If I had enough money and was interested in getting another electric bass, this Vintara rendition of the Bass Six would easily appeal to me. I’ve got the Vintage Modified rendition from Squier. The thing I like about it is that you can play regular bass voicings on it with the Two extra strings on it for a little added harmonic variation. It appears to be a part of me that has on occasion tried emulating Victor Wooten, a player who plays both custom-made instruments that are built a standard scale but also a tenor bass. This type of model has always appealed to me as an instrument in which the two worlds intersect. I’ve never seen it as a guitar trying to be a bass or vice versa. Additionally, I’ve always played both guitar & bass with my fingers since September 1998 when I was 18. It’s a great little challenge to navigate this instrument without giving into temptation and reaching for plectra.
I got the Squire Bass VI a few months ago. I'm a bass player and it's a really interesting instrument to play, great tone and didn't realise how many songs it's been used on; Helter-skelter, Creams first album(mibby 1st three) and The Cure to name a few
Very Cool, Thankyou Guys. Best Explanation and Demo Of Bass VI to help me Understand what it's all about. Awesome Jam, too. You Guys Rock. All The Best Cheers
Cool concept. But I wonder if the bassist of a band would forgo the traditional bass in lieu of the bass VI for all three sets on a gig? It seems to be more of an augment instrument, whereby you have a traditional bass guitar and then a player for this bass VI to do all the chords and lead fills.
I played a similar instrument when I was a bassist in a 90-ies hard rock band. Folks were always looking around: where the heck is the bass player. With the right eq and play style it can most definitely be used as the only bass in a band setting.
I do not have it, but i’m considering getting one. I usually play in a 3-piece band and it could be usefull for when the guitarrist is doing lead parts so i’m not only playing 1 note on bass.
I play it as the only bass for some tracks, where I play a lot of melodic stuff/chords besides the low end. But it - in my case - doesn’t replace a “real” bass. I can’t play it like a P or J because of the string spacing, I play it with a plektrum, some do it finger style, but you have to adjust. I have a similar looking limited edition red MIJ one from 2013, but with a matching headstock😎
I own a bass vi and use it in my band I play guitar in my band. I approach it more melodically like the cure does. It can do bass stuff but not in the same manner as a P or Jazz Bass. I do not think the bass vi should be played like a bass though it’s wasted potential.
The Church used it for their Priest=Aura album, and Steve Kilbey always plays the bass parts with the Bass VI live (for that album). The more recent band Horse Girl use it as a main bass. You can use it however you want.
I couldn't help but notice that when playing lead, you did everything above the 7th fret. I have to wonder, as a guitaist, how viable it would be playing closer to the nut. Would the tone get lost in the mix? Would the physical comfort of playing such a long neck be something that I would have trouble getting used to.
No to the first question You “could” play it in drop c but it’s nowhere near meant for that. It’s an octave down e standard. Typically. I wouldn’t want to play regular guitar drop c on a 30” scale instrument
@@EmpireMusicPghI had the same thought, I’m the same way sometimes when I have conversations with people about things I’m genuinely passionate about. Props to you for being humble and taking the feedback to better the channel like a champ.
This is maybe the best demos of this instrument I've seen. Well done.

Take a listen to The Church's Priest=Aura album, it's the only bass on that album.

I played a Vintera 2 50s p bass the other day, feels the same as the 50s Vintera 1, which means it plays great.
Nice demo. Anyway i have to say that Anthony Pecora is super groovy with that '70s playing style!
Robert Smith of The Cure used a lot Bass VI
buying one asap

Best review, yet. And by some margin. THANK YOU.
Thanks for watching Greg! - Anthony
I gotta get one. Very cool and versatile bass. Thanks guys

I’m a bassist but I want one of these so bad
I mean... it is a bass guitar, so that's... fine? :)
😮👍👍👍
Does this come with 24 Jumbo Frets, and is this suitable to play in Drop C as a guitar with distortion? Thank you!
No to the first question

So, do you plug this into a bass amp?
It's a bass, so yes. It's tuned exactly the same as a normal bass (on the bottom four strings).
It sounds better with reverb
It looks massive in Justins hands 😂
Jesus stop interrupting the guy. Let him explain.
100%, almost impossible to watch. Have you taken this feedback onboard? Maybe you are unaware you talk over everyone?
Anthony play guitar !?!?
He's been taking on guitar for about a year or two he has mentioned before. The bass still is the main instrument for him.
Anthony man, poor Justin.
You just kept chopping him off.
So rude, all you said, Anthony was everything “Me and I”.
Cool but… Anthony, dude, you need to stay quiet when the other guy is explaining. You don’t gotta be the star of the show, buddy. So obnoxious.
Noted... thanks for the feedback. This was our first one together, and I'm trying to get better. Thanks Matt. - Anthony
@@EmpireMusicPgh this is gentlemen's answer. You are a good guy, Anthony, go on this way.
