64 so true. Moto seems have more quality than Vibe (former lenovo's android branding) at same price level
Great review. No matter about flexibility and movement, most of the modern 2019 Notebooks are same cheap constructions
This makes me sad to hear.
@@LaptopRetrospective What do you expect from 300-400 euro hardware?:) Greetings from Germany.
I know, but when you handle a lot of nice machines for a while, then you pick this up...
Thank you for your greetings and comments!
I bought this computer in 2016. Still using it everyday. Never failed me tbh
replaced hdd with sdd in 2018
Glad to hear it has served you well.
Woo another video
Yeppers!
Gasp! Not a Thinkpad?! Just kidding. :) Great video!
Like I said, I kinda wish it was. The chassis needs some strength.
When it comes to Lenovo, if the product is not of the "Think" genealogy, I wouldn't think of buying it.
Might be sound advice. If I ever see more of their regular machines I'll be able to say for sure.
2 years ago I'm almost buying an ideapad, 100/300. Fortunately this plan is abandoned. Now seeking for thinkpad, haswell or at least ivy bridge.
Well, IdeaPads are pretty crappy, but... at least the keyboard layout is less screwed up than in >xx20 Thinkpads :D
Haven't seen an IdeaPad yet but I'm not optimistic now.

Interesting. I only found one article reference it as one so that's probably why it's technically one.
Where do you buy/find those laptops? Just eBay or do you have a local shop, or recycling centre?
I'm very lucky to have some local people who loan the machines to me for filming. I wouldn't be able to feature all this stuff without their support.
Could you do a review on an ideapad, please? I was just at Walmart today, and saw two of them.... I know they're nowhere as good as thinkpads, I'm just curious how bad they actually are.
I'd love to once I get the chance.

Yeah, but the hardware going inside those higher configuration models wouldn't be well protected.

True enough!
These were aimed at education actually
Like for use in the classroom?
Would explain why i keep seeing these on Craigslist
I'm somewhat surprised so many have lasted to end up on there.
Than again i also keep seeing the u530(which after looking up showed that that model suffers from hinge problems
Haven't seen one of those yet.
@@LaptopRetrospective from what ive seen its for the best you haven't
0:30 it should be Lenovo :D But, Levono sounds cool too haha

@@LaptopRetrospective You're welcome , wasnt a big deal anyway 👌
It's what being busy does to you. Thanks for being awesome.
Well I’m not getting this model.
I wouldn't either. I hate to rag on something but it just hasn't aged well at all.

Price sounds about right for the time.
this laptop has exceeded it's designed lifespan for too long, let it rest in peace man, or I should say let it rest in pieces
Looks like it's half way there.
Sir keyboard original model price in india currency
Regional pricing is best figured out by you. I don't even know what shops are available to you.

For sure. Relative upgrades are still upgrades.
I might buy one of these for someone I hate.....
Yikes. Maybe buy a ThinkPad and spread goodwill. 😁
*looks at it*thompson has same laptops to
