@@TeleportWalkers Back in 1974 when I first got there, it was just a small rural town. Nothing at all as modern as it is now. Donkey drawn straw carts were a common sight. As were the Guardia Civil, patrolling the streets with AK-47s slung over there shoulders.
@@TeleportWalkers Gypsies from Moracco were everywhere. They would come into the bars, selling their tapestries and packages of pistachios. Dirty, rough looking bunch.
@@ElevatedThreat Yeah, the whole Spain has modernized a lot since the beginning of democracy en 1978. But I think it's still kept the charm of old things.
About 5 years ago I met for a reunion with three of the guys I served with in Rota. We were sitting around with our wives, telling them stories of Rota. They were listening and enjoying our tales....one of my buddies said, "Man... You should have seen it in color!" 😁. Sadly he died last year. He would have loved seeing this video.
Oh man! I'm sorry to hear that! I'm seeing many navy Americans around town enjoying their free time, I think it's cool you guys get to do that. My wife is American so I love the mix here
