Schiff's biography is great. I also found The British Museum Book of Ancient Egypt a great source for visuals and John A. Wilson's The Culture of Ancient Egypt (originally published The Burden of Egypt) very helpful. Your video is timely - I just started reading a book on Ancient Egyptian warfare and weapons!
Thanks for this starter kit. I've had my eye on The Rise and Fall of Ancient Egypt for a while. Would do starter kits for other ancient civilizations? Maybe Mesopotamia next?
Thank you! Your starter kits have been tremendously helpful to me and I appreciate you doing them. Great video! I liked The Rise and Fall of Ancient Egypt an awful lot.
This is a great topic for a starter kit! Thanks for making this video Steve! Are you aware of the upcoming DK definitive illustrated ancient Egypt book, it seems very interesting?
Hi, Steve! Luke and Amelia here. We love ancient Egypt, so thank you so much for doing this starter kit and especially for including the children’s book! As always we trust your opinions but especially on this subject since you were Imhotep’s surly house boy.😉😉Take care, Steve and Frieda!
Hey Steve have you checked out Red Land Black Land: Daily Life in Ancient Egypt by Barbara Mertz? It is pretty popular among Egypt fanatics. Have it on my shelf but I have yet to read it. If you’ve read it let me know your thoughts!
What terrific timing for me as I am building this very subject in my library!! I am wondering if you would recommend the three volume Oxford Encyclopedia of Ancient Egypt or the single volume that you mentioned? I am finally in a position to buy the set but if it is not worth it, it is not a small expenditure! I love these starter kits and always appreciate you sharing your knowledge and passion. Thanks!
Wonderful video, Steve! I've read the Rise and Fall of Ancient Egypt and this gives me plenty to move onto. If I'm not mistaken, your review for the Toby Wilkinson book was for the Washington Post and your blurb was on the cover of the paperback! Are the Paul Doherty Egyptian mystery books any good?
Oh my god ... this video is a dream come true!!!
Many thanks for this Sunday series! I look forward to more and very much appreciate your generosity with your time and talent.
Elizabeth Peters mysteries are entertaining.

If you speak German look up the works by Jan Assmann.A wonderful Egyptoligist and very readable, too.
The Eye of Horus is less than 6 bucks on Kindle. Nick Drake's book is about 10.
Very much excited about this one.
Thank you!
What about The Etruscan and The Roman by the same Waltari Mika? Are they worth a try?
